Oh, tiles that affect neighbors do so both vertically and horizontally, i.e. the tile above, the tile below, and both the one on the right and the left of the tile. The scrolling columns are something that remained from the original idea we had of the game, but we thought it looked good to see them activate that way.

We considered that, but we didn't want to overwhelm the player with too much information at once. Since buildings unlock on their own, we thought that it would be better if they discovered the new buildings one at a time when they unlocked.
But we completely get your point, thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback!
I really liked the concept and had a lot of fun playing it. It was a shame to see the unimplemented turrets, they sounded interesting. And I agree with another comment I saw regarding the cost of upgrades, maybe a faster pace would have been better for a jam game. But in any case, this was a great game, with a lovely soundtrack and sprite art. Good job!
We discussed that a lot internally, but we ended up deciding that we wanted a relaxing game without pressure, so there isn't really a punishment for taking longer.
Regarding the era skip you mentioned, that's a softlock protection method that we added. I'm happy to know that the time we spent on it was worth it.
We are glad that you liked it, and thank you for the comment!
Amazing work, it's incredible you guys built this in 4 days. I liked the art style, and the idea is very original. I did notice some performance hiccups, but that's expected from a browser build. Maybe a standalone version would perform better? We offered both in our game since we found compatibility issues on some browsers (we also used Godot). In any case, this is still great.
