i didnt even know it had passive usage i thought it was only when it was firing

technically, it does run out of fuel. youll notice depending on if you negdiff the tank when it first arrives or if you spend like a week on it the fuel in the yellow canisters will be different. its not random, it actually expends fuel to fire
though, ive never wasted the time to find out if it actually STOPS being able to fire once it runs out since it uses fuel so slowly and has 2000 units of the stuff. i suspect not? i agree it could be tweaked to use fuel faster but im also not sure what should happen when it does run out aside from.. not being able to fire.
although, if you have high reputation with the campsite aliens theyll protect you from it
YES thats what i was doing too though i was more like a cracked rubick main spamming his first maxxed + shard lift. id do it at a fairly far distance though and when they entered their death animation id just fling them up into the sky. so long gay bowser!
btw, apparently the game has audio delay for explosions that happen in the distance simulating the speed of sound. Neat.
i just used debug scrape to skip it after cranking some hogs. according to debug events this one is breaking due to ariral related stuff not spawning. it expects 2(?) to spawn and assumedly get xyz kills but they dont because Oops Underlying Prop/Spawning Changes.
tldr no its not intentionally endless
the differing level of drives for dailies changed by the difficulty setting. given the introduction of tweakable gamerules i imagine thatll get split out to its own separate thing
i can confirm the radar tower decay thing not being respected too btw. ive heard something about alt being used as a debug key for testing them going down but i cant confirm that myself. at least you can turn off the lightsout minigame, it gets real old when youre doing it like every 10 minutes
the tutorial "ESP Tracers" (taking the term from MC hacked clients) appearing weird is funny bc its actually the same bug that occurs to censor boxes when your view is nearly perpendicular/away from the source (IE can entirely black out the screen or just suddenly flick across the screen)
(edit am dumb i just realised you were talking about the TARGET point of the line, not the line flipping the fuck out itself OOPS) tldr when converting from a 3d point in space to a 2d point on the screen, the math still works even if youre looking away. the 2d part is normal (although flipped), but the "depth" component is negative. youre supposed to check if the depth is > 0 and only do your drawing then. which nose is not doing .>. i can kinda understand why this went unfixed earlier since the censorboxes werent commonly encountered but now that its used for the ESP tracers it needs to be v_v
related to the tutorial, it REALLY needs a "gina cross" hologram person like from the half life hazard course. all of VotV's mechanics are actually stupid easy once you learn them but theyve never been explained particuarlly well, and i dont feel as if they CAN be via text alone. there needs to be someone to demonstrate it in practice. but tutorializing things is a tough balancing act and nose seems pretty fed up with ""Dumb Questions"" (hence the very fancy HINTS ANT TIPS button) so i can understand why its in the state its in currently
i belive those black lines (for me theyre a bunch of big black speckles in lines) have to do with godrays. theyve been there since at least 0.8 although for some reason it wasnt happening on my original 0.8 save, but then when 0.8.1 or 2 came along and i started another save then it started occuring (and has been since). also only seems to happen during sunrise/set? or ive just started tuning it out
interesting theory although it gives me maybe a more accurate idea as to whats happening, the game isnt saving and/or incrementing the campsite progress correctly? and if progression only happens on specific day numbers then that opportunity is just gone. maybe??
i will also note something that i didnt think was relevant but probably is, the valley picnic also had this issue. the warp arrows and warp arrow toys appeared and the empty shrimps did, but the picnic blanket, basket, and other foodstuffs didnt. neither did the event where you hear one of them running away when you approach. however, the... "occupation"? box DID still exist so you could drop food there and +-rep so...
...tldr bro idfk this game is a cardhouse with some of the cards randomly replaced with jenga blocks
said it in a different thread but the game is attempting to spawn it at least initially. the cooking box.. thing & the warp arrows appear but everything else doesnt
its def not gone permanently its probably just either being revamped like you said or the map changes are causing the game to have a conniption
like all wonderful games votv is held together with toothpaste >.>
Oversight: Arirals cant count. using a shrimp pack 8 times (so that it still has 1 in it, keeping it a "shrimp pack" prop) still allows you to get the ~1.4 rep, in addition to the ~0.0125 each individual shrimp from the pack gives
individual shrimps & other shrimp related food items should have their rep bonuses adjusted instead of it JUST being shrimp packs that have the bonus
I think there should be a whitelist of things keffa-o can cary while on the jeep. containers i understand why balance wise but i think she should be able to hold things like the radio while driving
(edit) Also, unsure if this is already the plan, but the different trash bins with lids should have storage capacity bonuses to the scrap type their texture represents. IE the grey bins for metal cuts the volume of metal scrap inserted into it by half or 2/3rds or something.
as it stands right now storing large amounts of scrap (in ways that doesnt obliterate the tickrate) is rather annoying
would be nice if there were a protractor to mark and measure angles
also improvements to the measuring tape. it is very annoying that you cant see the current length while drawing it out (also weird that it uses right click while other point-a point-b items similar to it like the red ball of thread & christmas lights use left click)
screen-space censor boxes (IE the "youve been playing too long censored creature") will engulf the screen when the angle between the camera and the subject is about perpendicular
this occurs because the world to screen conversion is still trying to render the box when z <= 0 (which causes a divide by zero, filling the screen, or just causes the box to appear erroneously)
ive finally figured out when the scrollwheel stops working with the hotbar: its with things that "eat" your scrollwheel inputs
choosing an action on a focused item takes scrollwheel priority over your hotbar, and when you get off the jeep the game seems to still think youre "focusing" on it, so your scrollwheel inputs get eaten by that. its reset by hovering over another prop. ive found its not just the jeep that does it though, sitting in chairs and inconsistently terminals will do it too
Berries are neat but yellow berries giving +25 stamina is kinda busted. Its a good idea but due to this they really devalue the other stamina giving items.
Food tollerance really doesn't ballence them even though it should in theory (unless food tollerance gets updated so that some foods can be eaten less than others before kel refuses to eat them)
Alternatively yellow berries could give diminishing amounts of stamina the more theyre eaten in a row, IE the first berry is +25%, the next is 20, 15, 10, and bottoming out at 5. wait a day or smth and itll go back up to +25%. Gives a tradeoff like the other stamina granters (sodas are fairly expensive, coffee makes your camera jitter the more of it you have, coffee bites/bar dont have many uses to them, and others like the alien yogurt are rare)
itd be pretty neat if there were an upgrade you could find around/as a module: "ATV Seatbelt"
makes it so you dont go flying off the jeep when you crash, but you have to remember to buckle it when you get on (and unbuckle when you get off)
another nifty feature would be if wooden palettes could be used to send off multiple item/drive boxes with the drone at once (using plastic scrap as "ceran wrap" to hold it all together?)
after playing the halloween mode i didnt realise how brutal this game is when its stuck at 00:00 with no server decay and no sleeping
you get no new drives or drive boxes that you dont buy, you cant get points by repairing servers, your only stamina sources are soda and coffee stuff, you cant time accelerate, no daily task or weekly bonuses, and if you dont get accumulator batteries/an income source/the tr1(?) lighter you are stuck in the dark except for the jeep. if you dont create a GPU miner early on you are FUBAR. it really tests your game knowledge >.>
im not saying this is a bad thing btw, id love if this were turned into a bespoke "challenge" mode where the only real threat is your inability to ration and plan. it was really fun (aside from furfur disabling my ability to save every 5 seconds when at base + getting the stupid zombie deer by coincidence >:/ )
