Interesting game! The different ducks made the gameplay more unique (my favorite one was the wizard ducky). I think some SFX and music would've made the experience more enjoyable (I end up composing a lot, so personally the lack of sounds impacts me a lot haha), but I understand that because of time restraints, it wasn't doable. I'm hoping you'll be able to implement that in your next game!

I do think jumping is a bit slow (or rather, the jumps are really high and can make the platforming feel slower), and reading the comments, I understood that it was intended to be that way since some jumps had to be longer than some other ones. I think one way you could've adjusted to this was with a double jump because that way the player can jump once for shorter jumps, and do a double jump for the longer ones.

Overall, not a bad entry at all! You got a good game concept going on here. Wishing you the best for your next entries/games :D

Developer

Thank you very much :)

With next game I will probably start with music, because almost everyone suggest it, and it really would make difference in this kind of games :)

And the double jump would be really great compromise, I have no idea, why I didn't think about that during jam :/

Cute concept, good use of mechanics in level design!

My regards!

Thank you very much :)

Easily one of my favorite games so far in the jam!

I hope you continue to work on the jam is finished because I absolutely love this game!

The puzzles were pretty clever as well. The last level took me a little while ( mainly because I'm bad at platformers)

Honestly, if you add sound effects and a bunch more levels, I would pay like 10$ for this game on steam or something (I might be a little biased because ducks have been my favorite animal ever since I was like five)

Developer

Wow, thank you very much, for now I cant promise that I will continue working on the game, but maybe one day I will get back to the game, and there will be ducks everywhere :)

Submitted(+1)

I got stuck by the purple duck on the level where there's also 5/7 construction ducks.

Was having a good time and was slightly sad by the bug. Maybe there was a way out but I couldn't find it.

Loved the art, enjoyed the levels, good game.

press R to reset the level :)

Developer

Thank you for playing the game :) As was already mentioned, try to press R, it should reset the level :) All levels can be passed, but if you still have problem complete the level, it can try to post some clues about how to complete it :)

I love this game so much! The ducks are all so cute!! I especially love the duck that first appears in level one. It's animation is so realistic and duck-like! If you have the time, I really hope that you'll continue working on this game to add some music and sound effects 🦆 🎵

Developer(+2)

Thank you very much! :) I cant promise anything, but If I will ever continue working on the game, I will add one duck with horns just as your demons :)

Submitted(+2)

Aw, that's so sweet thank you! If I make an update to my game, I'll make sure to add a little duck somewhere 😊 💕

One of the more fun ways I've seen using the limitation, as you have to think about if and when to touch the duck (now there's a sentence). I particularly liked the screen rotation puzzles. A game like this would definitely benefit from some wacky music and a ton of quack sounds.

Developer(+1)

"sad quack noise" yes, I agree, that the music would help, but I didnt have time during the jam, maybe sometimes in the future :)  Thanks for playing the game :)

A fun game! I liked the different variation of ducks and that they had different mechanics. The platforming was very nice too!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot!

I like the variety of mechanics that are added during progression! The timing on the thunderclouds somehow felt a little weird though. Solid game overall!

Developer(+1)

Yes, the thunderclouds took so much time, that I did consider to remove them, so I am happy, that they are somehow working, but I understand you. Thank you for playing the game!

A very fun puzzle platformer. I loved the graphics, they were really charming, especially the different types of ducks. My favorite is the duck that rotates the level, well done!

Developer

Thanks!

Pretty funny game :D

Developer

Thank you :)

it is good game, but judgement ?

Developer(+1)

Firstly, thank you for playing the game :)

And now to your problem: it was meant, that you are judged for your action (touching the ducks) and based on that you get punishment (transport to cage/ lose platform under the feet etc) I know it is not the best interpretation, but based on the description  of the jam, the theme is not important, only adhering to limitations is ("Remember, theme is purely inspirational and not required. Feel free to interpret it however you want.")

touched the duck. 10/10. I love all the unique combinations of ducks!

that said, i do have a couple of suggestions/comments

- Try to keep pixel size consistent, there's like 3 different resolutions which can make the game feel less cohesive

- There's absolutely nothing wrong with having a character that can jump high or move fast, but if that's the case, utilize it, many of the jumps were very close together and didn't make use of the high jump height of the player. i would say either make the player's jump height much smaller, or space out the jumps more to make full use of the player's movement, as right now it feels like the levels were made for an entirely different character altogether

- try not to switch up the camera like you did on like the 4th level. In the first few levels, the camera was static, but then the camera suddenly switched to a camera that follows the player. Both of these are fine and have their benefits, but i would definitely try to stick with one as it was somewhat surprising when the camera switched up on me

Overall, great game! a lot of my critiques are just nitpicks, the art is great, the concept is unique, i loved playing this game!

Developer(+1)

How dare you to violate the only rule there was :O

Anyway, thank you for playing the game !

To your suggestions/comments. Thank you really much for these, because they help me get better in creating games.

- I will try to stick with this in the future, as I am still new to pixel art, and honestly I am happy, that these things looks even remotely like ducks. I tried to stick with the 32x32 size, but then I started feeling like the ducks are small, so I increased the scale for them, but I understand, that it kinda looks chaotic.

- I set the jump high to be able to jump 2 tileshigher, so that in some map you can jump one tile highter, and in others another two tile, but I will try to think of this in future games

We really love duck here, and walking around the different levels was really fun (I really like the physics). A good game like this deserve some music ;)

Developer

Thank you very much :)
I had so many ideas with every "quack" sound you can think of, but unfortunately didnt have time to add it.

This was really cool! The concept is great. I really enjoyed the special mechanics. Wish there were a few more of them though. Great job!

Developer

Thank you very much :)

Cute art and concept. I don't think the controls were working correctly for me.

Developer

Thank you for playing the game :) What exactly was not working with controls if I may ask?

Submitted

Nothing happens when I press A,D or R

Developer

Interesting, nobody else mentioned the problem.

May I ask:

- on what browser did you played the game?

- did you tried to click to the game after it loaded (maybe you wasn't focused on the game)

Submitted

I'm using Chrome. I did try to make sure the canvas had focus.

I do believe this is probably just happening to me. I saw something similar happen with another game once and it didn't seem to be happening to anyone else.

My loss! looks like a fun entry.

Developer(+1)

Sorry I cannot help you further with the problem.

However, if you would still like to try the game, I added windows downloadable for you, so hopefully it will be working for you :)
