Well... there is no music... and there was no team either. I'm absolutely knackered after 2 days of nonstop coding n making those scuffed models. So imma go get some sleep right after the submission.
Next time maybe make a video announcing the gamejam so people wont miss out.

mr affable is hilarious

Developer

I can’t argue with that.

The game was fun, but the camera moved weird making it hard to tell where I was. I was on WebGL so I will ignore the frame drops. Looked quite nice as well. I will note overall this game was quite basic, and not much there, you play the minigame and then the story wasn't finished, but that isn't too much of a problem, and the game was still pretty good overall. Of course, nothing to say on sound lol

Developer

Glad you liked it 😉❤️ Yeah, the camera didn’t work out as I wanted. I’ve used some nasty practices that would make industry pros cringe to build this game. I haven’t had much experience working on sound so decided to completely drop it… for now at least.

Very fun gameplay and I love the art so much! I love that the track is long so you have time to drop obstacles at random times! I do agree with the rest of the comments, the camera drag got me dizzy a little bit and the game did tank FPS on web, with no issues at all with the downloaded version. The oranges did in fact, where the culprit, Maybe combining the objects and dropping them as one? Just an idea haha. Great work!

Developer

I’m delighted to hear that you loved the game ❤️🙂.

Yeah, I’ll definitely have to experiment more with camera stuff. By drag you mean the left and right rotation of camera, right? The constant camera shake isn’t causing any problems, right?

I’ve got fps dips at oranges area too 😂. You are correct about combining objects. In fact, it is lagging due to too many physics objects in scene. I’ll make sure I don’t do dumb stuff like this again

Submitted(+1)

Yup! the left and right panning of the camera is what I meant. For the physics objects, maybe you could also try to destroy them a few seconds after they are no longer visible by the camera, or based on distance. But it is on the right track :D

Developer

Gotcha. I do Destroy() the objects using an invisible wall behind the player. But both Instantiate() (spawning function) and Destroy() itself has some performance costs. It’s better to use object pooling in this case… so we reuse same oranges again n again. I’m just not experienced enough using object pooling, so I didn’t end up using it. 😂

Submitted(+1)

That's fine, optimization is usually the last thing one usually thinks about. I don't do it most of the time haha. The wall idea works great, good workaround! Nice!

Submitted(+1)

Looks great and a challenging endless runner nice idea. Plenty have said it but The Camera drag is a bit rough though, hard to see obstacles on the edges of the track. But really like what you went for with it though dynamic movement can really make something pop! Always good to try hard things!

but no music was good because I started playing my gym motivation mix till I won haha.

Great submission!

Thank you for your kind words. I’m glad it was a fun experience for you ❤️😉. If it is possible to edit the game now (I’m not sure if I am allowed to, but I think some people have updated their submissions) I might try to add some sfx at least.

Submitted(+1)

Cant edit the game now sadly, just your title and stuff but not the game.

But if you still wanna edit the game after for yourself or something yeah adding some sound effect like for the jump and stuff that would really add an extra level of feedback for the player.

Plenty of free resources online like I use "Mixit" personally, also plenty of just royalty free SFX on unity asset store or YouTube.

But other wise great work,  this could be a really nice little portfolio piece the artistic style really sells the game.

Developer

Gotcha. Thanks for letting me know 🙂❤️

The visuals are so cute 🌸!! Good suggestion with Streamlabs music for the mood :)

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed the art style. Thanks for playing. ❤️🙂

simple and fun game with great visuals! wouldve really loved some audio tho!

Developer

Totally agree with you on that one. I’m not skilled enough to make my own music and sfx as of right now.

I’m glad you had fun playing 🙂❤️

Fun, cute, amazing visuals, and very engaging!

I am happy to hear you liked it. Thanks for playing. 🙂❤️

Very fun and well made. Well done!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for playing. ❤️🙂

Here come dat monke! Camera angle made it a bit hard to see if you were hitting obstacles.

Developer

Lesson Learned. Don’t mess with camera unless I know what I’m doing. I definitely didn’t know what I was doing.

I thought making it rotate a bit will make it more dynamic like how they do in NFS games. Too bad it didn’t go as planned.

I’m glad you enjoyed playing my game. Thank you for your valuable feedback. 🙂❤️🐒

Nice visuals. It reminded me of a game id see on an ad or tik tok except your games not riddled with pay mechanics and your game actually works. Great job! Looking forward to hearing your music once you start learning! Again Great job!

Developer

“Your game actually works”, That is music to my ears. A good amount of my sleep and sanity was sacrificed to make it bug free. 😂

I’m glad you loved playing my game. Thank you for your kind words. It made my day. ❤️🙂

oh and also it was fun forgot to mention that :face_palm:

A game with plot. Good theme. The gameplay when there are a lot of props on screen kills my framerate. When you move left or right it also moved your pov so that makes it harder to catch item.

Developer

I see… so moving the POV is making it worse. I thought it’ll make it look like those polished games that use some kind of dynamic cameras. Guess it backfired.

As for performance, can you tell me if you played WebGL or Windows version? Also what kind of CPU are you using? (Asking so I can get a better idea of target devices for next time) I’m aware that this could happen due to me spawning ludicrous amounts of objects with physics. And also we are kinda pushing limits of WebGL here.

That being said, I’m glad you liked my very scuffed creation. Thank you for your valuable feedback. 🙂🐒❤️

(+1)

WebGL is of course tanked worse because as you said the framerate is capped at certain number. For windows version, it only tanked on the part where there are a lot of oranges. I'm using i7 & GTX 1050Ti, 120hz monitor. The problem could highly likely on my side though

Developer

Wait you are correct. I did get FPS dip when that orange pile spawned. Guess I’ll be mindful not to spawn so many Physics objects next time. 🤔

(+1)

lags my computer after a couple minutes but nice and simple. def a monke game.

Developer

Interesting.

Did you play WebGL version? Web version can be pretty laggy.

Also spawning hundreds of cubes almost all with physics can be pretty taxing on CPU. So I can totally see it lagging. My i7-12700h handled both WebGL(at 60fps) and Windows (at 165fps) without any hiccups. I’m curious what CPU you are using? Asking so I won’t overwhelm any CPUs next time I build a game.

Thanks for your feedback, it is much appreciated 🙂❤️

Submitted(+1)

A bit laggy to me but overall great!
But what hapened to the audio?

Developer

Haha… I never made any audio. And I was too focused on code and visuals so I ended up scraping a lotta ideas. Thanks for the feedback.
