This is a great first part.

Don't know why Ran thought this was hard. Then again I did skip most of Pisces by jumping down the entire level. Getting hit does cause the character to freeze until you let go or change direction which is a bit odd.

Overall a solid entry.

The designs are very cute -- I really love the aesthetics very much. Unfortunately I think this is another one of those games that are too hard for me to try quickly lol

I really liked the character/magical girl designs!

The gameplay itself is solid. Jumping and movement felt a little floaty, but not too bad. The attacks were hit or miss. (Literally I guess?) I had a hard time lining up shots for the squirrels and bats in particular, making me often waste the charged shot. The final magical girl's arked shot was pretty fun to use. For Taurus, I like the idea of the melee attacked knocking enemies around, but it was a little too clunky to feel useful.

I see in other comments that you had planned to have a final boss battle but had to cut it. Maybe add it in an update? :)

One other small thing... playing in browser there are 2 fullscreen buttons that are almost on top of each other... the Unity webGL button, and the itch.io fullscreen button. The Itch one doesn't function correctly for me (in firefox anyhow), it only makes most of the screen black, with a small game window. The Unity button does work however, but the itch one is kind of in the way. Maybe disable the itch fullscreen button and let the Unity button do the work?

Overall a fun game, great work!

I really liked the concept, storyline and character designs of this one, but the gameplay just didn't quite do it for me.

The platforming is functional if unremarkable. I found the enemies to be too bullet-spongey, your base attack just boring to use and the charge attack too hard to tell when it's ready or not. Also, the literal goddamn bats. I could deal with the first bat, barely, but not two at once, in a confined space with nowhere to retreat to. They knocked me off and I kind of stopped there.

As an aside limited lives and being sent back to the beginning on death are both artificial-difficulty, game-doesn't-value-your-time things I'm just not a fan of.

The only other thing I'd comment on is the music. It's not bad, but it's just kind of there, and I've heard both songs before in many other games.

I liked the megaman aspect of choosing the order and gaining a power, although seems contrived story wise.

Although choosing the wrong level to start with is a pain, having to peg a squirrel 8 times is painful... and man those bats.... F* em.

Anyway, I enjoyed it , even though the end boss battle is a big let down ...

Suggestions:

1) make the magic powers a bit more visible at least, if not more exciting to see. Hard to see the little rocks.

2) maybe just assign some keys to the powers instead of having to switch ? ...

Thank you for your comment and feedback! We've changed the squirrels and bats' HP in order to make the game less difficult. About having to shoot them 8 times, it's probably easier if you use the charged attacks.

Regarding the ending, our intention was having a boss battle, but we couldn't make it in time and had to change the story accordingly. :/

We're taking your first suggestion into consideration, while the second was something we decided to leave as it is. The gameplay isn't about using every power at once, but choosing which is going to be more helpful at the time. All of them have weaknesses and strengths, it wouldn't be challenging at all if there wasn't a downside to them.

Fun game, I loved the art! :) I especially loved the replayability of levels with being able to play as the bosses you beat. Though, I would suggest writing the controls for falling through platforms somewhere, I thought the Taurus boss was unbeatable for a little bit before I figured it out.
