So those chars are cute! Love them so much. Considering the lack of gameplay I decided to rate engagement on the story; not bad. Thank you for participating!

I absolutely adore the character design! I didn't know who was talking but I realized there is a white outline around the person. I feel like there could be something done to make it more apparent. I like that you can run by holding spacebar. Walking animation doesn't match the speed. Footsteps sound effects are a nice touch. I also like the quiet level in the bubble where you can hear ambient noise instead of music. Controls could be simplified. Is it necessary to have multiple buttons with the same function? The overall pace of the game is slow and the amount of dialog is a lot to go through. I found myself mashing the keys just to skip through the speech. It's easy to get stuck in a cycle of never ending talking by accidentally making someone repeat the same sentence. Love the surprise transformation at the end.

Thanks for your time.

My idea was to tell a story with minimal gameplay, but it backfired with people expecting more gameplay but not getting it. But yeah, I should make the dialog portions more comfortable to navigate.

The characters are cute and lovely  and the overall visual are refreshing. but well. there is not much gameplay. Every time I see a monster I expect there will be a fight, and then it just cut to the end of fight.

Developer

I ain't animating all that fighting. That's the sad problem with being too lazy with learning 3d. Thanks for playing.

This game has a lot of cuteness and charm. The sprite animation is wonderful, and though it's sparse it's used well. The story is, eh, not really my thing, but it's charming and fits the themes.

On the other hand, there's barely a game here. There's no combat, it's all done in cutscenes, the dialogue is completely linear, and though there are sections where you can wander around and interact with stuff, there's only ever one thing to interact with. It's effectively a kinetic novel, but it feels like it should be more.

I think the short length works for it, though. It doesn't sit around and get stale, it rides on style long enough for the story to conclude without getting bogged down.

Developer

Yeah, it was supposed to only be a kinetic novel, but I see how the free sections give a wrong impression.

Thanks for the review.

Now that I got to see the real game, I can say that it's really adorable! I really loved the sprites, especially the little doggos. Animation's fluid and smooth. I also enjoyed the main characters friendship.

Thank you for your patience.

Glad you like how it looks. That's really the only thing I take pride in.

As usual, great artwork and characters designs! I really like the little animal helpers, super cute. Nice to see you continuing from the last jam, character wise. It feels a lot like a visual novel in it's current state, but with the freedom to walk around and explore. It'd be cool to have some combat or puzzles, but if you're going mostly for a straight forward story-game everything that's there works well.

Hoping to see more with this setting and characters!

Yeah, I was going for a VN. The moving around came about because I was inspired by Cherry Tree High School Comedy Club, a VN using sidescrolling instead of a map to move around. Thanks for playing.

Ah, I played Cherry Tree High and it's sequel.... checks Steam... 7 years ago!?!?  Abject horror at the passing of time aside, it's nice to find someone else who's played it! :)

I really enjoyed this one! Feels a lot more fleshed out than your "Typical G4" game. The story, art and worldbuilding really shines here. Gameplay, well there is not so much to do as of writing... But the concept is really cool and it feels almost like a demo for a serious RPG that you'd pay money for.

Thanks for playing.

What do you mean Typical G4 game? My games are the best, the cream of the crop. /s
