A lovely idea with some decent sprite work. The player character felt too slow while walking, making some of the platforming weird. Also, that background music did get old a bit fast. Other than that, it is a great game. Solid level design and it's hella cute!

Thanks so much ^_^ the bkg music needs some work haha

That was a real nice experience, I really liked the mechanics and it was very solidly made. Big fan of that title screen art. Well Done!!!

Developer

Thanks. I used the mouse for the art because I didn't have my graphic tablet available, so kind of like trying to draw with a rock lol

Wow that's even more impressive, nice going!

Love how the game looks and jump feels soooo good! The doors confused me a little since I had to wait for the little friend to get close but other than that I loved it!

Thank you!!

Oo such a neat entry!

Was really cleaver to make jumping faster than walking, really added to he frog aspect.

I had fun playing this one! movement felt pretty nice, the goal was pretty clear.

I do have a few nitpicks tho:

- The music wasnt the greatest imo, it repeats the main melody too much, so it gets repetitive very fast.

- The door unlocking had 2 minor issues, the door unlocky boi was very slow so the pace of the game would just hit road bumps where I would wait for him to catch up. The cute friend that he is (such a good frend). Second is the colors felt very inconsistent, I had to kinda trail and error the doors in the final room. Maybe have the shape frend turns into be the shape on the door rather than have it be just color based? that would also make the game better for color blind folk.

But dont let those points bug you in anyway. The movement was fun and speeding through the levels was very fun! the art work in general was very charming and I love the setting! any game that did just do "Frogs" shows great imagination and gets me excited!

Fantastic work!

Thanks a bundle for taking the time to comment and give feedback. The jump! You noticed!! About the music I knew it was going to get on people's nerves fast, I should have spent more time with it, lazy me :P The colour coding is something that needs fixing too, I agree, and  I quite like the idea of matching the door shape with the pet sprite. Will look into that.

It's a pity I can't vote(

Very good game

Don't worry ^_^ I'm glad you had fun with it

A game with a lot of effort put in. I like all the art, especially at the title screen. There's a lot of polish, like the particle effects in the title. Controls really well with a controller. Heck, there's even custom music for this! I also liked how the level design taught you instead of there being some ridiculous tutorial.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to complete the game because the whole game restarted with a single failure. I quit after dying three times on the same level, which had quite a bit of a difficulty spike. The puzzles were a bit simplistic, being standard lock and key. It was hard to tell which form opened which door due to the colors varying a bit too far from the colors of their form.

That being said, I hope this doesn't discourage you. This was a great game, especially for a game jam, and I hope this feedback helps.

Thanks a lot for the positive comments and for the feedback, definitely will keep that in mind :D besides colour coding I think perhaps it would benefit also from the movement being a little more floaty and less snappy. The game is one main puzzle level as I was running out of time, and couldn't make a softer difficulty spike. I might work on this a little further in the future.

This looks pretty awesome, could you add a web version, please??? You’ll get more reviews!

Developer

Thank you! Unfortunately the engine I'm using doesn't support web export, so it will be stuck on Windows EXE for now.

It was interesting to play this game.

I liked the mechanic of changing the color of the companion to open doors.

Banner art is awesome.

Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it :D
