Game Title: Mystical Valley/Forest

Information: A minimalist Rhythm game where you play as a mochi that has procedurally generated paths to follow.

I'd like feedback on: How the different difficulties feel, and how much struggle was needed to pick up the controls.

Thank you for the thread!

Hey, I thought the premise of the game was good. I also liked how much work was put into the environment. That being said, I found the controls very difficult to handle especially with the characters inertia. I also found the platforming to be a bit too hard, as the areas to land were a bit small, and with as much speed as the player gains it becomes increasingly more difficult to land on them, but maybe I just suck at the game lol. Also, sometimes it was hard to know where exactly I was supposed to go, so maybe add a few landmarks that are easily see-able to help guide the player. Other than that, I think it has a solid base for a good speedrunning game.

Submitted

Hey Reondale, thanks for trying it ^^ Ye, probably at the start could be some difficult to handle with platforms and jumps... even with movements. Thanks for the feedfbacks, could be interesting for new updates :) After a solid base has been built eheh

Hey! I enjoyed the art style, it was very unique and I could see how much effort went into that aspect of the game. On the other hand, I found the amount needed to be looted every day was almost impossible to achieve without spam clicking on chests. If I had achieved the wanted amount, it would have taken me hours. The enemies slide all over the place so perhaps instead of using velocity for their movement it would be more appropriate to change their transform.position over time which would make things much smoother. I was initially very interested in the game but the more I played it seemed to be very repetitive and the challenge of the enemies was too easy.  Also, the mechanic of slowing down time seemed to be almost useless so perhaps add more usefulness. I don't mean to tear apart your game, as I am certain you put a lot of work into it which is apparent. So I apologize if I come across that way. Again, I love the art style, but the mechanics aren't quite there yet.

Submitted (1 edit)

Thanks for playing the game and for the feedback! The amount is high for purpose and you had to hold 'E' to loot, so it don't really take music time the, each loot had different time to loot, so the idea was to either avoid enemies and loot or fight them all and then loot. I guess it's on me for not having a tutorial on how to play it. I have a day job so didn't spend any time on this  game. also the enemies don't use velocity to move, but navmesh, didn't spend time to match the animations much. it's a small jam game so didn't really add more levels of depth in gameplay, So kinda expected to be repetitive. The time mechanic is very useful if known how to use it, specially for combat or escape. It's not a puzzle game, so time stop is for combat only.

Game Title/URL: https://itch.io/jam/my-first-game-jam-winter-2022/rate/1360383

Pitch/Information: A short game where you are a natural yogurt and you have to stay natural by pushing the upcoming sugar out of the table or by slaming the table to make sugar fly away. I challenged myself to make it in 2 days instead of 2 weeks just for fun.

I'd like feedback on: Anything ! I had to work very fast to respect my personal challenge so there are still a lot of issues, some that i already discovered and some others.

Submitted

I found it both challenging and enjoyable. I think you achieved what you were going for, the only thing I would think that might need a bit of work is perhaps adding some type of health item that gives you your lid back or something. Also, it was quite quiet, so music would have been a great addition.

Submitted

You're absolutely right, that was exactly what i thought about the game after publishing it. By the way, i tried to implement a shield system but i didn't have time to make look good, so i cancelled it. Thanks for playing :D

Game Title/URL: The Man Who Sold Plants

Pitch/Information: It's sort of like an overcooked clone. You have to plant seeds, water the seeds in two stages of growth, and turn in the batteries that grow to add time to your countdown. If the countdown reaches zero you lose. If you make it far enough, there are enemies who appear and disrupt you.

I'd like feedback on: How easy the game is? If there are any serious bugs? I know the game is pretty bare-bones and unfun, but what would increase your enjoyment of it?

Game Title/URL:  Araf- A Wing Flap Simulator for Eternity

Pitch/Information: What if Dishonored, Flappy Bird, and Superflight had a child together and it was favoring Dishonored's side a bit more? Listen to the thoughts, reach the end, see it for yourself.

I'd Like Feedback On:

I need help on
: Flight controls. If you have made a flying game before and implemented flight controls, I would like to get in touch.

Hello everyone! This is my second MFGJ, using it as an excuse to learn godot.

Game Title/URL: “Outfoxed”: https://zmbush.itch.io/outfoxed

Pitch/Information: This is just a simple platformer, where you play a fox trying to bring some chickens home for a party. The main mechanic is picking up and throwing ball-like chickens across the level. (Also, I just implemented leaderboards for each level)

I’d like feedback on: I’ve had some trouble deciding on input bindings, I feel like the current controller bindings work well, but the keyboard bindings still feel awkward. Otherwise any feedback on level design would be appreciated.

Game Title / URL: Fox Hollow

Information: Fox Hollow is a game in which the player controls our hero named Lunk. Our hero is the protector of Fox Hollow and has a magical lantern that leads the way in terms of lighting for the player and is capable of casting magical spells to dispel the evil creatures that harbor themselves in the caves and forest. You must vanquish The Destroyer in order to save the forest.

Feedback: We would like feedback on the feel of the controls as well as the attacking system. Was it too difficult? Was it too easy? Any feedback on what can be improved would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much! Also, as the art director, please let me know what you thought of the style of the art, and what could have been done better.

Game Title/URL:
Lexicode https://greatfilter.itch.io/lexicode

Guess the word based on the clues. Words close to the secret word have lower numbers. Can you crack the code in one shot?

I'd like feedback on:

Puzzle difficulty, how did you like it? How many guesses does it take you usually?

Game Title/URL: Journey of the Dungeon Lizard

Pitch/Information: Journey of the Dungeon Lizard is a game heavily inspired by ConcernedApe’s Journey of the Prairie King from Stardew Valley, but instead of a gun, the main character utilizes a sword. You will face multiple waves of different enemies and bosses across all the 11 levels. To aid you in this difficult journey random powers ups will appear, you can also buy upgrades that will be available at the end of specific levels.

I’d like feedback on:

  • Gameplay: Are the commands responsive? Do you think all the mechanics are working as intended? Do you believe some aspect of the gameplay limit your experience or are unnecessarily annoying?
  • Design: Do you think the levels explore well the diversity of enemies and the core gameplay mechanics? Does the amount of enemies appearing each level seems reasonable? Are the enemies (mechanically) different enough?
  • Visual: Do you think the animations fit well in the game? Are the sprites clear enough so you can see them well? Can you understand more or less what each power-up does based on its sprite?
  • Sound: Do you think the music is appropriate to this game? Is some sound effect unnecessarily annoying? Do you think the sound effects telegraph well what is happening in the game?

Some notes: Although I will be very glad with the feedback, I will probably not update the game anymore, and will use this information for my next mini-projects. Thank you very much for your time <3.

I wasn't skilled enough to get past the first level, but I was having fun being chased around the room and taking swipes at the baddies.
