Thanks for the feedback, everybody. Was a nice exercise to see if I could actually make it. I might work on finishing it and adding some other variations of the puzzle, haven't had much time lately, tho.

Played on stream: https://www.twitch.tv/asfunasfun Interesting take! Makes me want to try my own variations!

This is a very interesting core concept for a game! I see that you ran out of time just as you were getting to the basic prototype and were unable to implement win/loss features. Your base idea is wondrous, and I would love to see it developed further!

How was your jam experience? What did you learn? How would you do things differently if you could try again?

I like the basic idea that is I like chess variants and pico-8-chess is cute. Right now most openings lead to ties so maybe the idea requires some more work.

Excited to play a more complete version :)

The concept is rather interesting. The king can't be checked so that is a bit of an issue when playing competitively. A few more chess pieces could be added and this would make a great game to play with friends!

Oh boy! I love games!

I really like the twist and concept, the lack of audio was disappointing, but I thought it was a really decent game!

Might be a good concept, I would love to see a finalized version of that!

The gameplay and visuals are nice but the king cant be checked or checkmated and can be captured before other pieces remain. Also, if only the knights remain in the game then since they cant capture eachother the game cant end. Unfortunately there is no sound. This game has much potentual tho and its really cool that it was made in PICO-8.
