I just tried the game and really liked the concept! Good job! owo

Developer

Glad you liked it! Thanks :)

congrats on wining!

I really like this game. The background sound, CRT monitor and the whole setting went really well with the gameplay. Definetly relatable and I replayed a bunch of times. Only problem is that if you finish code part too fast, you can't collect points for accept/reject part, so you get punished for going fast. And replaying can be done by memorizing the answers, but I that's as much as you can squeeze from 3 hours. Overall I think it's a really well managed time and a masterfully crafted experience.

Developer

Thanks for the thorough review and I'm happy you liked it!
I know the game lacks a bit of balancing but as you say the 3 hour period is very limiting. I think it would make the game fairer if I would randomly generate some of the programming problems or at least randomize the order. For this jam, I made them all by hand and just play them in sequence. If  I ever decide to bring this concept into something more complete I will take your feedback with me.
Once again thank you very much!

What a great concept. This is especially how interruptions work (with all the code review). Congrats! Would love to play.

P. S. I only saw the trailer and can't play for real because I don't own a Windows PC.

Developer

Thank you very much!
My engine currently only supports windows which is unfortunate, which platform are you on?

I’m on a Mac.

The sounds were really satisfying and the game was fun :0 1325 points

It's simple enough to understand that my mediocre coding skills can handle it, but hard enough to make me think for a few seconds XD Great job!!

I'm glad you enjoyed it, you also got a great score. Nice!
I think the time limit was to my benefit there else I would probably have made the game even harder!

it was fun to play and enjoyable except the timer that gave my dumb ass rage. wasn't expecting it to be this good. Loved it!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it, I understand the game can be difficult as it is designed to be such. I will however bring this feedback with me if I update this game or for my next project!

Thank you very much!

This was quite enjoyable! Good concept and presentation. I got 1375 points. What engine did you use?

Developer

Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I  think you have the highest score so far.
The engine used is called Maraton and it's my custom-built engine.

Wow, that's really cool you used your own engine! Is it available anywhere? would love to check it out. I've experimented with making my own engines in the past but never got too far.

Developer

Right now it is still a closed source engine but I plan on making it available here on itch.io sometime soon!
Yeah making your engine is difficult and you have to set aside a lot of time before you can reap the benefits. I'd recommend developing one subsystem at a time to not get overwhelmed, If you ever get stuck or have questions I'd be happy to lend a hand!

very cool game, finally got around to play it!

should be an option to turn off the timer for slow dummies like me that want to play all of the game's content but are to slow.

Developer(+1)

Very glad to hear that you enjoyed it!
I agree that there would be very nice with such quality of life features. Due to the time limit, I restricted the game to give more of an arcade feel. However I do note your feedback, thanks!

Awesome game, I have wanted to make a coding puzzle game taking inspiration from games like EXAPUNKS for a bit so this was cool to see. I really liked the  CRT shader. I got 1100 points.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words!
I have seen Exapunks before but never tried it myself.
Making a full game based on programming seems like a  very cool idea and something that you can experiment a lot with. Something that inspired me with that type of game is that you have a lot of algorithms that you could turn into interesting puzzles that will produce the eureka feeling once you see the connection.

I might play this later, but tip is people are more likely to play this is if you can play it on the website

My game engine currently doesn't support compilation into web assembly.
This is in my backlog but couldn't get that ready before the jam.

I will bring this tip with me to the next jam, thank you very much!
