1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Damn, even the first question is hard to answer.... I have so many names and nicknames that I could populate an RPG them. But most people call me Jhonny or Shika(as in "She Ka")

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

Yes, and NO, at the same time.
- Ive registered for First "My first game Jam 2018"
-Found a close friend of mine to be my team m8(he went missing for the entire month, 1 day before the jam started);
-I've managed to settle on a ideea(I've went with a Shoot em' up game similar to Space Invaders);
-Made the Main Menu;
-1 Animation for the Player's ship;
-Movement system for the Player;
-Generate enemies that can shoot at the Player's ship at fixed intervals;
-Made a boss that could move left to right while shooting;
-In the 4th day Ive decided that my naming was crap and I wanted to batch change the namings using Notepad++, and managed to corupt the project, and as a spart pants as I was I didnt made any back'up.
-Got so down that I didnt managed to remake more then the players movement system and quited on it;

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

-I cant make my mind over this one, but I can say  that I love multiplayer/co-op games and single player games with good stories.
-Warcraft III, 20% of my 10 years spend on that game ware on making or editiong existing costum maps, I just loved the War Editor....
(a lot of time was pend on DOTA and Dota eXtreme)

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I  dont have any actual experience on game dev. BUT:
-I've edited edited images using Paint.net or Photoshop.
-I've edited sounds using GoldWaveEditor.
-I've spend a lot of time on War3 costum map,lvl design, and balancing the maps.
-I've finished some tutorials on GameMaker1 & 2 , RPG Maker, Cry Engine.
-I've never finished a game.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Female Martial Artists <3 !
But related to Game Dev, its.... nothing in particual, I just like to edit/modify stuff, be it Code, Image/sprites or sounds , I just love to mess up with things. (And Im realy good a messing up with things, ok , more with breaking things up but thats just details)

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

DELIVER A DARN GAME!!!

7. Any advice to new jammers (if you're a veteran)?

Make back ups to your projects!
It was a realy stupid mistake for me not to do at least 1 for my Shoot em' up project , sence Ive had so many bad experiences during my Warcraft 3 Editing days, when power outage was a somewhat regular thing in my neighborhood , Working with 10 MB+ maps made the game/editor crush quite often(mainly because of my outdated PC) .
So I usualy make 1 back up per day or 1 per major update on the game(big enought to make you facepalm your self) it was realy usefull when importing difrent systems from others (and in Warcraft 3 most of the spells ware from HiveWorkshop) and it sometimes the new variables messed with the old ones making debugging a headake making.
(Also Im not a veteran, and this might not be a good advice, its just something I need to remind my self)

8. If you're a returning jammer, what can the admins do to improve your jam experience?

I will notify you guys when I find something.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hey, I'm Ben!  I'm a gigantic nerd who has always wanted to make his own games, and I now have the tools, time, and motivation to.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

Nope!  First timer here!  I had actually planned to make this game starting on July 1st, but then I saw a post for the Jam and thought "Why not?"

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

Big questions here ;-D  My favorite games are the Armored Core series back on the PS1.  I also love the Metroid Prime series, and Breath of the Wild blew my mind last year.  I've wanted to make my own games since I played Wild ARMS.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I know how to flowchart a program, but I don't know a line of syntax, so I picked up Game Maker Studio 2 after hearing Undertale was made with the first one.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I'd like to live in a sustainable house someday, and would love to build a Earthship.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Since I have no real experience and even less artistic skill, I want to make a single floor of the dungeon for the game I have been planning.  I probably won't have any art assets, but I want the game's functions to work properly.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hello everyone! My name is Anchor, I do 3D game model mostly and some 2D arts or concept.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

This is the first time I join a jam and I love games very much!

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

Mostly I play games on consoles. MGS, KH are my favorite game series. I always wants to make my own games since I was a child

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I have some exp with 3d game assets modeling and texturing. But I still learning engines while I have time

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Love the game culture but I am not a crazy gamer. I like game arts and always have passion to create my own. I like to communicate with others so please feel free to talk to me! : )

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Meets more people who have love, a lot of love, to create games together.

7. Any advice to new jammers (if you're a veteran)?

8. If you're a returning jammer, what can the admins do to improve your jam experience?

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself? Mooral here, ready and nervous for my first game jam!

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining? This will be my first game jam, I made a goal this year to get into game development, so I bought a new laptop and downloaded some game engines and have been watching a lot of YouTube tutorials and game design videos, then I saw the idea of a game jam! I said, this is perfect to get my feet wet and finally make something.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own? So many favorites, too many to list, been wanting to make games for a long time.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine? Game dev is what I went to school for but I got burned out after college, now it's time to right that wrong.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Gaming, Pro Wrestling, and my family.

6. What are your goals for this game jam? To make something playable and get it out there.

7. Any advice to new jammers (if you're a veteran)?

8. If you're a returning jammer, what can the admins do to improve your jam experience?

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hello I'm Munro,  a game designer, robot artist and llama enthusiast. Also did I mention I make games?

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or make you want to make your own?

Anything that's overly complex and can only really be understood fully by playing. Building games like Factorio, Paradox titles, and also smaller things like Airships: Conquer the Skies. I find game development to be like playing one, assembly and interlocking systems.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Learning more Unity and have way too many half finished projects. (must stop making all the art before the game!). Know a bit of Construct 2 which I made overly complex prototypes with bad instructions... wait, no I'm still doing that just with Unity.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Limited color palettes. Can be pixel art, low poly, or vector, all's well if I can count the colors on my fingers.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Make something that feels whole the whole way through! (repetitive rhetoric to reiterate)

Have you played Dwarf Fortress? You can't get more complex than tha

I have, but its so much going on and the interface is so... dense? I never can get through a game of it! I think I read there's a mouse interface mod so might give it another try.

Yay, another Construct Game Dev!
BTW I played Chatbots and I have to say - I love your approach to game design. Everything starts unfolding as one plays along. Looking forward to your game submission

(+1)

That's great to hear! I'm happy when I hear the game clicked, since the logic can be a bit counter intuitive

Excited for whatever you got going on (please be include more tasty low poly food)!

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hello! I go by Silly-Fly! This is my first jam and I downloaded Unity a few days ago before signing up and I got a game concept I’ve been developing for awhile now that I want to put into paper (or should I say… “put into code” *rimshot*)

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I’m joining this jam because I want to create a game and also the length of this jam is beneficial for me to create a game while learning more about Unity.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I like a variety of game genres that range from platformers, to fighting games, to racing games, to RPGs, to visual novels, etc. A lot of Nintendo games like the Mario franchise, Zelda franchise, and Pokemon franchise has given me inspirations. Megaman is also an inspiration too.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

The closest I’ve done to game development was making a text based game ala “Choose your own adventure” genre for a previous class that I am planning on reviving for this upcoming Fall semester for my senior capstone project. I used a mixture of Adobe Muse and basic knowledge of HTML and CSS, but the revival of this game is going to be more JavaScript based than on Muse.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

In terms of story in ANY media, fantasy, horror, adventure, sci-fi, and mystery are (no in particular order) my FAVORITE genres!! So when I publish my original works, expect them in either in those genres.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

I am hoping to learn more about Unity and also try to AT LEAST make one level for my game idea.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

My name is Nia and I'm a 2D Animation Student! This is my very first game jam and I'm really excited to be trying something I've been longing to do.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

Nope!

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

There's too many to count!! I Most recently I have been inspired by Mystic Messenger. I sort of saw myself being able to do something similar because of my skills in art and storytelling.  Aside from that, I really love The Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing,  Stardew Valley, and the occasional indie RPG maker games on itch.io!

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Not really. I fiddled around with RPG maker a long time ago but I was too intimidated to make anything for real.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I love storytelling! Stories can evoke so much feeling and action, as well as shine a light on a new perspective.  I love the process of brainstorming and developing compelling, unique characters.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Make and finish a short game! I'm aiming to finish even if it's a bit unpolished.  :)

2D animator here too! Looking forward to seeing all the cool stuff you make and animate - cheers!

(+2)

First of all, thanks to the community for the opportunity given to first time game devs. It certainly can be intimidating!

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

I'm reyabreu, can call me just Rey.  A seasoned Java enterprise dev for a living (I know, boring) but an avid gamer, reader and movie watcher  - maybe a bit older that your typical audience but still young at heart. I've recently started on my journey of learning the essentials of gamedev in the hopes of it becomimg an established hobby where I can do something much more creative and meet likewise minded people. English is a second language so please be forgiving of any errors...

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

  • Never been in a Game Jam before. Heck I've never programmed in a competition before
  • I intend to do my best to actually finishing my own game. I'm really bad at art, sound or design though....
  • I want to learn the essential skills to produce a game that someone will actually enjoy playing

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

So many games I've played over the years... Let's see.  I tend to enjoy more linear narratives instead of open world:

  • Limbo, Inside, Shadow of the Colossus, Katamari Damacy, ABZU, SuperHot, Alien: Isolation, Papers Please, God Of War, Ryse: Son Of Rome
  • Starcraft, XCom, Civilization, Total War and Tropico Series
  • Mad Max, Skyrim, Just Cause 3, Tomb Raider, Last of Us, Sniper Elite 3, Mirror's Edge, Subnautica
  • Hearthstone, Poly Bridge,  Turmoil, Swat 4, Transport Tycoon,  SpaceChem, Psychonauts, Machinarium, Minecraft

Board games: 7 Wonders, Setllers of Catan, Agricola, Age of The Dragon, Ticket To Ride

I'd love to make a game with a compelling story such as Papers Please - which I hold as a masterpiece. It made me start looking into gamedev with more conviction.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Nope, no "formal" experience with gamedev. I started programming many years ago, but focused on more "serious" problems for commercial or academic applications. After I saw the success of Minecraft, I started looking into gamedev with Java and gamemaker studio first, but dropped them after I realized the huge amount of effort it involved to do something reasonably acceptable.  I took it again recently after doing some tutorials on Unity and Godot on Udemy (specially fond of Godot!)

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I think games are another type of media vehicle that hasn't been fully developed yet in it's potential for telling compelling stories and even change our minds - like books or movies. I think that unfortunately most game dev is still heavily technical. Creative and writer types face a bit of a steep learning curve before being able to produce valuable content. I personally don't care much about the next fps or "retro" platformer (which have been done to saturation) but for creative ways of visually telling stories or innovative use of inmersion (like Superhot).

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Finally make a game from start to finish which  I am not too ashamed to put on display!

7. Any advice to new jammers (if you're a veteran)?

None. I'm very willing to take advice though!

8. If you're a returning jammer, what can the admins do to improve your jam experience?

Hope to answer this later

Kudos for adding Transport Tycoon on that list. I have been playing that game for over two decades and it's my Friday 'unwinding from long week of work' game, Rey :)
So glad that there's an awesome community still supporting Open TTD

Hey, who can resist the appeal of trains and logistics?

like minecrafting and red stone circuits ;)

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

(My "name" is Star. I'm a new dev.)

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

(I did not, but I just got done participating in the Dream Diary Jam. I'm joining to continue getting better, because I'm still not great.)

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

(I have a few. I absolutely loved OFF, from Mortis Ghost. I also like Mirror's Edge, Portal, Silent Hill 2, and Alice: Madness Returns. Mirror's Edge inspired me to make games in the first place, but Alice: Madness Returns influenced my style from then on.)

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

(I have about six hundred hours experience in RPG Maker MV, but it's my first engine and I still can't code.)

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

(I love art and writing. I also love psychological horror. It's my dream to combine them into a video game.)

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

(My goal is to finish a written concept I had for a short adventure game awhile back. I'd also like to make the deployment a smoother process, because last time my game was 500 mb.)

7. Any advice to new jammers (if you're a veteran)?

(No veteran, but set a timeline. And have a back-up plan for everything, because odds are something is going to take way too long.)

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hello! My name's Steven and this is my first real game jam. I've always had a passion for all gaming and play. From a lifetime of playing, I think of video games as the culmination of so many art forms that makes it one of the most amazing forms of expression and entertainment.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I have signed up for one other jam in the past, but my project just completely fell apart. I told myself I wouldn't sign up for another jam unless I was determined to finish it, and here I am. Thats what I plan on improving, lol.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

So many... What first comes to mind today would be Metal Gear Solid, Splinter Cell, Legend of Zelda, Virtual Battle Space, and most all of the popular games released on all consoles throughout all time. I've always had a taste for everything, and that applies to video games as well.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I've done tutorials and made little things (never a full game) on a few engines. Construct 2, GameMaker Studio 1, Unreal Engine, and Unity. I've been at community college for too long, studying programming (C++),  and have chosen Unity over Unreal as the workflow works with my way of thinking, and I've come to enjoy  coding in C#.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Video games of course! I also put a lot of importance on good design, not just in games, and think every game should be fun to play. Most of all, co-operative experiences, gaming with friends, intense emotions like tension and hilarity, that's what I want to bring more of to the world. Nothing better than a great co-op game with some good friends!

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Make a complete experience, learn a few key aspects of  the Unity  game engine,  and get a better idea of what it truly takes to make a complete project.

If you read this, thanks for taking the time to. This is my first time out in the wild wild west talking about my passions online. Good luck to everyone!!!

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

My name is Matias, and this is my first Jam, so hopefully i will be able to make at least a game with a playable level :)

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

Nope, this is my first Jam! I hope it goes good! :) I wanted to try something new, and try to make a very simple game and see if i can at least a few levels.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I've a lot of favorite games, usually strategy ones (turned based), one of the old games i love is called Space Empires IV, one of my long term goals is to sometime be able to do a 4X game. But for now i'll settle with something more simple :P

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I'm a was a developer (ABAP!) and .NET for hobby, but no for gaming :P.

I've tried several different engines, Unity, Construct, Leadweks, Gamemaker, Appgame kit, Clickteam, etc. Messed around a bit with them to see how they work, but never really made anything worth calling a game :P

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I love everything related to gaming (obviously :P), programming, and information security!

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Make a somewhat playable game with at least one level :D

7. Any advice to new jammers (if you're a veteran)?

8. If you're a returning jammer, what can the admins do to improve your jam experience?

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hi everyone, my name is Liam and I am brand new (aside from tutorials) to game dev.  I hope to make a working game, preferably with a team, and have fun doing so!

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I have never participated in any game jam but I’ve been interested for a few years.  I’m joining so that I can prove to myself that this is something I can actually do.  I always felt like people that participated in these jams were part of such a cool and diverse community.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I have many favorite games as I’ve been playing video games for over a decade.  The Witcher series, Stellaris, Starcraft, Pokémon and Banjo Kazooie to name a few.  The game that semi inspires the one I hope to make is ratchet and clank.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I’m familiar with Unity but I’ve never made a complete game of my own. In fact, I’ve never made my own game on any engine lol.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Obviously video games!  But I also love movies and tv shows, mostly fantasy/sci fi (lord of the rings, black sails etc).  Anime as well, see: one punch man.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

I want to make a working game, meet new people, learn a lot and have a fun time!  Any advice or constructive criticism along the way is appreciated.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hello! I'm Papyrusse and this is my first game jam!

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

No it's a first for me! I've wanted to try game development and I hope to finish somoething.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

Well, it's a tough choice. I love strategy games,  RPG and platformers. One of my favorite games is Battle for Wesnoth, an open source, turn-based strategy game of the early 2000's so I would like to make something in the same vein one day.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I've messed a bit with Gamemaker some time ago but nothing serious.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Well I love all kinds of games, pixel art and music !

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

I would like to finish something.

Hello, I'm Brupibo (Bee Tracks is my "studio" name).

I'm late to the introduction, I'll try to be short.

I'm a hobbist Brazilian developer, my goal is make games that anyone can play. My focus is in very casual gamers.

I already participated in other jams, but not in MyFirstGameJam. In this jam my goal is to make a game that I failed in my actual first jam (GameDevFort's IGMC 2015), because I lacked knowledge.

I use App Game Kit and, although I don't master it, I'm pretty comfortable using it, so if any newcomers have interest in it but are struggling, feel free to ask me. I'm @beetracks on Twitter.

P.S.: I only make 2D games, so I know nothing about AGK's 3D commands. If you need help in this area I can't help unfortunately.

My inspiration for this one will be underwater stages of Donkey Kong Country.

Good luck to all participants! And have fun!!

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hi! My name's Julia :D

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

No, I've never participated in a jam before. I joined because I wanted to learn the basics on how to make a game!

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

My favourite games are Skyrim, Stardew Valley, Okami, and Harvest Moon: Animal Parade!

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I have no experience and game development, but Im eager to get some!

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I love building stories, and creating interesting, emotionally moving characters!

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

To get my feet wet, so to speak, and start to familiarize myself with game design.

7. Any advice to new jammers (if you're a veteran)?

8. If you're a returning jammer, what can the admins do to improve your jam experience?

1. Heya! Dan McAdam. I'm pretty much brand new to gamedev. I'm a massage therapist and trying to kickstart an audiobook narration/VO career. If anybody want some voice acting for your game let me know, I'm happy to pitch in!

2. Nope. I have some free time at the moment and decided to follow game design, a passion I never really got around to pursuing. A jam seems like the perfect motivation to push myself to take on bigger tasks and learn new things.

3. I've always been a fan of the Metal Gear Solid games. The quirky humor, pure camp and over the top narrative and meta narratives are just too good. I also really enjoy roguelikes like nethack, C: DDA, Dwarf Fortress etc. but my primary inspiration for the game I chose for the jam is probably games like Enter the Gungeon and Nuclear Throne with their fast based, top down dodging gameplay

4. Not really. I played around in Unity trying to learn how to make VR games but didn't get very far at all. In the week I've been using Godot I've learned a lot more than I ever did in the 2 weeks I messed with Unity.

5. Game design. I love theory crafting systems and working out how I think a game will work. I'm excited to finally get a chance to put those theories to the test!

6. To learn Godot and better understand how to make the games I want to play. I also am hoping to pick up some knowledge from my fellow devs via osmosis lol

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hello. I'm NK. I have a background in art and design, but I'm inexperienced with programming.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I did not. This is my first game jam ever.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

My all time favorite game is Killer 7. In addition to the works of Suda51, I'm really inspired by Hideki Kamiya, Shinji Mikami, and Hideo Kojima. More recently, I've become a big fan of Sean Velasco after playing Shovel Knight.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I've done a couple of the built in tutorials for Game Maker. In terms of asset creation, I've done some sprites and animations for a roommate's project. I occasionally found errors in some of his GML code, if that counts. Aside from that, not a lot.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Apart from video games, I enjoy table top war games (Warmachine, specifically) and Magic the Gathering.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Honestly, just to finish something that runs, hopefully with a title screen, gameplay that won't crash.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

I go by AMcGinty and I'm an  animator.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

Nope! I've never been in a game jam before!

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I really like games with deep characters and stories.
I enjoy playing rhythm games and puzzle game.
The kind of games I want to make are cute horror games!

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I have messed around with the Ren'py engine before but have never made anything final in it. So that's my goal!

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I'm passionate about animation, gaming and creating stories for others to connect to and enjoy.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

To make something small that people can play and what leaves them wanting more of my work.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hi! My name is Diana and I'm super excited to be here!

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I've never participated in a game jam, and I'm joining because I want to start learning to use Unity and improve my skills as a software developer and designer. I have a lot of free time this summer and I'm lousy at teaching myself stuff without a deadline, so this is the perfect environment (hopefully)!

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I recently started playing Stardew Valley, which is a major inspiration for our game jam project. Other games I've loved over the past couple of years include Metal Gear Solid V, Monster Hunter World, Persona 5, God of War, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. I've been a fan of video games since my childhood and have gathered lots of inspiration from different games throughout the years.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I've made a few games as class assignments, including clones of Snake, Frogger and Galaga. These were all made with teaching libraries, so I'm eager to learn to use more professional tools.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I love cats!

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

I want to produce a game that's fun and satisfying to play, with mechanics and code I can be proud of and keep improving upon.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hi everyone! My name os Fábio, I'm from Brazil and i'm studying to become a computer scientist and, perhaps, a game developer

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I did not. Also, this is going to be my first jam! Being part of one game jam could help me to get organized and to finally be able to conclude some game project, what also could lead me to new projects.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

If you look at my avatar, you can tell I love Donkey Kong. I personaly love the third of the original trilogy to most, but I also really enjoy Returns and Tropical Freeze as well. And yes, they inspire me to create something as good and fun.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Eeeh, not quite. I played around before, but nothing really came out of it. Unity is the engine that I liked the most, and I felt more comfortable. I tried to make a Tycoon style game, but I might have overcomplicaded in the process and I left behind.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

To play a good game hahaha. Also, I like to spend some time with friends and to try learning/improving some language (Now I'm improving my English, and also starting from the bottom to learn Japanese)

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

To finally be able to conclude one game, even if it end out being a lame one. Plus, getting experience with game jams is really nice.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hi I'm Taylor. This is my first game jam and I do accessibility web development for a living.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

Nope this is my first Jam! I joined so I would finally finish a game in Unity.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I love games like Animal Crossing, The Sims, Pokemon, Stardew Valley. Those are all great games but I think too large of a scope for me to attempt at the moment. I'd love to work on a project with expressive features like those in the future.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I've made a few web games before, and even wrote my own JavaScript game engine. But I'll be using Unity for this jam. I took a class in it and never really finished a game.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I like Hair Metal. Like Van Halen, Whitesnake, and Bon Jovi. But not Poison or Motley Crue. I still have taste.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Make some pixel art! Use Unity! Finish it!

7. Any advice to new jammers (if you're a veteran)?

N/A

8. If you're a returning jammer, what can the admins do to improve your jam experience?

N/A

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hey! I'm Luna. I am a completely newbie game developer. Before this, I've considered myself a writer, but I'm trying to branch out. Besides, I'm dying to actually get a project done.
I'm using GameMaker, so I'm coding with GML.
I've also never made pixel art or music before, so this game jam is introducing me to... A little bit of everything!

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?
This is my first game jam. I appreciate how open it is to beginners, and the atmosphere has convinced me not to place my expectations too high. It seems like the perfect way to test the waters of game design and learn a bit about the trade.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?
Stardew Valley and Undertale both affected my views on games. Firstly, they made me want to learn pixel art. Secondly, they inspired me to make both silly, fun, joyful games (Like Stardew) and deep, meaningful games (Like Undertale). This game is definitely more of the former. It's my first time, after all.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?
The only thing I have experience with is the silly little space shooter tutorial in GameMaker. That said, I think I'm picking up on programming fairly quickly.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!
Dungeons and Dragons is definitely a recent passion of mine. Other than that, I just like telling stories and making people happy through those stories.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?
My goals are simple. I want to make a silly platformer with a single decently sized level and basic mechanics (Though I intend to do at least *something* unique with the controls), with pixel graphics and a musical theme for the level. Basically, I'm dabbling in a little bit of everything that goes into game design, and the final result isn't as important as the journey.

I hope everyone has fun with this jam!!
