I tried to understand the mechanics but they felt a bit way too obscure so when I really needed to use that knowledge I didn't know what to do DD:

Mechanics aside, the presentaiton is so *chef's kiss*

It felt a bit empty in the begining wwith no music and being so simple with so much empty space but whe I heard the sound effects oh mygaud O_O THEN I felt the mood of the game and I LOVE IT

That slow pace mood a bit quiet but imposing and misterious at the same time :DDD

I could've explained mechanics better through gameplay, just in case there's a cheatsheet in the description that is just as a cheesy way to suppress the terrible explanation this game gives. thanks for checking out :D

Great game, but three points of advice:

1. There were too many "tutorial levels" at the start. I found myself getting frustrated by the number of easy puzzles at the start before the actual puzzles started.

2. I know this is going to sound like I'm contradicting myself, but the mechanics were hard to understand and could definitely be explained a little better. I know, I'm complaining about how long the tutorial is one minute and then the next, claiming that the tutorial wasn't good enough, but having me do a bunch of simple, extremely easy puzzles isn't going to help me understand the really complex ones that come up afterwards. I took me until the level before the "valley of flowers" level to really understand all of the mechanics.

3. This is a small thing compared to my first and seconds points, but the "level complete" sound effect is kind of annoying to me. I really like the water splash sound effects, just not the other one.

Overall really good game, and the first one that I have played in this jam that is getting an average score above 4.

edit: Looking at the other comments, it seems like everyone came to the same conclusion that I did (at least with points 1 and 2).

Developer

That's right! I shouldn't have made them tutorials that's for sure, I think making them more of "figure it out yourself" would be more fun and easier to remember, I'll consider doing that the next time. Thanks for the review :D

I won't lie I hate puzzle games so for this jam I mostly pass them up, but your game does so many things right! When I figure out a solution its super fast and satisfying to execute by clicking through the chain of blocks. The mechanics are simple but make for really complex puzzles. I think what does it for me the most is you can try to brute force puzzles when you get stuck. Randomly trying things doesn't usually end up in a solution but a few times it helped figure out what it is by experimenting.

The only downside is what others have said, the tutorial was long and gave away mechanics for free by sort of explaining what was going on. I think the idea is so intuitive you really only need to introduce each block type and then start from there. I would LOVE to see more from this game! I think a cool addition would be a timed mode where the goal is to solve puzzles as quickly as possible, because going from "what the heck is going on?" to "OH" and rapidly clicking away blocks is so satisfying. Great job!!

Developer

Thanks! I'll consider that next gamejam. Appreciate the review :D

Only game so far that gets a perfect 5 stars in each catogory from me. The tutorial is way too long, but holy hell does it open up to a satisfying, fun, good looking and great sounding game. It's got a sudoku like quality and I want an app version to play on the bus. Amazing stuff!

Developer

Thanks!

Never have I seen a game where the name fits the game as well as this. Wonderful concept, well done!

Developer

Glad you liked it :D

I may be too dumb or this is a little confusing especially the reverse button lol. I ended up just click on everything and work on muscle memories xD Good job. It looks simple yet the puzzle is quite fun and challenging!

Developer

The mechanic could really be explained better. Developer can never blame the player for not understanding the game, so I needed to explain it better. Not very good that levels can be completed randomly D:. Thanks for the review :D

Really challenging and well executed idea! Took me a while to beat the last level, but I did it! Just a critique: I think you shouldn’t name so name levels as “introductions”, I think teaching mechanics through more level design is much more interesting than text and “introduction” levels. Overall an excellent game!

Developer

Yeah I kind of messed up with introductions, people pointed out the sheer amount of tutorial levels here, so it's somewhat quantity over quality. I didn't have much time to think levels through, so they are kind of boring. Thanks for the review ;D

This one is a brain scratcher! It is pretty easy to understand but gets pretty complex along the way. I think that there might be a bit too much content that feels like tutorial, becaue you only focus on the one mechanic when introducing it. If you could somehow incorporate the new mechanic into a bit more complex levels I think it would feel better. Otherwise this is a really neat game! Well done!

Developer(+1)

There definitely is too many tutorial levels but I think people might find it difficult to wrap around their minds, so I had to somehow convey what things do. More mechanics does sound interesting, I have one mechanic that I've implemented but never used in levels because it felt redundant.  Thanks for feedback :D

Very cool how a simple concept becomes very complex when you chain them together like that. Nice work.

Developer

Thank you! It's inspired by binary computing system.

really nicely made game. much harder than i expected it to be at the beginning -- there's a great curve to the difficulty. i was afraid at first that the puzzles would be the kind where i could get away with randomly clicking until something worked, but these levels keep me thoughtful. great job!

Developer

Thanks :D. The puzzles could be a little more thoughtful, they were made in less than 6 hours so I didn't had much time to design, so I'm really glad you liked it

This is a very fun puzzle game: it definitely has baba is you vibes. The tutorial also explains everything wonderfully. The only thing I wish it had was a level select screen.

Developer

I definitely had a level select in mind, but time ran out before I could D:

Walking through the valley of flowers is like walking through hell. Couldn't finish the game... my brain weak. I cannot believe you did that in just two days though - INCREDIBLE. It was very fun and I can't imagine what you went through to create the levels (I still don't know what follows after the valley of flowers xd) but it was very well made (i don't do puzzle games usually but tomorrow morning, when my brain has refreshed I would probably try again). Good job!

Developer

Thank you! The transition to Valley of flowers was probably too steep, but that's maximum I could do. Spoiler: After valley of flowers there's the end screen, I couldn't handle making the levels anymore. End screen shows total time, and amount of moves and undoes

Submitted

Oh.. I shouldn't have read the spoiler :) anyways I'm going to try again tomorrow, I really want to pass the level, it's kinda addicting

I absolutely love this game. It is interesting, looks good and the sound is juicy. I found that the reverse was acting kind of odd tho.

Developer

Yeah, it is a bit confusing. Try using the cheatsheet. But essentially, the reverse, reverses the locked state of the cell, so if cell is locked, it gets unlocked, if cell is unlocked, it gets locked. Vice versa if cell is locked it gets unlocked. When reverse points to each-other, they evaluate that multiple times. Assuming an unlocked cell: First reverse locks it, second reverse does the opposite, and unlocks it.
