Le temps de Escargot is a nice and quick top down shooter game where you play a magical girl that has the power to slow down enemy movement. Apparently what I understand from the developer is that it was made in regards to the Paris Commune (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_Commune). The game is really short but the mechanics and gameplay are all playable. I've enjoyed this little game and hope to see more from the developer.

I gave this one a play finally! Worth noting that my anti-virus did not like it at all on my gaming pc, but my laptop (with the same antivirus) didn't seem to have a problem with it.

My favorite aspect was the setting and concept! Definitely a unique take on the genre of magical girls, with tons of potential. I do wish there was a bit more story integrated into the game, but it's a jam, so I understand that the scope probably needed to be cut down as the jam progressed.

The gameplay works, but did have a few bugs. I got pushed outside of the playable area on the bottom left of the map (an enemy rammed me through the wall). I gave it a second play, and managed to clear the map and beat the boss! One other stray gameplay note, it did feel like the slow bomb was too quick to be a ton of use. I stopped using it after a point because of this.

The map itself is fine, but could use a little more work on the layout to feel like more of a place, and less of a game arena.

Sound FX and music didn't make it into this version from what I saw. That could definitely add to the experience if you're continuing work on this entry.

Unfortunately, the game doesn't seem to work for me. The menu works fine and I was able to get through the intro (which is an interesting premise!) but it just sits there and the game never starts. I'm on Windows, if it's helpful I can provide more system info.

Quick thoughts here since I couldn't record my thoughts as I played:

+ I appreciated the full screen option (even if it wouldn't go full screen on the monitor I wanted it on).

+ Intro doesn't go on too long and is surprisingly free of typos and grammar issues

- Intro is just white text on black background. Not interesting and makes it a little hard to understand what's going on.

- Game needs sound & music

- Being bombarded by multiple shots right away is a bit harsh. It's generally best to start the player off in a "safe zone" so they can get oriented to the controls before throwing the enemies at them.

+ Movement seems to have a good balance of "fast, but not too fast."

- Movement is a bit buggy (I would release one arrow key as I was pressing down another which occasionally caused the character to stop moving altogether)

+ There are 2 types of enemies + 1 boss

+ You need to be somewhat strategic to approach the enemies properly.

+ Enemies are defeated with 1 - 2 shots; boss takes multiple hits, but life bar is displayed at the top so you know how many more shots are needed.

- I ran into the left side of the cemetery and somehow teleported to the bottom-left corner of the map. This is on top of a roof, so I had no way of getting down. (I would have taken a screenshot, but the game crashed when I tried)

Summary

This is a solid start to a game. It lacks polish and is only 1 level, but the core experience is present and fun. Good job!

We're working on bug fixes for most of the stuff you've mentioned. I agree that the game throws a lot at you right away, and we'll definitely try to adjust that to give a better difficulty curve. Sound and music are also planned to be added, but we ran out of time since we were prioritizing getting the game into a playable/winnable state. Some images for the intro are also something I'd like to add. We'll be continuing to work on and polish the game, so if you're interested, you can check back after voting finishes to try an improved version. 

Do you think you could elaborate about the game not going full screen on the monitor you wanted it on? Any information on how to replicate it, including how your screens were set up, what OS you were using, etc. would be very helpful.

Unfortunately, the non-resizable screen was FAR to small for me to see what was going on in the game. From what I could see, I could play it for a bit, but the shooting felt clunky at best. The enemies felt like they were frankly cheating.

Well, we were actually planning to display the graphics at 2x size (among other things), but we ran out of time. We're going to keep working on the game though, so if you check back after voting is over, there might be an updated version. There's also a full screen option that might help a bit, though it's a bit blurry at the moment.
