In what way does your game fit the theme?
You cooperate with your scientist partner, who asks you to create objects. Working together, makes them better.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes. All the code and assets are done by us during this week, except for the main song. The song and musician are mentioned in the credits menu.

Nice work!

Good application of the theme. The time limit contributed a lot, since it may have been a bit boring without that.

I thought the graphics were very pretty everywhere except the main gameplay area (which the player spends most of their time in). If that got a face-lift, everything would look great. Nice work with the pixel art.

The timer was a bit out of position, probably because I am on a 1920x1200 monitor.

I enjoyed playing!

Yes, the canvas isn't adapted to all resolutions... Sorry :P Glad you liked it! Thanks for playing!

The visuals were definitely the strong category here. The gameplay was very simplistic with trial and error. The sound design was decent but nothing to crazy was done here. The menu system was fantastic. The main game issues was the intro was a bit annoyingly long especially with how easy it was to lose. And sometimes the combinations didn't make complete sense. This had a lot of polish but I think focusing on end user experience would have been nice.

I streamed it here:

Thanks for playing and glad you liked it! Yes, it will be polished after the gamejam, cause it needs some love on that department :P

Wow this was surprisingly fun! This is great for an arcade-y high score based game. It was a bit annoying to have to listen to the scientist explain how to play each time, but still a great time.

Will be skippable after the gamejam. Thanks for playing!

Really hard game and you have to watch the tutorial over and over again when you fail. Good concept but this is frustrating.

Art:

  • Everything looks readable which is good

  • There seems to be a mix of high-res and low-res which I’m not a fan of

  • Some of the colors are a bit too low in contrast. I’d suggest using a pre-made palette from a site like Lospec

  • There’s quite a lot of mixels

Main Menu:

  • Looks good as a whole

  • I appreciate you adding a mute button. I won’t click it so I can critique the audio too but most games don’t add one so it’s always nice when they do

  • Transitions look good

  • The tutorial text is quite blurry but I think that might be intentional

Game:

  • The dialogue goes by a bit too fast

  • Typo: “merge 2 components of the table” => “merge 2 components on the table”

  • When you retry the game you have to go through all the dialogue again which is a bit of a pain

  • It’s not very clear what some of the solutions are. It seems like a lot of trial and error is involved which I’m not a fan of. Edit: It becomes more clear as you start to recognise patterns. Most solutions seem to only require 2 materials

  • It’s really satisfying once you start getting the hang of it

  • Nice attention to detail with Darude Sandstorm

Thanks for playing and for the huge amount of feedback! Appreciate it really! A few notes:

-Both on the How to play menu, and the professor dialogue, it says it has to be 2 components, so ALL the solutions are made of 2 components. We might add something to make it more clear that it's all made of 2 components, no more.

-Dialogue goes by fast cause there wasn't a way to skip it, so when playing more than one time it was kinda tedious to read it all again. On the new version we will upload when gamejam finishes, text goes slower, but you can skip it.

-Typo is corrected aswell for the upcoming version, sorry :P

-Glad you liked Darude, like everyone does :D

Haha, despite seeing the professor dialogue like 20 times I still missed that somehow, thanks for letting me know

Edit: And I even quoted it in my comment 🤦‍♂️

Hahahaha no problem!

Cute game, gave me a lot of memories of the games you'd find in educational games in the 90s/early 00s. I agree with some others that some solutions were maybe not as clear but I still had fun.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad it gave you some good memories back :)

This game was tough! I enjoyed the idea though I often struggled to tell what each symbol meant. Music was great!

The game is simple but the sprites are very nice :)
