Really impressive environment work. I can't believe how much stuff you filled that house with! The theme and limitation were both very well integrated into how the game works, and I love the level design style where you gradually open up more areas.

Sound effects were really well implemented, but it could have done with more from an atmospheric point of view - either some ambient sounds, or a bit of music is the only thing missing. Implementing an inventory system was impressive, but I don't think the items wrapped on the grid properly - there were a couple of notes I couldn't read because they'd disappeared off screen. I'm glad they're in there, though, was fun poking around all the hiding spots to find them.

thank you for playing my game, I appreciate your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed it and many thanks for the kind words, I wonder why the background music was not playing for you because I do put some in I'll look into that, as well as those inventory bugs you found. Thank you very much 😊

Edit: I'll play your game as soon as I get home from work πŸ‘

Loved it!

It's the first game here I saw that was made in Unreal Engine and I was not disappointed! It is also the only game here that I finished until now.

The only thing that I think you should do is tell the players that the papers have clues in them..☺

Hey thank you for playing my game! I appreciate you taking the time to play it and I am glad that you enjoyed it. Thank you for the feedback. I didn't even think about telling them in main menu or at the start and probably would have been a better route to go. I put one note down that had that in there but probably would have been better to do it at the start so to avoid any confusion. I am about to try your game right now :

Hi there, I ended up downloading and playing (with another machine that already had directx runtime installed) and glad I did. I thought you nailed the theme, executed it really well (no bugs) and was fun to play. You hid the keys really well, not too hard or too easy to find.

These are my main points of feedback.

  • There was quite a few different controls to remember, might help the player to show them on screen at all times.
  • I don't think I ever needed the flashlight or jump to finish the game. I would consider removing these mechanics or make them required in some way to find a key.
  • Might help to show the text of a note as soon as you pick it up as opposed to requiring the user to go in to the inventory to check
  • Also, I noticed that the text in the inventory gets cut off for items on the far right

Hope this feedback helped, great job overall :)

Hey I'm glad you decided to give it a try and enjoyed the game, I appreciate the kind words and feedback. I was totally debating with whether or not to have controls on screen at all times, probably should have done middle route and had them in option menu at the very least. I put the flashlight in cause it was a bit darker and it might help folks to see if they needed it, but should have done something with the jump like hid a key in a high spot. I tinkered around with opening notes right away but I couldn't get it to feel smooth enough to include in the final build but is something I definitely want to work on for future projects. I appreciate you taking the time to play my game and give me valuable and detailed feedback your awesome! πŸ‘

Well executed!!  That was really fun and clever.  No complaints at all, controls were smooth, wasn't too easy or too hard, music and sounds were great, aesthetic was consistent.  You even had sparkles around the interactive items.  Well done.  Great game for the jam and for the time frame! (PS I know some people complained but I am glad you didn't have creepy music.)

Honestly I can't wait to see what else you might add after the jam voting ends.  It's like an escape room game, I love it.  Maybe the notes will give clues to other things / story or you'll be able to interact with more things in the house?    Maybe someone walking around the house you need to avoid?  Very cool and a lot of potential here!

Thank you for playing my game, I'm happy you enjoyed it. I will probably add more and update the game sometime after the jam with more content for players to enjoy. I appreciate the feedback a ton.

Great game I really loved the aesthetic. And the keys were really impressive. I really liked the creepiness although I think that you missed out on an opportunity to make the music really creepy. Great game I really enjoyed.

awesome thank you very much playing ☺️ I'm happy you enjoyed it! I was totally going for a slightly creepy vibe with no cheap jump scares. Though maybe should have put a few more creepy elements into it. I like eerie vibes πŸ˜›

For a game made in a week it looks amazing. I will just suggest to fix the UI as some of the text in inventory goes out of screen.

Developer(+1)

Hey thank you for playing my game, thanks for  the kind words and letting me know about the UI bug. This was my first time ever implementing a inventory of any kind so I'll figure out a way to fix that for future projects. I hope you enjoyed the game otherwise πŸ™‚
