please nerf bleeding and trash

Dr. Kel floods the entire base with blood from falling one meter or bumping into a door, and it gets really annoying because you have to clean all of it on top of the existing trash and stains everywhere.

Then, while working on 0.9, Nose apparently decided the base still wasn’t dirty enough:
“Hey MrDrNose, can you please nerf bleeding?”
“Sure, give me a second while I add even more trash to the base.”

Like, no normal human being is capable of making this kind of mess.

Cleaning is still fun at first, but when there’s too much of it, the game stops feeling like a signal-collecting paranoia horror game and starts feeling like a cleaning simulator with side quests involving signals and hash codes.

Now imagine being a new player without a shovel. You can’t even buy one from the store, and it only spawns in a few hidden locations that new players somehow have to discover on their own. Without it, you can’t dig up trash piles, and trash bags only hold a single pile each.

The game is still really fun overall, and yes, I know I can disable physical damage, but that also removes part of the immersion. I don’t want to jump off a cliff and walk away completely unharmed. The only thing I genuinely dislike is the excessive trash & bleeding.

I just clean over the course of my game whenever signals are downloading. I honestly think the amount of trash is fine, and it's meant to be used for crafting also it is not meant to be from one person. The base clearly used to be ran by multiple people until Kel took over.

Aww, I kind of liked the game being a cleaning simulator. Also bleeding can be mitigated by disabling physics damage. So any bleeding you do is from combat.

Yup, agree completely. I think one issue with the game's design, is that there are "secrets" you are just expected to know. Either have an sub-optimal gameplay experience or have the wiki open the side.

  • Traversing sucks? -Oh there's that hidden pair of boots at TR3.
  • Battery drain makes ATV unusable and the charger costs 2000 points? -There's one at TR2 for grabs!
  • The start is too hard! -Sell the 43 MREs in that hidden log!

I am aware that I can disable physics damage and I explained why I won't already.

There's a separate option for disabling just bleeding without removing physics damage.

As a player who only started playing in 0.8.2 back in October IMO the game isn't really too hard on the "normal" difficulty setting. ATV drain isn't that intense and without knowing about the charger I was easily able to find it anyways and learn how to hook it up myself. Didn't sell the MRE's either because it feels like cheating and I'm still able to make more than enough to do all the daily tasks. Traversing doesn't even really suck without the boots I mean how often are you going around the landscape on foot I just drive everywhere.

I do think the blood loss is super annoying though I like everything to be squeaky clean so the blood dropping and being persistent is not for my tastes.

hey, wait, why should a player turn off some mechanics in the game because it was made through the ass? maybe this is a developer's problem and he need to fix it, not just turn them off? If something in the game doesn't work or work like shit, it's not the player's fault.

If you don't want to turn off the setting then don't. Bleeding is not a problem in my opinion and there are multiple bandages around the base to stop bleeding not to mention you can buy more. And if you think it is a problem, the dev was kind enough to give you setting to turn it off.

That's exactly what you think. Your opinion. Others' opinions may not coincide with yours, in addition, the position "if you don't like something, then don't play it, turn it off, go away and be quiet" regarding this game also does not appeal to me, because feedback is needed for this, if my memory serves me correctly. I know you love this game and you're fine with it from version to version, but this doesn't apply to everyone. As the author of the post correctly said, disabling some kind of mechanics affects immersiveness. I would like to play a game in which everything is balanced and one thing does not spoil the atmosphere. In addition, the developer mercifully shortened the duration of the bleeding. It looks like he's still listening to requests, even though we've been asking for the old management for six months now.

Not sure why you assume i love every version of the game. I only just got over my hatred of the new controls, i wish they would bring back the old controls but i can deal. I also preferred the original base to the current, more modern one but i get that it was a design choice. Its one thing to provide some constructive critisicism but saying that the mechanics are "made through ass", whatever that means, and that his game mechanics are shit is just dumb, especially when the fix is in the settings for you, maybe they'll add a config for bleeding or something down the line but for now you can turn it off if it's too bothersome.

i thought trash was a load of bullshit till like an hour into the game when i found out about trashbags and that i could sell them for money, it felt so absurdly satisfying to clean up the base AND earn money at the same time i could never imagine the game without those disgusting piles. Also, i'll have to look into the shovel, idk what it does yet but you said it has something to do with the trash?

(+1)

oh, use it on trash piles (moveable ones) to get one trash unit. black it's  rubber, green - electronic, white  it's  papers, ect. if you  need some trash for scrap. or sale. you can also save some electronic and glass scrap to make fuses with copper wire from crates or other containers. happy playing to you.

I do agree that the bleeding seems kind of excessive. Like I just fell 6 feet and landed on my feet, why am I leaving a trail of blood all the way from TR-3 to the treehouse?

Personally I find the cleaning part of the game really relaxing

guys you can buy a rake and use it to clean up the trash piles like the shovel. it costs 500 bucks but its worth it cuz it also makes farming much cleaner cuz it doesnt make dirt clumps like the shovel does.

(+1)

in new n-version you also can use dirt clumps, just put them into empty pots to make farming pots! two clumps - one pot, you need shovel anyway, but FINALLY NOSE MADE SOMETHING USEFUL.
