Oh, resident ai hater was not meant as an insult. You just seem to circle back to that topic even on topics that are not about ai... And that you are an ai hater is often obvious by your choice of words.
I do not care much about ai assets and would not buy a game on Steam that has those. But for indie games, using ai is about as bad as using a premade engine or stock images. With gen ai, a developer can at least have some creative input. It's not the same input as with doing it by hand, but using a stylus and telling the draw app to draw a circle or apply a color filter is not exactly doing things by hand. And neither is using a rendering software and 3d models. Using gen ai is more like how a photographer is creative by deciding what is in the image and chosing which image to use for the publication.
When the ethical and energy aspects are dealt with, what is left from the anti ai arguments? Photography managed to become an established art. They do not paint. They just capture light of existing things. And for the replacement of commissioned artists, well, there is procedural ai, stock images and all the people asking for free art. So nah. Anti ai needs to be future proof. And that will need to go by preference for human made art, not by shortsighted ai hate.
