A really solid prototype! The forest tiles and backgrounds look super lush and detailed, and the music was beautiful and soothing.

I loved the player sprite, and the animations were great, especially the hair flowing upwards while falling. I'm also a big fan of the sword attack animation, it looks really sharp, simple and snappy! Movement and combat are really nice and responsive as well.

I know it probably wasn't fully intentional, but I think the lack of story and context (with even the protagonist being faceless), coupled with the lush visuals, creates a really mysterious, almost mystical atmosphere. The way the protagonist looks and moves really helps her come across as the no-nonsense, outdoorsy type. I'd say the protagonist and the overall vibe remind me a lot of the old Zelda games!

Anyway, I beat up the giant fog and had fun jumping around and finding all the hidden pieces of wood. The hidden area where the tree leaves fade out to reveal the alcove was my favorite. Great job!

I'm so glad someone found the hidden areas, they will have better stuff in them. but for now it has nothing. Also thank you for your kind words about the art and animation. and for the story i didn't have time for it, but yes she is a outdoorsy type. Thanks again :D.

Wow! What a beautiful game! The art for the environment and player/enemies is so good! It really nails the deep forest vibes.

I really liked the animations on the player with the multi-hit combo. It feels really smooth. Though returning control to the player a little earlier may help it feel snappier. I also loved the fall animation on the player, with the hair flying up, such a great detail. The game really gives me Celeste vibes, but more RPG. Love the style and the art!

As some others have said, the game froze for me a few times, but it would unfreeze when I left fullscreen. So that was manageable.

Great job and fantastic game! I would love to see where you take this!

Developer

I'm so glad you like the art, and celeste is one of the games I used as inspiration. sorry about the freezing, going to get a patch out soon. Thank you for Playing! :D

Being able to perform jumps backwards was pretty cool. Pretty nice little pirates of the Caribbean medtroivania game.

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed. Thank you for Playing!

The movement felt nice and responsive. The sword attack was maybe a little too close-range, but the ranged crystals certainly helped with that!

Developer

I'm so happy you enjoyed the movement, spent a few days just to make that feel good. Ya the crystal is good for that. Thank you for Playing!

Music is cool, didn't want to harm cute animals haha. Well Fog boss fight  was rather slow and got boring fast. probably twice less hp would be better. The game still freezes hard when see statues, probably those particles are too heavy or something. Sadly the game is short, attack on logs as tutorial was good idea. Good job

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the music. ya the boss fight is too long, I already lowed the health, just waiting for the jam to end to post it. also sorry the game was short, making everything myself is very time consuming. and sadly couldn't make it even 1/4 of what i wanted. Thanks you for playing!

I liked the visuals; the parallax increases the scale of the environment, but I had problems with the controls because I'm not used to using WASD and Space with one hand. Unfortunately, the game froze in one area and I couldn't advance, but I think the game is on the right track, congratulations!

Developer(+1)

ya sorry for lack of changing controls. but I'm so glad you enjoyed the visuals. and the freezing of the game is caused by the healing statue. I think it might be the particles around it. Thank you for playing!

My browser/the game would freeze before I could leave the 1st area. I restarted my computer twice to see maybe if it was my machine (maybe it is?) but I could not pass the first part. That being said, for all this to be made by one person was really impressive! The music was lovely!

For some reason it was the healing statue that was causing lag/ freezing on browser version. I got it better, will post a update tonight. Thank you for your kind words, but sadly I couldn't make the game even a quarter of what i wanted. but the game does have one boss. so that's a big plus. Also have been really trying to get better at making music so Thanks again. hopefully the game will works better :D.

Developer

Got it to load the next room but when ever you go next to the healing statue, it freezes for a sec. I don't know how to fix it at the moment but it better then before. sorry.

Got all the way to "Fog". Defeated it but I could not do anything else. Maybe it is because it happened as it was floating in the air?

In any case, love the aesthetics!

Developer

I forgot to give double jump after defeating fog im going to update it by tonight, sorry. and sadly I could not make more of the game, so you did beat the demo. and thank you so much, i'm glad you like how it looked!
