I absolutely love the art style, fantastic job! The parallax effect is also excellent and really adds to the atmosphere. Mixing a VN with an escape room kinda reminds me of Zero Escape, I think this has a lot of potential to become a full game. Congrats on the entry! :D

The art was really amazing! I liked the background music, it was chill. I'm not sure if this was intentional but the cutscenes of the cheery bar to the characters being dead was kinda funny just out of the sheer contrast between the scenes. Progression felt good and I thought it was really cool how you all used the foreground to show ladders.

Some sound effects may need to be lowered in volume just a bit, things like the pickaxe's sound are a little loud as of now.

I got genuinely caught off guard by the eeriness of the corpse scenes. The last time I saw it executed this well was DDLC, and that is saying a lot. Overall the audio and visuals go hand in hand very well, congratulations!

Developer

Tysm for playing and for the extremely kind comment! DDLC was one of my inspirations so I'm very flattered by the comparison <3

This is top notch I have to say. I love the way the pixel art is done and the sound design actually startled me with how viceral it would get for the visuals. The dialogue between the characters is quite short, but it was enough for me to like the characters. The way they died seems tragic, though not unexpected given the nature of what we're getting into. I presume Terry made a recording before it all ended?

The navigation itself wasn't very hard, though the walking speed being a bit slow did feel a little slower pacing wise. I mean other than that though I have no complaints! I would like to actually see something as a prequel to learn about them and how they all got together.

Thank you for playing and for the kind words!! <333

Visual novels are not usually my thing but I had a great time with this game. I liked the art style a lot. I wasn't sure some parts if they were supposed to be humorous or not, but overall pretty cool game. I did get confused on the last part and ended up getting lost a bit cause I thought I had to find the gas mask elsewhere, but that could also just be my reading comprehension skills lacking lol.

Just watched your stream of the game! I know the walking is really slow haha, I wanted the game to feel like she was moving slowly and carefully but it was a bit frustratingly slow--- I kept making the passages shorter lol

Thanks for playing!!!

Nice short game. I even if the character introduction was kind of expected and short. It really did leave me kind of feeling down after seeing there deaths . art style is nice and cozy . only complain is speed of the character . you spend 60% time on just walking .other then that all good!

Honestly even though it was simple art the art was fantastic the game itself ran great too. only input I could give is to have a check if they have already gotten that pickaxe or shovel message to not play again when doing it with the tool. but thats just me being nitpicky. great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I agree about the shovel and pickaxe messages, just didn't get around to making the logic work for it in the limited time frame ^^;

even then thats just me knitpicking, you did great :)

Never played a VN but this has me thinking ive been missing out! Love the art. Suggestion maybe having outlines on interactables. i was walking up and down for a while before i figured out what to do. Also there is a black screen after cheers and you would think the game is crushed... after spamming buttons i discovered i needed to press space.

I really liked the game and the story!
The final with the increasing heartbeat sound combined with the final choice creates a lot of tension!

Thanks for playing <3

I loved it.

First of all, I love the choice of 2D for a horror jam, it's rare!
The audio and visual design are incredible, as are the story and the choices at the end.
At first, I liked the atmosphere but didn't see the horror aspect of the game... until I found the others (their appearance once found... wow).

Then the mystery at the end...

You did a great job. I don't know if you know each other, but you should keep working together!

This comment is so sweet, thank you so much! <3

I really liked this the story was small but impactful for the amount of time it had to set up! It was just long enough that I felt sympathy toward the characters. I did the share the mask ending first I liked that you could choose, when I tried to restart the game to get the other ending I got the cut scene about getting houses next to each other but was not sure if this was meant to happen?. Overall great game one of my favourites so far!!

Developer

Oops, that's a bug! I guess right now you'd have to refresh the page to play both endings, ack. Thanks for pointing it out and thank you for playing!!! <3

Love the music and art work. I like how the story is set up. Stabs you a little bit.

I did run into a few issues.  But other than that I enjoyed playing the game.

Great use of erosion.

Developer

Hi, thanks for playing! What issues did you run into, if you don't mind elaborating? :)

Submitted(+1)

I replayed it. I think hit "space" didn't show up to continue, so I waited for a bit on my first run. The ending loops is the the other one.

- No issues, just praise below-

Still enjoyed it this run. Love the horror flute and the art.

Also the little head swivel when walking is such a nice touch and smooth * chefs kiss *

Developer

<3 ok I was just worried there might be some major bug I didn't know about! Thanks for clarifying :)))
