Short and sweet game!

Cute Sora sprite and animations. I loved the ending sequence!

I like that the game didn't blast my ears with loud music and instead has a relatvely low volume by default.

Platforming feels solid. The 2-hit combo is a neat combat mechanic, with the second hit being stronger and pushing back the enemy.

The story was wonderful!

Some improvement suggestions:

- I'd love to see more variations to the enemies. They all seemed the same, just different color and HP. Some attack variations would've been nice. Maybe projectiles or different movement patterns.

- I wish there was a way to see below by holding the "S" key, as there are some blind jumps in the game. It ended up landing into an enemy in one of those occassions.

- Some attack and hit sound effects would enhance the experience!

- Volume controls would be nice. The music volume felt perfect for me, but apparently I'm in the minority since everyone else commented it was too low.

- The UI doesn't fit correctly in ultrawide monitor. It's okay, 99% of gamejam devs don't check other aspect ratios different than 16:9.

- Kaela's design has changed. She no longer uses the long white suit.

Good game!

OMG DAVID WU HI!

Yeah, there was definitely quite a lot lacking when compared to a properly finished game. I admit I did a lot of shortcuts here and there just to fit my schedule with my 9-5, but ultimately I was quite happy I was able to make a playable game at least for my first game jam.

Variations I admit I only change their stats just to "give" them a bit of a different feel. Future wise I will definitely want to add ranged variations. Control wise I was honestly blank in trying to add many more QoL stuffs like better camera pan movement to see what's further ahead.

As for UI, I admit I put that as the last because that was kinda the easiest for me since but it did bite me back with the limited time I have, so I didn't manage to add some few settings/options like volume control (which I would definitely like to add actually). Same with sfx, I actually legit forgot to add them at the last minute so I just ditched it altogether because it was already like almost 2am and I need to wake up early to work lol. UI I'm still trying to work with it as I never really build a game so that is still in my experimenting list.

And I totally forgot Kaela actually had a sprite/design change so that was definitely my bad on my part, haven't been catching up with Hololive lately.

Anyways sorry for the long text but thank you so much for giving feedback on my first ever game! When I have the motivation to do or improve more, I would definitely like to polish this game better.

The ruined world was so oddly peaceful. The same vibes as a hollow knight kinda experience. The story gave me the feels as well. Final boss got rekt hitless so sora smile again.

Developer

I agree with the ruined world being a bit too peaceful for my liking. Wanted to add more burning in the background, but time is limited so I just make do with simple backgrounds. Thank you for the feedback, and nice one going for that hitless run lol!

Nice game with simple mechanics that work smoothly! Thank you for making this, and I appreciate the wholesome story!

Developer(+1)

Yup, since this was my first game jam, my main focus is to actually make an actually working game even if it's a tad bit simpler. Quite happy with the end product mechanically, however design and QoL aspect I definitely to improve. Thank you for the feedback!

Well done small platformer game. I don't know if combo attack give you anything except range. So it becomes useful only on the boss fight. Music and art are nice.

Developer

Since this was my first Game Jam I only went for a simple approach and made it the combo has range and extra bit of damage. Thank you for the feedback!

Cute pixel art! Love how you did the preboss sequence and ending as well! Really appreciate how each enemy signal themselves before any attacks too.

Would love to see a little bit more enemy AI variety. There are currently different colored ones, but I'm not too sure what makes them different.

Good job on this, thanks for making it!

Developer

Yeah, I too wanted to add more variety to the enemies, but time is limited and I have a 9-5 so I did a bit of cheating with the enemies just giving them different stats. In the future if I do make more, I wanted to add ranged enemies to give more challenges. Anyways, thank you for the feedback, much appreciated!

Well done platformer.  Combat was on the easy side but it worked.  The ending made me feel something, kudos on the dialogue. Great job overall!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! Had to cut a lot of corners making this, I'm just glad to be able to at least make a decent finished game.

Really like the art and the story for this game!

Sounds like some other commenters have already mentioned that the audio was a bit quiet, so aside from that, I noticed that since only the white part of the enemy will flash when they take damage or start attacking, the damage flash will overwrite the attacking flash, and you can't tell when they're going to attack. Small nitpick but otherwise I didn't really encounter too many troubles.

Good work, and congrats on your first "properly built" game!

Developer(+1)

Alright, that's some good notes for me to take of. The flashing yeah I did want to do some few changes, but eh time was ticking so I had no time to change it once I go through the design implementation phase. Thanks for the feedback!

Simple but cute. I think the parallax is a little too strong, especially vertically.

Developer

Fair point. First time I ever made parallax so might have issues with different resolutions or aspect ratio. Thanks for the feedback!

The pixel art is nice. I didn't notice any audio at all at first as it was too soft. If possible, it would be better to make a web build to make the game more accessible.

Developer

Audio wise, that makes sense. It's my fault too on not adding a sound volume button as I only managed to add the audio like 2 days before submission ends. For web build, I will think of it in the future maybe. This is my first time technically releasing a properly built game, so when I have the time to learn it, I will try to learn how to release the game as a web build using Unity.

Anyways, thank you for the feedback!

It would maybe be good to signal that killing all enemies is required

Developer

That is fair. I have all the codes needed to count the enemies put on the map, so adding a UI text would be nice. Thanks for the feedback!

This game is very well made. I really like all the Pixel Art you drew and the Music fits well (especially the clock). The movement feels pretty responsive so i had no problems with traversing the Level.

Developer

The reason I chose pixel art is I suck at drawing decent arts, so pixel arts really helps with hiding all those flaws. And the music choice for the stages was actually a coincidence as I only realized the clock sound when putting it in the game lol. Anyways thank you for the feedback!

The game is now properly up, so come rate it everyone!

Very well done, I love the pixel art.  It's so cute, and the environment art is very atmospheric.  The ending art is so pretty!  The gameplay is also solid, fantastic work getting this made in time.  And the story is sweet.

I'm glad you managed to get it properly uploaded for us!

Developer

Yeaaaaa  that was my bad on the uploading part as it was my first time uploading anything in itch.io lol.

Anyways thank you for the feedback! There are definitely some few QoL stuffs that I would like to add, sadly time doesn't allow me so it is what it is.

Downloads for the game are currently unavailable.

That's my bad as this was my first time uploading in itch.io. I managed to talk with one of the host and they reinstated so you can play it now! Sorry for the wait and thank you!

Submitted(+1)

Awesome I'll take a look!
I also had some issues finding how to upload to itch the first time, glad it worked out!
