Honestly, I’m not really sure how to talk about the latest update. I’m not very good at being straightforward. But maybe being honest isn’t such a bad thing sometimes, because I’m… quite disappointed with Mikko’s latest update. If this is what I get after waiting for a whole year, then it really is a letdown. I only play Mikko’s route, simply because it’s the only one I truly care about. I do understand that sticking to a single route means waiting months, or even a year, for new content (not to mention that I feel like Mikko is the least favored route), and I’m genuinely fine with that. However, this update feels really, really short. I wouldn’t call it bad, but it’s just…short. It only took me about 10–15 minutes to finish both paths. Moreover, since it’s the last day, I expected we would get more time with Mikko, but we didn’t. Most of the new content focused on other things I don’t really care frankly. What frustrated me the most is that our bond with Mikko didn’t really progress at all. Most conversations we had with him felt stiff and forced. This “slow burn” has already gone far enough for me. I used to love it and thought it was necessary for both Arvo and Mikko, but not anymore.

Of course I’m still looking forward to the next update, but I’m just not sure what to expect anymore.

this is only an opening as said in the devlog.:

"There's a new short scene after breakfast for all routes - it's unfortunately shorter than planned, and the rest will have to wait for the next update. I was swamped with work and obligations and wrote as much as I could. "- Devlog

I’ve read it, but that’s not even quite what I was referring to. My whole point is that this build is absolutely not worth a year-long wait, that's it.

I understand the frustration. I wish I could move faster with things, especially with how infrequent the updates are for specific characters. I'm not writing in episodes, but rather building up content over time, which unfortunately means that some updates will be less interesting than others. December, which was when this update was being written, sadly was a busy month, with holidays and preparations taking a huge chunk out of it, and this update has indeed been shorter than our usual ones.

This one has the ending for Day 4 for Mikko, then the beginning of Day 5 and the breakfast. Stiff is intentional and makes sense when you read into what's happening between the two and where has the previous night left them.

The upcoming updates starting with v0.55 will mostly be for all the characters, focusing more on slice of life scenes with the whole case before we conclude the routes, as a final wholesome goodbye. As it's been the case with all previous days, mornings and middays are light in tone, and everything takes on a more sombre and personal note after sundown. I can say that the next update specifically for Mikko will be much more meaty and you can look forward to it, however it will again be a while before it happens. In the meantime, all the characters will get equal spotlight in the few upcoming updates.

Then take your time. I’ve said it before, I don’t mind waiting. But if you’re going to release a new build, it needs to be worth it. I’m not asking you to work faster. I’d rather wait longer if it means the build is worth it, instead of getting something sooner but poorly made. (Btw, I know that the stiffness is intentional, but the execution and writing could be much better. Rather than feeling natural, their conversations and interactions just feel awkward and unpolished for me).

I will take another look at the scenes.

I'm working with a new editor now and these scenes went through him, as a result the style has shifted a bit; but if anything I feel like the scenes benefitted from it a lot.

Youre upset it was short, which makes sense BUT if youre only restricting yourself to one route of course its going to be slow progression. Its a dating sim with NINE characters each with their own subroutes. I dont generally understand critisism twords vn creators when they talk about timing cause duh its free, but if youre only going to read one route how can you complain about pacing? I hope the creators dont take your message to heart because if you really enjoyed the story youd read the rest of routes. They even wrote why in the devlog, I dont know where you find the privilage to say "if you’re going to release a new build, it needs to be worth it"

Before getting into the main points, I want to say that if my earlier comments went a bit too far, I apologize.

Now, let’s get to points.

First, I made this very clear in BOTH of my comments, not just one: I understand, sympathize with, and accept that the game development can be slow. I never asked the developers to rush, and I even said they should feel free to take as much time as they need. What I’m dissatisfied with, as what I already said clearly, is not the waiting itself, but the outcome. This update took a full year, yet the quality doesn’t feel proportional to that amount of time. To be blunt, compared to earlier updates of this same route, this one feels noticeably weaker, despite taking longer to release. In the past, updates for this route usually came out after around six to nine months; this one took an entire year, yet shows a clear step back in terms of content and execution.

Second, I don’t understand the idea that players ARE NOT allowed to complain about the quality of a free product. From the perspective of a player and consumer, I think it’s completely reasonable to point out issues. If something is poorly executed, it’s still poorly executed, regardless of whether it’s free or paid. Of course, I do understand that because this is a free project, the level and tone of criticism should be more restrained. However, it doesn’t justify overly harsh attacks, players are allowed to express dissatisfaction or point out things they find unreasonable or disappointing. And if my earlier comments felt excessive to you, I’m willing to acknowledge that.

Third, everyone experiences stories differently. Liking the story does not automatically mean someone has to read every single route. Two years ago, I did read all of them and realized that some routes simply weren’t for me. So now I choose to focus on just one route. It’s really that simple.

Ugh, dude, just do another route, like Rune's or Lake's, it's better than Mikko honestly.
Writing takes a long time and effort, It's really arrogant to say "this is too little" to someone that gives you this amazing novel for free! It's like receiving a gift and then complaining it's not expensive enough to that person.
Let it take 1 year or 5 years, the important thing is that is advancing, it's not abandoned, it's thriving!

I’ll reply in my mother tongue, cuz I’m honestly bored right now.

Your mother tongue looks really cool actually…

No creo poder siquiera traducir eso lol
