My favorite game in this jam

Developer

You're too kind, thank you!

Didn't seem that impressive at first but then then first tornado showed up. Also got locky with existing billboards getting x5 profitable twice in a row :)

Really enjoyed all these random events, even negative ones. Feels like could have some unique buildings to go with it.

And would be cool itthere was also a slowdown function so I could follow how cards move. with current speed they move too fast for me to figure out how all the cars really act.

Love the principle!

Got an unfortunate bug where I had a tornado shamble everything and put an obstacle in front of a road, at the only place where I could have built a connexion, so I couldn't start the waves anymore :(

But overall I had fun playing it, good ambiance, nice graphics and cool mechanic. Very well done!

EDIT:

Ah, I can erase obstacles with the trash icon. But there is also the eraser option which didn't do anything, a bit confused why we have both 😅

Developer

yeah, i suppose they could be wrapped into one button. they have different costs associated so they’re different modes. i suppose a better UI than a trash can would have worked better lol. thanks for playing

Simple,  but good.

Really clever idea. Well done.

Hey I enjoyed the game!

I've always liked to play SimCity or top down strategy games but I confess I've actually always been terrible at playing them! So never really understood why my cities always fail haha. Including unfortunately my pit stop town was getting heavily into loss'. Perhaps I could have got out a loan? (another game mechanic?)

Lots a cool things - I like the general vibe with the music and the building system. It was well implemented and dynamic.

I felt like I was starting to learn that the best strategy was leading the cars on random routes to maximize their time exposed to billboards and the business' was optimal? Is that the right kind of approach to it?

When I got a casino I was expecting to make a lot of profit however when I didn't and soon was having minus profits for a couple of weeks and then the hurricane hit - that was the end of my play session this time aha.

I think maybe some information about profits per each billboard/business would add an extra layer. And I thought some imagery/artworks during the profit sequence would spice things up.... characters that pass through... maybe like pulling Chance monopoly cards with some cartoons/or 3d characters displayed.

Also with the mitigating circumstances like the extra tax etc... Maybe a symbol on screen which would remind you of that when it was in place...

I also think the bin symbol could maybe be replaced by a bulldozer?

Some other notes;

- There was a typo on advertising frenzy tip
- I repeatedly got the error saying “Attempted to build outside of playable area… use grid mode for assistance”. This happened when I hit done... so it was like the code was not clearing or something before hitting done? Don't know if that makes sense

Just some ideas for you - overall I was getting quite into it and enjoyed!

Cheers,

Tom

Generally, it’s about maximizing the number of businesses you have. more businesses of any kind is more visitors. more visitors is more profit, assuming they’re connected to roads.

strategy aside, yeah this game needs a lot more expanatory UI and flare, i just go so bored of making UI by the end lmao. and it is a good idea to maybe explain the businesses a little better, as duplicate businesses don’t directly create more profit on their own. Thanks for playing :)

I see a lot of great buzz about this game! But needs clearer guidance for new players.

Developer

For sure, I wanted a real guiding tutorial, but those are hard to make! Something I'll leave more time for next jam

Submitted

Relate to that! Tutorials always eat up way more time than expected. Good luck with the jam!

That was awesome! I got a 1M dollars in one year message, so I guess I won or something.

Beautiful town lol, and Gen 4 is my favorite generation!

Thanks for playing :)

this beauty is the work of a cyclone…

Gen 4 is my favorite generation!

Sorry, I didn’t get it, in what context?

Developer

Oh, maybe its entirely coincidence, but Twinleaf is the name of the starting town in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl (fourth gen)

Submitted

Oh, you were referring to that, I actually forgot what I named the town at the start 😅, Twinleaf just came out naturally.

Gen 4 is great, Indeed! I am currently replaying Platinum.

Really loved the game! The idea is fantastic, I am coming back to this after the jam!

Great little town sim game. Awesome to see how far it’s come over one month, from that very first post about simulating road traffic, to a satisfying sim game. Great job!

This game is amazing. Love the tycoon portrait for each character (the moustache).  I feel like the day-night cycle is a bit long, but really cool overall.
