My Game Page Was Removed Without Notice (Ticket #326485)

Hello itch.io team and community,

My name is ShikashiDev, and I’m opening this thread regarding ticket #326485 because my game page was taken down without any warning or notification. I only became aware of the removal when trying to access the page.

I believe this may be connected to a recent change I made: previously, I offered a limited demo on itch.io, and now I decided to make the full version of the old release completely free for everyone. Along with this change, I created a new page for the updated version — not as an attempt to spam or gain visibility, but simply to restructure the distribution model of the project.

To clarify the situation:

The old free demo was replaced with the full version, now available at no cost.
The new updated version of the game is available only through Patreon support.
No sales are made through itch.io, and I have never encouraged players to pay multiple times for the same content.

I completely understand the importance of following platform guidelines, and I want to ensure everything is done correctly. I am also fully open to agreeing that any creation of additional pages for this project in the future may result in stricter actions, if that helps maintain compliance and clarity. My intention is to keep everything consolidated in one single, organized, official page.

Because of this, I kindly request a priority review of my case and guidance on what needs to be corrected so that my page can be restored. I am ready to make any necessary adjustments immediately.

Are you sure your game was removed? If you can make it public again, that sounds like you restricted access to the game yourself.

A game that suddenly was taken down ususally has a message saying that it was suspended, for a while.

Also, the game was published 8 days ago. Please do what you promised 40 days ago and refrain from deleting your page to update it. https://itch.io/post/14557852 . In that thread you also set your game to draft, removing it from public yourself. You write you had some restrictions about Patreon access set up. It sounds you hit the wrong buttons.

It is annyoing if people delete their game and reupload it. It creates a new game id and messes up people's collections. And it can lead to a restriction on your account in regards to publishing. But usually your stuff will be delisted and not removed.

Hi!

Yes, I did create a new page, and it seems the previous one was de-indexed because of that. I understand your point, and I’m not trying to repeat this behavior — I only wanted to bring the project back with the same visibility and indexing it originally had.

I already explained my reasons for creating a new (and final) page, and I’m just trying to keep everything stable from now on. I’m not trying to spam or reset anything — just restore the project properly.

I am writing this reply mostly for people that might land here by search.

If you delete your game, you will lose all visibility the game has gained. Deleting removes all comments. It makes a hole in any collection the game was in and people do not know why, if they even notice. It also removes all ratings.

Using the same url does not change this.

And if you have purchases on the game, it gets a lot worse. Your customers can no longer access the game. That is unprofessional and basically a tos violation. Itch and you would be liable for refunds

The game also loses all trust it has built. It can lead to people reporting the game. It might look like a hacked account, an impostor or like spam. It might also result in quarantine for the suspicous behaviour. It is suspiciuos. There is no good reason to delete a game to update it. But a lot of bad reasons. Like getting the benefits of having a new game. I have seen developers get restricted for this type of gaming the system.

If one makes significant changes, there is devlogs for that. They can even bump a game to most recent again sometimes.

Your topic's title complains about something being done without notice. Everytime you did remake your game page you messed up all the collections of your 4k followers without notice. There is a collection counter on projects.

I understand the impact this caused, and I’m sorry for any inconvenience. I genuinely didn’t intend to create problems for players or the platform. This will be my final and permanent page; I’m committed to keeping everything stable from now on.

Given the situation, could you please tell me what I should do now for my game to be reindexed properly?

And if there’s anything the team can do on their side to help restore the page’s visibility, I would be extremely grateful.

I just want to continue the project the right way from here. Thank you again for your patience and guidance.

Wait. That's basically what you can do. And ignore the quarantine (that means, post updates regularly as you normaly would).

Staff is busy. The page is like 8 days old and people have often waited a lot longer for regular indexing. Since you have 4000 followers, waiting time might be shorter as for projects with only 40 followers.

It might help if you do not connect to your account from different countries. Hacked accounts might look like this. Access from different countries, exchanging projects and so on.

And doublecheck whatever you tried to do for your Patreon access. Itch has some features for that, but I do not understand how they work. I think they are for paid projects though.
