To clear up some rumors, and assure you that I am in fact alive and read comments, here is what is currently going on.

I don't want to speak badly of Itch, as they are graciously hosting and allowing sales of Archipelagates. Archipelagates however is not currently listed on search, or browse. This combined with Steam declining to sell it means sales are more or less dead.

I would very much like to do a final patch to bring the game to 1.0, but due to the fact that I can no longer expect revenue to fund it's development, I have to carefully consider my options.

It is true that I am creating a prototype for another game and have shared details with Patreon subscribers.

I am unfortunately just a guy. I was hoping one option to continue developing games for a living would be to get funding going again with a project that was available for sale, and finish Archipelagates when I was safe from running out of funds.

I hope this clears things up a bit, and I apologize for not being communicative sooner. I didn't, and still don't know exactly what to say. I am in a difficult position.

Thank you for posting this, and thanks for the work you've put in so far. I know game dev is hard work. Have you considered other ways of raising money? Kickstarter perhaps? Archipelagates is too good to let it die.

I second this. I would personally gladly pay more then the retail price for the game again.

So why are Patreon funds not being utilized to finish it?  Isn't that an avenue to do so?

I would totally sub and send money through that if it meant we weren't getting chopped here for another game.

Won't the other game literally have the same issue?

^^This ^^

Exactly...

Or atleast give us what you have done, we deserve that atleast.  I am sure you had alot to show for the few months since the last update we can play with.

Why exactly has Steam denied your game? I've seen 10 times more grotesque content being allowed on Steam, and you already have one game on their platform.

10 times more grotesque, and also, 100 times more low-effort shovelware or asset flips. Had Valve accepted Archipelagates, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

I have no experience with dealing with Valve, but whatever the cause was, there has to be a way, and I'm sure someone could help.

(As for itch, free demos are not unlisted, and the demo can link here.)

If I remember correctly, the reason Steam gave for deniying it was because you can make your character look like a child.

Honestly the response feels like, "since I can't have more money, I will not update the game."  While hearing that you are working on other games instead, that we don't know what will be different to prevent the same issue from recurring.

Has there even been progress since the June update?  It would really be nice to get access to all the hard work you have already accomplished.

And it would be nice to allow people who pay into these games to have access to the same places you announce these types of things.

110% agree. Honestly the whole thing kind of comes off as a slap in the face to those that supported. He's getting funded through Patreon and making a decent amount to continue independent development. If he isn't interested in keeping the game up to date simply out of burnout or disinterest, it would've been better if he had just been honest and said he would continue, but was taking a break to recover from said burnout. This whole 'no money' thing doesn't really have a leg to stand on. This all just doesn't add up, and feels like an excuse if I'm being honest... and I don't throw that word around often.

I hear you, yut you ARE getting paid! There are peeps like me who bought the game here AND then joined your Patreon because we all are aware of how difficult a project like this is. Don't get me wrong,  I'm excited about the idea of a new project but I can't help but  get concerned about you switching all of a sudden as this sort of thing has a pattern of not working out.

Everyone here would love to help you out getting the needed resourses.  There's ways of going about it that should work for you just fine. It's just a matter of getting it done.

Would you like me to start pulling in your fans to get people on the Patreon?  Is there a level of support we could get you to that would mean you'd return to AG?  If at least enough to open it up to mod support and let the fans finish it?

Currently I am still of the opinion that I just want any information.

In that regard, your comment here is enough for me.

I hope I got that right, I often just put together what I learned without checking my english.

Even if developing the game isn't an active source of income, i still feel like the people who paid full price for it or support on patreon still deserve an end product worth the price. And if not, it would be nice to just be told that the project is dead.
