Nice entry!  The movement felt responsive and snappy, felt good moving around.  Avoiding the patrolling guys was some nice little gameplay variety, and finding secret rooms was fun (nice job telegraphing the first one).  I wish there was more content =).

Fun little entry! The movement was solid and I liked the 'puzzly' aspect of having to avoid the mushrooms going in circles to navigate without having to fight everything. I did like that there was secret walls and exploration was rewarded with more items.

This was a really solid entry great job!  I played it through once and my son played it through twice cuz he wanted to kill all the mushroom guys.   Everything in the game world felt really good, movement, placement, aesthetic.  I think the UI needed some work - maybe you weren't using a resolution scaler and visibility toggles - luckily it didn't detract from the overall game much which is a saving grace!  The length of the game was prefect for a jam but it did feel a bit on rails in terms of the level design - basically 1 way to do it - but i think if you could squeeze in a few more player choices into that timeframe it give it enough agency to not feel like its on rails.

Oh I loved puzzles so much. All the ways to move around to get to the goal, all the illusionary walls, nice touch.

UI felt a bit wrong, maybe because of resolution, as it looks all right on your screenshots.

Everything else felt pretty much how it should for such a game.

Here’s my play-through video:

I defeated the evil mushroom overlord, it was fun. I like the music and agree the overall level design and the way the first hidden door is hinted are cool.

It took me a death to mushrooms to figure out that I should not touch them at all, at least not until much later. I enjoyed the game all through to the end. In particular, I liked the way the secret walls were introduced. Very good level design there.

The danger of the mushrooms could perhaps have been done a bit nicer so that the player could recuperate after attacking them too early. Now you sort of had to restart.

Then they added a very good tension in the puzzle-rooms where you had to avoid them. Only thing there was that in the one where you had to get a key too, that they key was a bit too hard to spot.

There were some obvious problems with UI scaling too, which can be seen in the video.

All in all though a very nice game.

Haven't watched the video yet, will do after work but i can see the screwed up ui q.q
Forogt to test in fullscreen for the most part until close to the end, so I knew that it didn't scale well but i didn't know that it would turn out this horrible on larger screens. Made the hp bar using sprite renderer so i couldn't fix it in time :(

But thanks for the feedback, i now know for next time how to do ui better than this :D

Edit: Watched the video now!

Thanks a lot for all the feedback! Movement can't be queued yeah, didn't figure that out in time xD

First section seems to have gotten a lot of people confused, should have done some popups to explain that the mushrooms are supposed to be avoided ^^

But glad that you overall like the design and game :D

it was easy enough to just ignore the UI after a while, so it didn’t bother me too much. But would of course be a good post-jam fix. I think both Unity and Godot at least have simple things you can more or less just check to have UI scale with screen size.

I think the other posters are smarter than me - I'm 4 runs in and I haven't figured out how to get past the green guy with a sword and shield. So I'm posting my progress here and when I figure it out I'll post more. So far a great game, I think the very puzzle like design is perfect for a jam game. Also I'm very engaged with it. Like, I don't want to quit I want to figure it out and that's a really good sign IMO.

Okay I went back immediately - it took something like 6 runs before I found the first health potion. Lol. When I first saw a sword I thought "you're putting it in a cage where I cannot reach it because you're trolling me, curse you!" and then 30 seconds later I had a sword and I was very happy.

Thank you for making the doors permanently destroy themselves and for making turning not cost a turn. Very good design decisions. The smooth turning and movement all felt really good. Also the length was exactly rat for a jam game.

I have now been reunited with my one and only love Miranda and I am really feeling good about this game. Well done!

I got destroyed by the first moving mushroom, but on my second attempt I managed to get to and beat the final boss :D I enjoyed my playthrough! Finding secret rooms for more strength was a fun way to prepare for the big boss. Good job overall!

Thank you :D
Only 2 tries is one of the fastest ones i read of so far :o

Had a few friends play it and they took 4+ each x)

Glad that you enjoyed it :D

Took three tries, but I got to the end and rescued Miranda! This was quite well done, mixing exploration (because you really want to gather all the hp/att upgrades) with some timing puzzles as you navigate the mushroom paths and smart potion usage.

Very well done and a good length for it to be finished in a timely manner!

Thank you :D
Glad that it wasn't too short. I was worried a bit after playing other submissions ^^
