My knowledge of the tarot ended on Persona games, so there was hard for me to find myself here, but i love the tarot concept itself :) Of course what i need to add: art looks great !
Thank you I do intend to make more guided reading in the future to help most people.
The art is sure great! There were too many card for me to do during the jam so I used the Pixel Tarot Deck asset package by chee-seekins : https://chee-seekins.itch.io/tarot
I think most of the other feedback has been covered in comments, but I will say that Tarot of Exquisite Nightmares is an amazing name! After reading the Itch page, I really like the idea of it generating stories as you pick the cards.
I think some simple audio and/or music would be nice to have too.
Thank you! I do hope to find time and motivation to build stories to have guided reading!
Not much in the way of a game here, unfortunately.
Thank You for your comment, we have all our own definition of what a game is, sorry it does not correspond to yours. I guess it’s not a black and white definition! =)
For it to have a purpose, you have to learn tarot or have reference nearby ready, it’s a complex game : The current layout presented is a cross where the bottom card read what leads you to the question. Then the upper card represent the potential outcome or result if you follow the reading. Then the middle cards reads in order the : past, present and the future.
Everybody interpret Tarot readings differently but you can get a basic grasp on tarot with this website :https://www.learntarot.com
I love how you interpretation the theme
Thank you for you comment! Playing around with the flexibility of the theme helps me creatively.
Looks good, some suggestions: the card appearance animation could be optimized, and it would be even better if a general explanation could be automatically given after the divination is completed.
Hello, Thanks for your input!
Yes, the card could be better animated, I still have a lot to learn in gamedev!
As for explaining the divination, it is something that will happen in the future, hopefully. For it to happen, I have to write the 780 different permutations and I would like to do it without AI, so it was unreasonable for me to complete it within the jam timeframe.
Fun idea but i dont know the meanings :( Good luck
Thanks for your comment!
Tarot is mostly an introspective process, it can also help for creativity.

I personally learn Tarot when I was a child but today I use The Linestrider Tarot deck from Siolo Thompson, it’s very beautiful deck and the book that came with it made referencing easy.

The art is really good. Liked that it is just a virtual deck nothing fancy.
Thanks, I used the Pixel Tarot Deck asset package by chee-seekins : https://chee-seekins.itch.io/tarot I guess I wanted to make an uncluttered virtual deck for fans of Tarot.
This is a fun idea, I love the card art, and had some over all fun playing it. I've never totally understood Tarot, so a bit more tutorial/introduction might have helped, but overall great work.
I wanted to to do a fully guided reading, but the numbers of permutation necessary for it to happens could not be done within the gamejam time frame. I’ll definitely try to present better how a tarot reading works, Thanks for your comment!
This is an interesting game. There are a few bugs though like you can spam "Pick a Card" and you will get like 50 cards.
Thanks for your comment! =)
I love that you're using these for your bigger projects! I also loved that you requested feedback. Overall it was a bit confusing from my perspective (I suck at most games). I think some extra in-game guidance would go a long way.
Hello thanks for trying it! One of the first documented Tarot cards originated in the mid-15th century in Italy. The game is about drawing cards which each have meaning if they are upside down or not. Not everyone play Tarot the same. Tarot reading is today a great tool for introspection, You do yourself a reading and see where it resonate with you.
It’s a virtual deck more than a game. :)

I suggest drawing one card at a time, then look the meaning of the specific card according to it position, then go to the next.
Here is a suitable documentation to help : https://www.learntarot.com/cards.htm
I do hope to write in-game guidance to actually finish the project, I have to write the 780 different permutations and that ain’t happening in one swoop.
I really appreciate you took the time to try it! :)
