You've the spark. This needs a lot more work to be fleshed out, but it's original and drives home an important message. One of the best walk simulators I played was Dear Esther. Good luck.

Developer

Thanks for the comment! I realize it needed more polish, but due to lack of time and experience, it wasn't possible. Still, I really liked the idea, and maybe when I have more experience, I'll develop it further. Thank you so much for playing it!

The environment felt a little off and the collision was a little wonky or just straight up non existent at times but I can tell that you were trying to tell a story and you told it well, I would have preferred a little more build up to the problems that this kid faces in his life but still, its a good game for a Jam, good work!

Developer

Thanks for the comment. I have to agree with you about the setting. I know it needs a lot more work, and while making the game I tried to find solutions, but the only one I could find required building the house from scratch. You're not the only one to point out the collisions, so I think I should look into it because I was surprised I left something so important out. I never planned a backstory for the protagonist without falling into the typical clichés of characters behaving badly, so I'll have to think about that if I want to expand the game at some point. Thank you!

This is great, really atmospheric and quite poignant.  Great use of the mannequins - just shows you don't need gore to make a great horror.

Developer

Thank you for your review! I'm glad you enjoyed the experience. Do you have any suggestions? Or perhaps you've found a bug somewhere? I'm trying to get better.

Honestly, no - for a jam game there were no obvious bugs.  My only note would be an improvement of the UI portion, with better font selection and layout, but the rest worked really well - I'm sure with more time this could be tuned to something really good, I think the use of the mannequins was clever.

Developer

I'm aware of this. I'm not entirely convinced by the UI either. In fact, I think it's what took me the longest to perfect, and the result still didn't convince me. But thank you anyways! I´ll take that into account.

Very cool, well done, I can see the time you've put in it! A few small improvements could be to adjust the screenshots in the submission to match the ratio, as they don't quite fit. Otherwise, very well done! :)

Developer

Thanks! Well, you are right. Not sure how people do such great covers. Guess I'll have to find out!

Heavy short experience, definitely liked it! Messages and the bodies got more disturbing and sadder even! Would love to see your full vision once day if you ever get around to doing a post jam game!

Developer

Hello and thank you so much! In fact I thought about making a post jam game with the same concept but that could take me more time since I still need to learn a lot about...well...everything.  with my actual knowledge I doubt I could do something better. But still, thank you!

I think you did a good job. I did notice some weird collision detection (like walking through a drawer or hitting an invisible wall in the bathrooms) and the art style could use some work, but overall this was a decent little horror walking simulator.

Developer

Hello and thank you! Well, I swear I had put enough collisions (Apparently I haven't) so thanks for saying that because I'll be checking what I've missed. And I totally agree with what you say about the art style (In fact you are the second one to notice that and I agree totally). When adding the textures I realized a huge mistake I made when building the house but it was too late to fix that. At least I know what I shouldn't do when building a house in my next game. Thank you!

I enjoyed the way you told the story and the story itself. The art messy, but I had little trouble navigating the levels. Short and sweet walking sim, well done!

Developer(+1)

Hey there! Thank you so much for playing my game and giving me some feedback. I understand what you mean with the art (Honestly I don't like it either but it required building the house from scratch and I did not have time for that) So I kinda tried to mask it with more darkness but guess it didn't work 🤭.

I think you have a good concept in having a looping map and telling the story through text messages. I was going to type some things to improve on, but i checked out the game page and you already seem to know the weak points, overall not a bad experience, so keep at it man!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for playing my game and writing this! I appreciate that. Still, if you want to add something more or perhaps another thing to improve feel free to do it. Once again thank you!

the loop map design is interesting! and the story attracts me,

good game

Developer

Thanks a lot! First of all you are the first person to ever review one of my games which I appreciate. It means a lot since it´s my first game. The loop was...hard to accomplish and the story was intended to be longer and a bit different but I had almost no time and most of it had to be spent fixing bugs or trying to understand some Unity tool. Thank you again!
