I love it.  A hilarious, spoopy little Halloween game.  I kinda wish I could've finished out the skill tree before the end, but that's fine, too.  Better than not having and ending, like many other clicker games, tbh.

The premise is so funny unmasking the monster with a million+ masks.

The controls for pulling the mask is pretty cool, but I had a little trouble at the beginning with how much force to pull the mask off with. It’d probably help to have some visual to show that the hand is pulling on the hood. A simple one would be a line. A more visually appealing one could be a stretchy hand.

Sounds are alright. Could use some variation. Music is good.

I liked the skill tree, but it felt a little too easy to stack multipliers at the beginning. And the tome is crazy early on.

Very cool very fun clicker game.

Such a hilarious idea for an incremental game, and very well-executed! Graphics and sound suited the theme perfectly and never got in the way (I saw someone commented on the audio being annoying, I didn't find that personally), and I was impressed by all the work that went into the tech tree, congrats.

It look me a few tries to pull off the first mask, initially I didn't get how I had to grab then move the mouse up just a bit to get it to slowwly slide off. But once I got that it was pretty much smooth sailing.

I liked that the upgrade window was nicely on the right so I could keep it open most of the time without impeding the gameplay. One thing I didn't really "get" was the buckets, they kept getting knocked off the table and I don't know if they every caught any masks :p.

It definitely had that incremental feel of ramping numbers/insanity, although once I had a couple of the relics and bouncing around and gold + miner mask upgrades it felt like I could just buy everything very quickly. It was satisfying to get to 1M masks and finish the game. Great job!

Loved the humorous take on the theme, it made me smile. The lighting, art, and music gave it such a cool Halloween-y vibe, and overall it was just good fun. I enjoyed playing!

Developer(+1)

Pleased to hear it made you smile :D

i was responsible for the lighting/lightning. its a canvasshader and its opensource. i made it last year and didnt have the chance back then to use it for something other than the example. This year i really wanted to use it and i have do admit i have no clue what i was thinking last year when coding that abomination.

its a convoluted mess and drove me mad cause it was very hard to use and i will rewrite it at one point, but if you are interested this is the shader https://godotshaders.com/shader/dynamic-glow/

This is the room in its full glory btw without the shader applied.

Submitted(+1)

Ahh what the heck you made that shader? I was literally looking at this yesterday wondering how I could use it in future projects, that's so cool! I have never used shaders before and would like to learn how to.

It's so impressive you actually made one (and such a cool looking one too)!! My level of Godot / dev skill is super basic rn so making a shader of my own is just a dream for now - I gotta figure out how to use them and a lot more first.

I love the art of the room without the shader but wow with the shader it completely transforms how the room feels, and takes it from cozy and cute to spooky and mysterious! It's really amazing how lighting can make such a difference and props to you for having so many different skillsets to be able to achieve that!

thanks :D the shader is a modification of https://godotshaders.com/shader/fireball-fire-ball-with-light/ and was mostly a happy accident. and i dont understand its workings fully thats why i had a tough time using it.

Once I got that remove cooldown upgrade it was all over. Love the cute little ghosts. Such a cohesive, well produced experience.

Awesome thats exactly what we were going for, thats one of the gigaupgrades :D

We added a few upgrades that 10x (and even more mult) the progress pretty much for the sake of having a short game for the jam.
Just so people dont have to play through an endless incremental and then lose interest before the fun begins :D
This way the upgrade feels ridicolously overpowered which i think is really cool.
If you imagine the upgradetree as 3 branches the left branch is masks, the right branch is items and the top branch is clicking.
The last leafs of these 3 branches are the overpowered upgrades.

The click CD one was definitely a giga-upgrade! I felt like I was unlocking the turbo clicker on my own mouse. It gave me access to physical hardware which was a huge dopamine spike.

It's real smart to tone down the values and compact the gameplay for a jam, allowing players to get to those really cool upgrades quickly.

I loved this. The visuals are awesome, the concept, the jokes, the music.
Everything really works well. Congrats!

Developer

So happy to hear that :) thats awesome.

Submitted(+2)

That was amazing! The visuals are great and the concept is one of the bests I've seen so far. It's one of those "so good you  wanna see your computer die just to play more" types of games XD

Developer

thanks so much for playing :) we tried our best to make it as chaotic as possible, but still run somehow decent fps wise :D

Wow really great entry! The music was amazing and the concept of Russian doll mask fit the theme of the jam perfectly. The skill tree was also very well balanced. This game worked a lot better then a lot of other cookie clicker games with the strongly implied promise of being able to see who was under in the end. Made me progress my skill tree very far just cause I wanted to see who it was. Wish there was a bit more reward but at 100 million masks defiently was a sweet finale

One big gripe I have though is the audio. Once you progress far enough into the tree. EXPESIALLY with the ghosts it becomes so annoying I had to mute the tab. Its a tuff balance though cause increasing the frequency is how players know there raking in more. I think it should have slowly muted itself as you got more by default. Besides that really fantastic game!

Thank you for the kind words :D

if the ending felt a bit anticlimactic its because we had no time sadly to make a super interesting reveal in the likes of bioshock :D. One idea was to have the players itch avatar as last face, but that was such a huge implementation burden with using itch oauth applications/api, to make requests on the behalf of the user and such and a lot of other hurdles. but i think that could have been a pleasant suprise reveal.

Another idea was to  zoom in into the face and somehow zoom that far in (maybe into the reflection of the eye) that in the end its the same room again and it starts from the beginning with a prestige system like other incrementals have.

But it was simply too complicated to realize with only 24h left.

Maybe one day :D who knows.

Oh yea and i really need to learn how to code a good audiomanager lol :D and learn from some other games that have so much spam happening. sorry about that, i did the same.
