The world building is awesome. Great job! pretty well made
It was a little confusing, that the character did not turn, and then a car hit me :D
The character didnt turn? Is it a bug? You use the mouse to rotate. Also, Im glad someone got hit with the car, that was the most fun I had when play testing.
Not exactly sure what’s going on lol. Feels like I am going around town stealing doormats. Managed to finish the game though:
Some suggestions:
Nice job on your submission.
“Not exactly sure what’s going on lol.” Damn, i keep getting that. I tried to do a minimal ui thing but it really seemed to confuse people. The “doormats” we’re supposed to be indicators on where to stand. I got near the end of the jam and realized “how the hell is anyone supposed to know to stand here?” That was my not so elegant solution. What do you think would have been better?
Playtesters are often right about what’s wrong, but wrong about how to fix it. So take this with a grain of salt.
I think the issue might be that the “doormat” looks a bit too plain. Maybe you could add some subtle dashed lines or a diagonal pattern to make it stand out. When the player steps on one, a small progress bar or circle filling up could help indicate that they are supposed to stay there for a moment.
I was really determined to find that easter egg but I didn't either 😭
Really cool submission though! I don't think I completely understood exactly what to do but it was really fun collecting treats, experiencing your little town and the metal music sequence was a fun surprise
"I don't think I completely understood exactly what to do". What do you mean by this? I tried to do a minimal UI type of thing but maybe I should have just explained it more. What part of it was confusing? The Trick-or-Treating mechanic? Did you get to the end scene?
I wasn't quite sure about I believe the Trick-or-Treat mechanic. When standing in the square outside of a house and the text would appear over head. It's been a long day though, I'm sure that I likely missed something simple here 🤣 This is definitely on my list of games to revisit though!
I never found the easter egg :/
I think there should be another way of dealing with the ghosts, I wish I could do more than just run
Yeah I kind of didn't want the player to be able to actively make the ghosts go away but I really should have added more movement options. Thanks for playing tho.
Never found the easter egg sorry, just lots of treats and some tricks, love how the ghosts are just red eyes until they get close.
Thanks for playing! Hope you enjoyed it.
