i really like the cartoony tv overlay it's super cute and charming, did you draw it yourself? good work on the game overall :)

Developer(+1)

ayy Thanks, and yesss. i was originally just going to use there tv asset somehow but decided i would attempt to draw one first and came out with that after a few sketches

that's awesome!

It looked cool, but upon hitting play it crashed my whole computer! It said fatal error, idk what that is it might just not run on my computer.

Developer

well.. congrats on being my first crash lol could you tell me your system specs ie windows 11/10 etc cpu / gpu and ram size so i can warn people on the store page until i figure it out

Submitted

windows 10, 8 ram, laptop, idk the cpu sorry it is an old computer though, is your game big? The file seemed small so idk

Developer

no its not particularly big. with the engine code for debugging its like 2gb and the shipping build (the game file) is somewhere around 332Mb i assume it could be a windows Bit issue, i havent tested if it works with 32bit windows. or even tested it on windows 10

Developer

also im really sorry about that

Interesting idea implementation! Enjoyed playing.

Developer

Glad you liked it :) thanks for checking it out

This was an interesting concept. A 3rd-person melee style tower defense. Giving candy as the way to defeat skeletons was very creative. You did manage to create a full game which is a great accomplishment! And it looked really good.

So I gathered this was like a tower defense about halfway through. Until then I thought the gate health going down was a good thing. A tutorial would have helped out a lot. Even something in the game description with controls would have been helpful.

This is a solid first jam entry.

Developer(+1)

Yeah. hind sight should've done a hands on tutorial my dumbahh thought the how to play in the menu would be enough even though i watched my buddy ignore it when he play tested it for me to which he practically had the same problems note to future self. almost always do in-game tutorials Thanks for playing and the feedback!!! :)

Yeah I tried to make my tutorial too subtle this jam. Definitely got a lot of feedback on that. Usually I put the controls right on screen. Kenney has some nice cions for keyboard/mouse/gamepad, and I usually just detect what the person is using and display the controls right on screen. Like this:

I liked the idea of the game. There could definitely be some tweaks, like a hands on tutorial and smoother gameplay, but the base game is there. This is a solid jam entry!

I really liked the theme and that art .

Developer

thanks, it was a fun process learning to draw stuff for this jam angles and perspectives are kinda hard lol luckily lot of it was 2d

This is really cool!

Really liked the overall idea behind the game! I enjoy a good wave/base defense style game, and this was hitting just the spot! Only real critique I would have is that it felt like I had to get real close for the "Give Candy" pop up to show up on the enemies for me to damage them, and that usually resulted in me having to hurt myself too. Luckily there was plenty of health pick ups around, but it did feel a little off. But I may have just been missing a key mechanic as well.

Overall though, incredible job! I hope you're proud of what you made!

glad you liked it! W. also yea well originally i wanted it to be an encouragement to not let them spawn much ie keep the coffin spawns down or risk the blue orb pickups BUT way to late into development i figured out that its kinda hard/probably impossible to do with the RNG spawning which is why i upped how often health spawns rn lol im gonna need to rework how that goes down. but im waiting till after the jam to do any reworks. if/when i have time after work ill so some spawn limiting cause i dont want the game crashing on people (i havent noticed this as a problem just a possibility) otherwise trying to keep the original build up in good spirit of the jam

I get what you're putting down here.
There's definitely some tweaks and improvements you could add, but the idea definitely adds a more character-focused style of TD. If you had some towers that more aided, rather than were the focus, it'd be a fun TD game- it kind of reminds me of like "Orcs Must Die".

And congrats on finishing your first game! :D

Ayy i appreciate the feedback and yea i still had a lot i need & wanted to do, but next thing i knew it monday had a crunch  over the weekend to try and get something playable. As the dev. im pretty happy thats its somewhat playable. but as a gamer i know theres a lot i need to do and that side almost caused me to just not submit it,  felt unfinished. With your blessing definitely gonna look into the aid tower idea, as i get it into a more polished state also also just got home from work. Once i get settled gonna check out your work happy early holloween!!
