The visuals and theme for this are really cute! I can definitely see it as a party game if designed for more players ( the world will always need more interns). Was a bit confused at first about the papers but one thing was clear and those and it is that those skeletons really needed their coffee even in hell.
this was fun! i really really liked the style of everything, it was cool!
Really fun idea, felt like Plate Up but in hell. So like real life! Great job!
Great concept and great gameplay. This was great!
Fantastic little game loop. Once you know what you are doing, you immediately feel the need to optimize a loop around the office. Definitely hurt by a lack of direction, though. It took me three or four attempts to understand what I was supposed to be doing and how to properly interact with each of the game elements. If you throw in a solid tutorial, I can see this really coming together. For my part, I came from the submission page where the how-to-play details were not present, so I can definitely understand the lack of direction in my experience. Thank you for sharing your work and vision!
Thanks so much for the thoughtful feedback — we really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience! You’re absolutely right about the lack of direction. It’s something we’ve noticed other players mention as well, especially since the visual feedback for some interactions isn’t as clear as it could be. We’re planning to add a short in-game tutorial or onboarding section to guide players through the basics, so it feels more intuitive even without reading the itch page. If you’d like, feel free to share which parts were the most confusing as a new player — that kind of insight is super valuable for us. Really glad to hear you still enjoyed the core loop despite that!
No problem!
From what I remember, it was not immediately clear how to get coffee. I lost the first run to everyone eventually cycling around to needing coffee and me not knowing how to serve it. A text prompt for "Prep Coffee" or something like that would go a long way.
The presence of "No Spiders Detected" on the bottom of the screen was initially a bit jarring because I did not even know they were a threat. After they appeared, I ran over to one and lost another game while standing next to them and mashing my keyboard trying to find a key that would kill them. Some kind of visual indicator that a jump is needed to kill them or a tutorial would also fix this super easy.
This last one is more of a nitpick than anything, but I was initially confused by the fire holes and how they lit up. After running around for a minute with two stacks of books, I eventually got frustrated and was mashing the interact key only to find out I was burning them one at a time. This could also be due to the fact that my games had very inconsistent audio. Some interactions made sound while others were completely silent. The burning interaction was silent for me, so aside from scrutinizing the handful of pixels for the books I was holding, there was no indicator to me that I was burning books until I had cleared a stack out of my hands. If there is normally audio for this, that would definitely help.
I hope my feedback was helpful. I do not want you to be discouraged by the experience I had as it was all super simple stuff that a day or two of spit-shining would fix.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience! We’ll definitely take your notes into consideration.
Regarding the burning interaction, there should normally be sound effects playing, so it sounds like that might have bugged out during your session—our apologies for the confusion.
PS: We hope your keyboard survived all that mashing caused by our game!
The models for the game are pretty nice, and it was enjoyable. Nice work :)
Thanks! Glad you liked the models — we had a lot of fun bringing them to life!
It's always nice when you're able to enjoy the process of making the game :)
I had a blast playing this. The visuals are polished and the chaotic gameplay loop kept me hooked.
Haha, awesome! We’re glad you had fun with it — we really wanted that chaotic energy to shine through while still giving the player a sense of control so it wouldn’t become overwhelming. Finding that sweet spot was a challenge, so it’s awesome to hear it kept you hooked!
Insanely high quality for a game jam! Solid gameplay loop, really nice visuals and aesthetic! Could definitely see this expanded with more events and hazards showing up whilst having to keep everyone working! Awesome game!
Happy to hear you liked it! The scope creep was real on this one. We were luckilly able to tone it down for the game jam, but indeed, the ideas just kept flowing!
Thank you for playing our game!
Fantastic game! it doesn't even look like a game made in 4 days
Awww, thank you! Really appreciate that. We did our best to polish it as much as we could! Thank you for playing! :)
Very fun and engaging! Trying to figure out a strategy to maximize the work was surprisingly fun XD! Good job!
Thank you so much for playing! Glad you enjoyed it. It was also fun for us to discover how quickly you could create strategies with this relatively simple setup!
Haha this was so fun! I love the character design also! ♥ I was only able to get just over 400 like a noob lmao. Def coming back to this one to try and get the highest score.
400 is not bad at all! My girlfriend’s first run was litterally in the negative. (Don’t tell her I said that). I didn’t even know negative scores were possible before that haha.
Glad to hear you liked it. We would love to see you back! And thank you for playing <3
Wow that's almost impressive honestly hahaha. Good to know! :3
Got to round 6 and 1008 score! It was very fun and the visuals were fantastic! The spiders were a bit hard to jump on. I really enjoyed this game!
1008! That’s impressive! I think that’s the 2nd highest score I’ve heard so far. (Highest was recently posted in the discord with 1171 on round 7)
Super glad you liked it. Thank you for playing!
This was fun! the visuals are awesome, I'm going to have to come back to this one
GG
Would love to see you back! Happy to hear you liked it. :)
This is so so good! Awesome visuals, tight gameplay, and fun sounds. Some hellish musac, if such a thing exists, would be just the ticket for the soundtrack. Also some more sounds to let the player know when the coffee's done, like a classic coffee maker hiss, would be great. And maybe slightly bigger hitboxes for the spiders. But this is such a great little game! Well done!
We’re so happy to hear you liked it! The hiss is a great idea, I will definitally write that down for the QOL update. Thank you for your feedback!
Really polished and I love the art style! Theres a lot of potential here, I could imagine this in the style of Overcooked, possibly multiplayer, with people running around trying to run and manage an office. Could be a fun social / party game.
Like others have said, I was a little confused about the spiders, but that comes down to a lack of tutorial which is understandable. They were a little hard to jump on though.
By the way, your main itch page for the game is gorgeous! Well done!
Thank you so much for the compliments! We gave it our all! Overcooked was indeed an inspiration for the chaos aspect of the game. If the genre “solo party game” existed, we would have definitally given this that tag!
We’ll try to update those nasty bugs (pun intended) after the game jam is over. Feel free to then try it again whenever that happens. :)
A bit worrying when you start a game up and the first thing you see on screen is "NO SPIDERS DETECTED", fun little gameplay loop, managed to get to 500. Visually a little hard to see but I realized I could carry 2 things at once which helped
Hahaha, some slight foreshadowing to prepare your guts! 500 is actually a really nice score. Glad to hear you liked it!
Fun and cute little game! I really liked the graphics. The way to deal with the spiders was a bit confusing I didn’t realize you could jump, lol.
Thank you, we’re supper happy to hear that you enjoyed it! Our mechanic introductions could indeed be improved by quite a lot though.
Got a lil stuck on the spiders, but super polished, Love it :)
Thank you, we all did our best! And yes, they’re unfortunatelly bugged. We will fix them after the jam is over with a QOL patch!
The game looks so polished. Got confused at first.
Thank you! Glad you were able to figure it out though. ;)
I thought the graphics were awesome, but I think the game could've benefited greatly from a tutorial or some better in-game instructions (or maybe I missed it). Smashing the spiders also felt like it had to be very precise compared to the other somewhat mundane tasks.
Thank you so much for your feedback! Very valid comment. We will definitally keep it in mind to have some game instructions in game. The spiders are indeed unfortunatelly bugged, which is why they are so hard to kill. We will try to patch this with a QOL update after the gamejam is over!
