I think most of the work here were put into visuals rather then gameplay, which in my opinion wasen't the best.
I got into the boss fight for example, and had some noticable bugs, like the boss still being hittable after it's death. There is also the aspect of the boss defeated yet he keeps shooting afterwards.
The concept is nice, but I think the main issue is that the game is pretty messy at the moment.
These controls felt really great, and I loved the art style! Great usage of the theme with the die determining which level you play! Best of luck with the rest of the jam!!
ok. I have updated the page and added this in the page to help kind of guide you, but I will also write it here.
A/← (left) D/→(Right) Spacebar (Jump) Left Mouse Button/Left Click (Attack)
The game looks really good, but I got stuck fighting the dice monster and nothing I did seemed to make the battle progress.
You really worked on the graphics. But the game has absolutely no connection to the theme. For some reason, I felt like the character wasn't responding well to the controls. The difficulty is too high. The character's movement is jerky. After death, the controls don't cut off, and you can still collect coins and take damage. I have no idea how to defeat the boss. The disabled cursor in the menu was confusing. There is no leaderboard.
The gameplay was smooth, and the overall game assets were good, but the UI could use some improvement.
Art is beautiful. Platforming works. It's fine. Overall the gameplay wasn't all that engaging or novel, but it wasn't buggy and it worked.
The attempt to connect with the theme is superficial. What you have is a platforming game with six levels and some RNG in front of it to decide what level to play. You could have just made a platforming game with six levels in sequence, and I think that would have been a better design choice.
Although dice are the theme, dice don't really add anything to this gameplay experience. They're just kind of slapped onto the front to say "look we're doing things with the theme." If you keep working on this game, just take the dice out entirely.
This is was interesting to play. I liked the different room options based on the dice roll. Very creative.
I died a bunch and didn't see an end to the gameplay, not sure if I've missed something.
I also found a small bug where I got stuck on the corner of a moving platform.
Did you use the Sonic Rings noise? xD I got a 6 initially (miniboss, which I didn't know how to fight, so it killed me), then a 2 (gem hazards room), then a 3 (moving platforms, which I fell and died on). I didn't see a leaderboard, but I saw the hidden gem you put in the hazards room, very clever design! Overall the game style reminded me of Limbo.
