I liked the run animation it was cute❤
But what was the deal with the red and blue roosters?
I didn’t really get what I was supposed to do?!?
I pressed the E key but it didn’t shoot!
Double jump didn’t work either!
There were also some pickable items on the ground, but I couldn’t pick them up!
Super cool art style and great music! I think all the other comment pretty much covered my main issues with it, but overall you have a solid base to build on if you wanted to use some of the ideas that other people have been suggesting. Great job for your first jam though!
It was fun but im not sure if I was missing something but I couldnt get double jump. I just ept landing on spikes not matter how hard i pressed left or right. Also the camera was pretty zoomed in
this game is fun but still hard i got injured today so have time to play all of the games that you can play in the browser in this jam
After reading the other comments there isn't much more I can say, as they've covered pretty much all my critique. For the rest I'd say it's a nice game, it instantly gave me some metroidvania vibes with areas I wanted to explore once I got my abilities. I just didn't get to explore it yet because of the rough camera/death-reset.
It's a good game and congrats on pushing out your first game jam!
Very cute cat, but the camera is zoomed in too close, so I can’t see what im jumping to, the double jump also makes a sound, but does not jump.
Had fun with the game, great submission to the game jam! I know the crunch of the game to get it out is tough, but you definitely have a good base to a platformer.
I didn't get very far though. I kept dying because of blind jumps and having to start back over and try to beat it while repeatedly having to learn the level layout was a bit rough. Some of the platforming elements need a bit of tweaking as well, hit boxes need to be cleaned up and the lack of movement from your character on moving platforms threw me off.
Love the sounds and sound effects, love the simple art and your character is adorable!
Thank you so much for playing and for the detailed feedback!
This was actually our very first Game Jam, so we didn’t have the time to properly polish the game or even do enough playtesting before the deadline. We completely understand the points you mentioned — blind jumps, hitboxes, and platform mechanics are definitely areas we’d like to refine.
We’re really happy you enjoyed the sounds effects. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll revisit this project, polish it properly, and give it the love it deserves!
Absolutely! Fantastic job on your very Game Jam! It's a fun process going through. You did great and I really enjoyed it, looking forward to seeing you do more in the Game Dev community!
You've got some competent platforming mechanics going here and some decent level design, but I wasn't able to finish it due to a couple issues: the game asks you to do a number of blind jumps, most of which require split-second reaction AND foreknowledge of the layout. This wouldn't be that bad but without checkpoints and having to restart from scratch after every single spike hit, it makes the game kind of rough to run through. I would zoom the camera out, or give the character the ability to look ahead/up/down in a direction they need to jump into tat is currently off screen and is hiding spikes just below. I would also add controls somewhere; not necessarily in the game, even the itch page is fine, but those are good to know. Discounting all that though, solid bases!
Thank you so much for taking the time to play and leave such detailed feedback!
This was our very first Game Jam, so we didn’t have enough time to implement checkpoints, polish the camera, or even properly test the balance of the level design. We totally agree that blind jumps and instant restarts make the experience tougher than it should be, and your suggestions about zooming the camera and adding look-ahead controls are super valuable — definitely things we’d love to explore in the future.
We’re glad to hear you still found a solid base here. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll come back to this project and give it the polish it deserves. Thanks again for the kind words and constructive critique!
Hey, doubly so congrats then for pushing your first jam project out the door, that's a big milestone!
