It's okay, dw XD

Your feedback did make me think: maybe we should have added a difficulty option. Not in a way of easy/hard, but in a way of "I've played puzzle games before or am familiar with gears" and "I haven't". Then we could just skip the extra (redundant) tutorial levels. That way the players who are familiar with puzzles can just get one tutorial(/puzzle) and move on to the complex puzzles with that concept immediately.

Definitely something we should take into account next time (as we still had enough time to add in that feature, if we'd thought of it).

Thanks for playing!

That's a bit unfortunate, as the multiple layers where the last 4 levels, so you were at the end of the game.

As for the puzzles, there really are redundant puzzles. But that's because it was made for a game jam, where we made a puzzle game for (mostly) non-puzzle game players. Because of that we play-tested it a lot on non-puzzle gamers. After timing them on each level, it became clear that explaining a new mechanic once wasn't enough for them. So we had mutiple (redundant) levels to try and help that problem. Though, I'm no expert at it, so there probably could have been things to help the non-puzzle games players in a way that's not redundant to people who've had their fair share of lego gears :P

Thanks for the video anyways, it seems really interesting!

No worries, it was definetly fun to play. And there for sure where some headscratchers on how to solve them, after which executions still was a thing as well. It was fun :)

Glad you enjoyed!

Hey thanks for playing!
I'm glad the skip level button came in helpful :)

We noticed the bug as well, but it was a bit to late to fix it.
But, like you said, it easily reappears, so we didn't worry about it to much.

It was pretty fun to play!

Like Ali said, the scene transitions were really nice and it felt really polished + gave me some PS2 nostalgia ;).
For the game design I'd have some suggestions:

  • The asteroids and planets were randomized, which didn't really make a lot of sense to me. I had one level in particular where I was constantly dodging them to get towards the sun (and failing to do so, which was a good thing as it where just my first few attempts). But then I just got lucky the next time and could shoot from the starting point to the sun in a straight line because no asteroids where in its way.
  • Using the mouse to steer felt overpowered. If I ever had a tricky situation, I'd just shoot myself in the middle of space and go in a straight trajectory towards the sun. You tried to balance it by giving it a limited time, but with no indication of the time left it just felt like the game fucked up or something. I think the game would have been fine without the mouse steering, as you (the level designer) would have more control over how the level would be played
  • The idea of having bad gravity nodes is interesting, but I didn't really come across it when playing the game. When I saw a bad node, I just resorted to going around it with the mouse. Maybe you could have placed them in a more 'blocking the path'-way then a 'bad one on the side'-way.

All that said, it's really just some of my thoughts. I liked this game, it was fun to play and felt finished, not just a prototype. Great job!

Thanks, I'm glad the puzzles have the right complexity!

Thanks for the feedback! It's definitely a reoccurring problem we should take a look at.
Glad you enjoyed the game and the complexity was right!

Glad you enjoyed it! :D

Hmm there was a visual indicator, two actually, but they weren't in the same view as the puzzle. You could match the watch with the speed of the clock in the background and the phone would light up if the puzzle is correct. Which isn't the most clear-cut way of conveying the puzzle is solved. We should take another look at that, thanks for the feedback! :)

After reading the other comments there isn't much more I can say, as they've covered pretty much all my critique. For the rest I'd say it's a nice game, it instantly gave me some metroidvania vibes with areas I wanted to explore once I got my abilities. I just didn't get to explore it yet because of the rough camera/death-reset.

It's a good game and congrats on pushing out your first game jam!

Simple. Fun. Addicting. Great job!

My score: 1326

It was a bit confusing though that sometimes my attacks would one-shot a certain enemy and other times not

It was a fun clicker game! I'd be nice if there was something the player could actively do to influence the ERA points, as there were some times where I was just waiting for the ERA to go up. Maybe a doing a thing where you need to work on the upgrades to actually upgrade them. You'd have to spend money AND your clicks on the upgrade. Meaning the player would have a way to actively influence the ERA points at the cost of even more money. (just an idea really)

The art was really nice, loved the color palette. Good work!

It's a nice gameplay loop. I did struggle with the controls tho, traversing with A/D seemed unintuitive at some times, where left would become right and so on. But flipping the controls would bring its problems. So maybe it could have worked to rotate the camera with the player? Otherwise it was fun to try and puzzle a way around the planets to survive a day, good job!

It was a really fun game. At first it wasn't really clear to me what to do, as the tutorial only indicates a jump but not the sticking mechanic.  But when I got that it was a nice game to play. Clair de Lune really fit the game as well. Nicely done!

Yeah the audio got corrupted while building, but everything was hooked up and synced with it. So normally you could loop around and ghosts would spawn as it should, but now that doesn't happen and you get stuck. Thanks for playing :D

Nice fun game, really like the style of it!

Everything just takes a bit long, maybe a speed up button would be nice.

Really good game, almost can't believe it's made in just 4 days! The polish really well done.

Game is fun, just  a bit frustrating to start over when I die.

Good job!

Really nice idea!

Sometimes the collisions felt a bitt weird (as in the character started jittering in some positions), but it was really fun to give a try!

Goodjob :D

I really liked this game.

It had a fun flow to it, although sometimes I was wondering if it was meant to be more like a puzzle or a speedrunning game.  I feel like if you'd have added a timer with a Personal Best, and perhaps given a score on how well you did, I would feel more compelled to go fast. Perhaps give a score based on how many people you've shot with one bullet, ...

That way I think I'd be able to try and get the faster route, in the smoothest way... Instead of what I did now, walking straight at a body and shooting the closest point at the wall, whilst totally ignoring the fast pace part of the game.

However, I'm no professional and that's just an idea.

The game is really great tho!

I love how polished it feels, especially for in 2 days!

Amazing work! :D

Really love the polished feel and the art!

Nice game :D

The difficulty curve is a bit too steep for me.. But it's a really nice game, gj! :D

It was a really fun game with good music! :D

It's a nice and simple game.. I just keep thinking, maybe it would have been nice to control the ship with my mouse, and accelerate when I press the mouse button. It seems a really nice feature to me.

Good Job! :D

It's a nice idea.. Just some animations and sfx would have been nice, the feedback was a little lacking.

The music is really nice aswell! :D

Also.. maybe a way to make it more puzzle like is to disable recently pressed directions, because all I found myself doing now was the opposite of the AI untill it paused:

:D

Yeah.. We definitely should have play-tested more, after uploaden there are some glearing issues like the table not resetting. Thx tho! :D

Thanks :D

Really nice graphics! :D

But the gameplay was a bit hard..
It was really frustrating to click on the robot while it was moving so fast and by the time I finished someone's order, the next one had already expired. So just make it a bit easier by giving the player more time and make sure that there aren't more orders on the screen then possible.

A beautiful game and nice music!

Just think it was a bit to overpowered to just spam spawn the graves, which made me mostly just spam left-click whilst running in circles.

Really fun game otherwise!

yes

I like the game but it would be nice if you could see something change when you buy an upgrade (like in cookie clicker you see your grandma's)! Keep it up ;D

Really fun game! You should only make it a bit less difficult ;D

I cannot play the game! When I open it it just does nothing

Really nice! I liked the simplicity and the puzzles... It really felt like I was playing with a rubix cube! ;D

Really nice game! I liked the music and the difficulty... Keep it up ;D

I liked the game but it was really hard.. The intro went by way to fast and I couldn't read it in time. Its a nice concept with the feather! Keep it up ;D
