This was so sweet, definitely feels like the most polished project ive reviewed so far! was actually super fun, really felt like FPS risk of rain tbh. really looking forward to more if anything is planned!

I thought it was really fun, I wish I had more choices on how to interact with the enemies, but that's just part of the nature of game jams, if there was a few more ways to attack, an area damage attack, or maybe a way of timing a reload so you can shoot for longer. I think the fact that I wanted more options meant the game was very fun, so good job!

This is fun, love the art, the shading on the weapons really pops, and the enemies are cute in an enemy way. The little pods they come out of is a nice touch too. And the shooting and movement feel good, well done!

Very nice work! Lots of cool different systems which are fun. I kept dying though so will have to try it again at some point.

This was a good time. I liked how there was a real entire arc of gameplay here with the objectives and extraction.  I escaped in 7:21 with a score of 9254.  The world environement size was perfect for this kind of game and I enjoyed how the enemies dropping down kept the pressure on.  The way the music amped up during the intense parts was a nice touch.  The enemies behavior could probably use some tweaking-- they follow the player position and clump up so it was fairly easy to just continuously circle them with the only really push/pull being do you want to take the risk to dash in there and pickup the upgrades.  I'd also add some kind of impact particle effect or other feedback (audio?) for the bullets. The hitbox for the flying guys felt a little off to me.

Overall I enjoyed playing this one a lot, great job!

Yeah, the AI got screwed over a little. We were trying to work with a flying AI system we saw on YouTube, and couldn't get it to work, so we had to quickly make up a navmesh agent to complete on time. Thank you for playing our game, though, and we're glad you liked the rest!

Loved the visuals, especially the weapon art and animation! I think the filter was a good idea to help the player feel inside the mech but maybe it could've been toned down a bit as it got distracting after a while. I liked the design of the enemies riding a monocycle. The laser blaster sound was pretty satisfying too!

Developer

Yeah we wanted to have the CRT effect more noticeable. We did understand that it could be a little distracting so there is an option in the settings to lower the effect.

My bad I missed that. That's funny someone had the exact same complaint about our game so our designer/programmer added a toggle option for it too.

Good work! The graphics are impressive. The gameplay is good, and the controls are comfortable. However, despite the large number of enemies, I felt the gunfights aren't particularly intense. Perhaps because the enemy patterns were so uniform.

Supreme job for a 7 days game! Love the visual and control response of the game, especially when you jump and crouch for the ground pound!
Here are some of my genuine reaction after the few rounds I've played:
The machine gun's projectile could use a little speed up since it was pretty hard to cartch up with a lot of the enemies while dashing and moving around! But the railgun felt very intuitive and good to use with its piercing property.
Movement feels very nice! Reminds me of Halo and Quake movement when I just b-hop everywhere though I did wish I can move faster and with more style!
Itemization is a nice spice up for your primary and secondary attacks, but it felt a little flat and generic especially from the beginning of the game when your bullet took a lot of time to reach the target, the stats felt like it didn't deserve the cool sprite it was given... But then again it was done in a very short amount of time and the feel of the game is definitely there!
I was a little surprised that the enemies actually had collision boxes when I tried to pick up the items, I thought that was pretty neat and added to the experience hehe.
The sound track slaps, and the sound design is top notch, this is overall a very nice game for a game jam!!

Impressive High bit Sprite based Fps !

Shoutout to your artists cause the spritework and the full 3D map are top notch, for some reason this felt to me like some obscure GBA sprite fps that got an HD pc re-relase with mouselook and all XD

The sense of scale of the map is incredible as well :o

Music is pretty neat also, gameplay wise the controls are nice and i liked the fact that you’ve put a tutorial so that you can test everything out before going into the action.

My only gripe is that the feedback in general feels a bit weak, and the pickups were a bit unclear as to each of them do.

Other than that it’s a solid entry, i really like the separate weapons for each arm and the dash system, and i can totally picture a fuller version of this with more weapon sets to equip and more objectives on different maps, and with the space travelling theme you’ve got in the story that leaves you with a lot of possibilities :)

You guys did great !

Really enjoyed this game. The gameplay is solid and the graphics are great.

If I had to give notes I would say... giving the shooting a little more weight using recoil, a knockback effect on the enemies, or some sort of blast effect would make it feel more impactful. I also found it a little difficult to gain life and felt a little underpowered.

That being said, I really enjoyed the game, great work!

yeah, we were missing some assets because they were still being dev'd for the Original date. but we got them in during the 24 hour extension and would love to see what you think now.

So I just replayed it and the new assets really add to the experience. It felt a lot more immersive. Worth the wait for sure! Great job!

very cool game! I managed to get number 3 on the leader board. The design of the enemies are cool but i would wish for more variety. Same thing with the guns the player has. But what is in the game works very well and i kinda love it. If this was expanded more I would have played a ton of it!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! we were originally going to have a weapons list to pick from, but we were short on time and had to axe it for the submission. We added a lot of new visual and audio design within the 24-hour period, and would love to see what you think of the changes that were added. God, this sounds so ai generated XD sorry bout that.

Very nice graphics and sound. Fits the theme quite well. The tutorial was good.
Some points of improvement:

  • at the beginning it was not clear that i needed to go to the beacon, maybe the should flash their light beam or so
  • the player feels underpowered and it takes way to long to kill enemies
    • when the big group spawns at the first beacon it feels like a waiting game because it takes too long to kill the whole group
  • the weapons cooldown just takes out the fun an makes the game even slower

With the improvements and some balancing the fun factor can be drastically increased, because there is a solid and polish base here.
