How does your game fit the theme?
DEAD:LOOP is built entirely around a literal and mechanical interpretation of "Loop." The player is trapped in a time loop: every time they die, the world resets — but with escalating difficulty and new weapon unlocks. Each cycle reinforces the theme, combining gameplay progression with a narrative loop of rebirth and resistance. The name, core mechanic, death animation, and progression system are all centered around looping gameplay, escalating repetition, and survival through iteration.

is this the game from game pass????????

Developer

What do you mean?

Submitted(+1)

Damn, I really enjoyed this... It gives such a Lethal Company or Fallout vibe. The atmosphere is pretty sick as well!! The upgrades really makes you wanna keep going further into the game too! Will be playing more even after the jam ends. Great work man!! :D

Developer

Thanks so much for the kind words! That's really great to hear. :')
I've tinkering away at a few bits since the jam, so when it ends there'll be a few improvements hopefully!

Very cool atmosphere and nice core gameplay loop. Reminds me of the combat section of Dome Keeper, very similar vibe. It would've been nice to have a little more explanation at the start of what to do, especially with the shield. And I agree the VFX can be a little overwhelming at times. Really good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks Bartticus! Done keeper was one of the inspirations, I wanted to build more on the combat side, with the old school DOOM being another major inspiration.

You're right. Post Jam I think I'll add a little main menu, lore dump, and some instructions - and finish the UI... And the shooting mechanics 😂 Lots to expand on.

Submitted(+1)

Probably one of the best looking games in this jam! I am so jealous of the CRT effect! How did you manage to implement it? The gameplay mechanics were a bit confusing

Developer

Thank you so much! I couldn't find the original, but there are a bunch on Godot shaders website, I just tweaked it a bunch after.

Because of the UI, or the weapons? It definitely needs some work on both still!

No se adapta al tamaño de mi pantalla :(

Developer

Sorry! What is your screensize?  I realised too late I didn't scale dynamically for other screen sizes and I didn't get time to re-upload before the deadline

Submitted(+1)

Very cool idea. Having players start out weaponless and dying is a fun and creative way to introduce them to the gameplay loop. I feel like this game could really shine if some more time was put into the visual communication/UX side of things. Overall great job!

Developer(+1)

I was worried players would think the game was bugged by not being able to retaliate right away, but I'm glad to hear the intended loop connected with you! Thank you so much for your kind words. Is there anything in particular you'd add to make the visuals & UX clearer?

Submitted(+1)

My biggest issue with the game was that sometimes I could not see what was going on. That also was not helped by there being multiple UI elements that did not properly tell me what they were for. My suggestion would be:

add icons for health, weapons and the shield, and implement some more visible particles/VFX from the weapons themselves and maybe some blood splatters upon hitting enemies.

Developer(+1)

Makes sense, I had plans for most of those, I just ran out of time in the end.
I think I'll take another pass when the Jam is over and fix all these bits up. Thanks for the feedback. :)

Very nice visual style, Just a bit hard on the eyes :P, could be me in my low brightness evening room with a brighter screen but i had to stop playing after a bit cuz i got a bit of a headache.

Game is fun i like the concept, the way you are dropped in immedeatly is great, i was like what do i do am i doing anything wrong and then the enemies killed me and it showwed the Timeloop initiated text and i understood

very nice work :D

Developer

Did you play on the browser version? Tbh I had a lot of trouble getting it to look okay, the shader wasn't cooperating and I'm not sure why! The downloadable vers looks much better imo
I wanted to add settings so you adjust brightness, volume etc but ran out of time in the end...
I think I took a bit of a gamble leaving the player defenceless for the first loop, but good to hear a few people connected with it :')
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave feedback!

I liked the artwork and the distorted wibbling effect on the visuals. The concept of being able to upgrade each loop was pretty fun. As you pointed out, being able to control the weapons would be a great feature to add so there is a bit more to do between upgrades than only shielding yourself.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm happy to hear you liked the visuals. Agreed, theres a lot of room to improve on still, maybe when the jam is over!

Hee-Ho. Very cool art and music. Nice vibe

Developer

Thanks Hee-Ho! I like your vibe.

Submitted(+1)

Really liked the aesthetics and the music rocks! Well done!

Developer

Thanks a bunch! Glad you enjoyed it.

Submitted(+1)

Absolutely nailed the vibe/atmosphere. Gameplay was pretty cool too. Once I realized that the shield recharged I stopped hoarding it and the game was much more interactive. Watching the enemies get mowed down was blast!

Developer

Thanks so much frogs! I wanted to add extra controls so you could control one of the guns at a time, but ran out of time. Glad you had fun with it anyway! :)

Submitted(+1)

I have no idea how you managed to create so beautiful and atmospheric game. Good job. A little bit faster gameplay and it is masterpeace.

Developer(+1)

Wow, thanks so much! I wanted to add a few extra things, a speed timer being one of them, but ran out of time. Maybe when the jam ends :)

Thank you! I didn't manage to finish everything in time, but at least I can try to make it look nice :)

Submitted(+1)

Looks good, but doesn't run very well on my browser
I didn't find a download for the win version

Developer(+1)

Thanks for letting me know! You should see it now, looks like the upload didn't take the first time.

Please let me know if you have any issues! I'm still working on it today for the last few hours of the game so expect a few changes :)

Submitted(+1)

I will :)

I can't actually operate the weapon, it's fully automatic
All I can do is choose a weapon, but that's not bad (I'm tapping on these dialogues while running the game)
I was almost certain to die in the first few rounds, which made me think about what weapon I should choose next time
But should I hold all the weapons at the same time?
All in all, it's a pretty good game :D

Submitted(+1)

I almost forgot to say that the art is very good :D

Developer

That's right, you collect more weapons as you go, and they're all fully automatic. I've fixed the active shield now that negates damage while up, you might not have had that when you played (use spacebar!)
I really wanted to set up an 'active weapon' that targets where mouse so you can aim manually, and get an attack speed buff. I ran into a bunch of issues with it though, so im not sure if ill get time to finish it off before the deadline...
I think enemy projectiles were broken earlier too, they should actually hurt you now! :D
I'm doing a polish and balance pass now, I'll try and add these two features if i manage to eek out some time.

Developer(+1)

And glad you like the art style!

They are really great :D

Developer

Submitted

well

hope u like it:D

I found a bug where the scene didn't reset when it was probably the fifth round of the loop,

and I saw monsters all over the screen after choosing a weapon and got stuck at the same time

Developer

Im hoping I fixed that bug! I wasn't able to reproduce it D:

Submitted(+1)

That means this is not a common BUG, it doesn't matter XD

Developer

I hope so! :')
