How does your game fit the theme?
Rhythm game where all the bubbles move in a loop. An experience of spinning and bending, as it's all continuous and repeating.

Nice, reminded me of osu!
Thanks for playing! Bingo, I researched OSU and various other games to get the feel down. Hopefully itβs a positive association
really cool approach btw
Thanks for playing and for the compliment!
Real cool rhythm game! Liked how you incorporated the different shapes of the loops. I think this is a cool take on the game. I wish there was a bit more feed back when having a streak of clicking. But it was enjoyable nonetheless. Timing is a bit difficult but, rhythm mapping can be super difficult in this time frame! I think you're game is fun nonetheless! Could definitely evolve into fun loopy rhythm game!
Thank you for playing! I like the idea of keeping a streak. Is there any particular feedback you would've liked to see? As for the map, I'll definitely go back and improve it, as I recorded it in one take. Fun loopy rhythm game is exactly what I'm going for.
Ahh a rhythmic game! Reminded me of the little time I played osu! I enjoy how to shape of the circles serve not only to make it feel more dynamic, but also to guide the player towards where to click next. As I was playing, I got the impression that the colors of the circles would dictate their timing, specially with the two red ones between purples, but then the other times when the reds appear they don't seem to follow the same timing, so I'm not sure if they have a global meaning or not. Anyway, really fun to play, really enjoyed this one!
Thanks for playing! I did some game 'research' and osu was definitely one of them. I'm a big cytus 2 fan so I liked the shapes they made with the bubbles. I'm glad you noticed how the bubbles directed the focus across the screen, that was my big goal. Interestingly, the colors DO dictate timing of a bubble to fully inflate in code, so I'll keep the fact you thought they were different in mind. If you have a chance, pointing out about what time you thought that would be helpful.
So, the rate at which they grow does seem to always be the same, but by timing what I meant was when within the song itself I should tap. The sections with purples and 2 reds shows what I had originally assumed well
π£>wait 1 beat>π£>wait 1 beat>π΄>wait half beat>π΄>wait half beat>π£>wait 1 beat>π£>wait 1 beat
So I assumed that purples told me to wait a full beat, and red told me to wait half a beat. But when the pattern changes to give you all reds, the interval between them is 1 beat again, this is what got me confused.
On the other hand, it is clear that each color does take a fixed time to go from spawning to blinking white, such as the greens being the really quick ones. It's just that I thought the colors were informing me of the timing of the music, and not of the circles themselves.
edit: I did mention Osu, but I'm much more of a pump it up player myself, so I'm less used to the notes telling you anything other than their timing (and which button to press, in pump it up's case)
Really good observation. Design wise, they definitely could be synced up with the timing of the music, that would make sense. I think how they end up now is more a feel of contrast between sounds - a big button for a distinct pitch, volume, or buildup note. I'll look into Pump it Up for reference, thanks.
Very creative, I love the art style and the music, it all fits together so well. Good use of theme also, very well done. I would have enjoyed it more however if there was some sort of player feedback, because I never knew if I hit them at the right time or not, especially being that there was no ending points screen. In any case, great game :)
Thanks for playing! I think more distinct player feedback would help too. Sometimes I play it myself for the vibes, so maybe different modes are in order or perhaps score will be a strict upgrade.
Thanks for playing! Definitely on the list.
The patterns changing were very cool - I did not expect that when I started, and that made it a much more complete game. I wonder how this could play if we weren't playing with a mouse - but maybe a specific keypress for every color. The mouse click would often devolve into how fast we could drag the mouse into the next slot to click for me, rather than focus on just the timing as you would with a key press. But I enjoyed it otherwise for what it is, good stuff!
Thanks for playing! When I first saw it spin in sync I was like 'woah' so I'm glad it translated. I wondered about controller too actually, and I like the idea of syncing it to keypress. Now I'm curious how keypresses for mouse would feel too. Part of the inception of the idea is moving the mouse quickly like osu so that changes the philosophy.
This was fun! I liked the moment when the circles stop being in a loop and you realized that the game was not just going to be about clicking in a circle pattern the whole time. It was super mesmerizing to watch the movement! I do think I had some problems with audio sync, during the kinda bridge section the beats didnt seem to line up with the music.
Thank you for playing! I'm so glad it's as mesmerizing as it was for me when I saw it first come together. I was running out of time and I mapped the song manually, hence the funny syncing issues. I'll have to remap it or find a more consistent way of syncing
A rhythm game that takes place inside of a loop is a very interesting idea! If you continue working on this project, though, I would suggest adding an option to offset the timing, and maybe add some indicators of how accurately the player clicks. I also seem to be able to click circles that aren't the current one, although I'll admit it might only be a problem because I have pretty big skill issue.
Thanks for the feedback!
> add some indicators of how accurately the player clicks.
Will definitely do, I mentioned in another reply that it was a bit jank and I thought it would be frustrating.
> I would suggest adding an option to offset the timing
Would you clarify? I'm currently imagining changing the song time relative to the bubble time, but that would make it (more) out of sync and that's counterintuitive.
> I also seem to be able to click circles that aren't the current one
Same here, would you clarify? When I test it myself, I'm focusing on the next bubble that's going to flash. Another tester clicked the bubbles as soon as they started inflating, is that what you're referring to?
Pretty neat! Have you considered adding a game over? I liked how the bubbles were moving around so maybe a game over could be if mouse goes outside of bubble contour.
Thank you for playing!
> Have you considered adding a game over?
At the end with the infinity loop? I was considering adding the points and a song finished part, that'll probably be when I have more songs (and more time)
The circles moving around was cool to watch. Only criticism is it's possible to click on two circles at the same time accidentally.
I'm glad you liked it! I realized that late and I thought it would be really frustrating to try and get a high score with it, so I kept it out. Now it's just vibes.
(Ah whoops, I noticed multiple bubbles occur at the same time too. I'll remap it! Some safeguard against that in code might be good for my own future reference)
I like me a little rhythm game, so nice job π!
Thank you! I really do too.
