Cool concept and great fit for the jam's theme! I attempted 2 runs, and they both played out the same (day 9). Two points for improvement:
1.  Often I saw loot but it was too far away and just flew by. Would be cool if the arm was longer. This could be too OP, so maybe the arm is initially short, but when you press LMB, it gradually extends. This way you'll have to predict trajectory of materials, and potentially miss. Such mechanic might create some tension for the player, I believe.
2. Tone down the CRT shader - it is good only in moderation. I found it too obnoxious, and it made the text impossible to read (especially the intro text box).
Anyway, hope you find this helpful somewhat. Congrats on making the game though!

Developer

thanks for the feedback, I've said before the crt effect was made last minute so we weren't able to tone it down, and the arm is short on purpose so there's a limitation so you can upgrade it later, but yeah I believe I should've made it longer at the start so it isn't as limited

Lot's of potential for some post jam updates if you wanted! I second most of the feedback you got already. I really loved the idea behind it and could see it blossoming into something incredibly addicting grabbing resources to build up your little bot. I really appreciate all your hard work on the entry!

Interesting idea, and I really like the retro shader! I wasn't able to do much with my first few loops unfortunately. A lot of the items were just out of reach. Maybe being able to extend the arm from the start, without any upgrades, would help?

I really like the artwork and the audio, the retro "radar" screen post-effect is very nice. I was a bit lost about what to do, I don't mind having a slower gameplay, but I really wanted a minimap to understand my orbit. Interesting concept, nicely done.

Developer

there is a minimap its just not very clear, there's a white square thats your player they spin in an oval loop in the middle of the solar syste

The game has a very cool vibe and theme around! However there is very little control so I spent the majority of my time floating doing nothing, it looks great though!

Nice idea! The lack of control is way too underwhelming... Unless that was exactly the feeling you wanted to make :)

On my second run, I survived for 9 days without anything coming close enough to me so that I could grab it :D So I died when the oil ran out without literally any interaction :)

The vibe and especially the shader are quite neat and fit the music well!

Really wish I had more control over the character, because there were a lot of things just out of reach and I basically had nothing to do for the first minute of the game...

This is a sick interpretation of loop! I had a bit of a hard time controlling my character and gathering resources but part of that sense of not having control really pushes the experience I think!

I like the idea of being on orbit of planet. But the game poorly communicates with player. Atleast few more tooltips would be good I guess. Also the game felt very random and I didn’t feel I was losing because of mistakes on my side. CRT effect could be also tweaked for visual clarity.

I liked the music and the concept behind it. I felt like luck was the biggest factor for whether I managed to collect anything or not though. It was a nice idea to have that extra ability to manipulate time to position yourself a bit better, but it often felt like it didn't change much. I also really like the sci-fi 8bit aesthetic, and with some tweaking could be a fun game, good job.

I like the concept of this, a lot. It’s a super cool idea. Like others have said, I feel like I lose a lot of the fun to downtime and lack of interactivity. Maybe some things to help would be a longer initial arm, and “cheating” a little bit by scooching resources towards the player ever so slightly so they’re more likely to run into them. I think this could be a lot of fun - keep at it!

I have some praises and some criticisms:

  • I like the sort of retro sci-fi aesthetic, but I do think the CRT effect could be turned down a little. It made it a bit hard to read the tutorial text and keep track of the map.
  • Sometimes there's a lot of just waiting around for planets to come by (at least in the early stages with no speed upgrades). That being said, I don't know if this was intentional or not, but on 2x speed, it seemed to me that the ship went a bit faster relative to the speed of the planets than on 1x speed - which means there's a very interesting element of skill in getting planets to line up with your ship. If this was unintentional, I seriously encourage you to play around with the concept as a feature if you decide to expand this game post-jam.
  • I think the resource economy is a tiny bit too punishing, but I like the idea of having to decide between stocking up on resources like oil and energy in case you need them and spending them now to gain upgrades.
  • The music is a banger - no comments here.

Overall, I would actually love to see this game further developed in the future. It's got a unique and very promising premise that leaves plenty of room to grow.

Developer

thank you! the crt effect was made pretty late into the jam so i didnt have the time to tweak it very much but yeah its a bit of a problem, and yes the 1x speed making you slower than planets thing is intentional, so its less chance and more skill

The game looks and sounds stellar(pun intended)! I do wish there was a bit more interactivity as there can be a fair bit of down time while you're just idly drifting through space. Also a couple of times I never got within range of more than one item. Maybe shooting your gun could have changed your trajectory a little bit? Still a very fun chill game. Furthest I got was day 11.

Developer

thanks for the feedback!
