I enjoyed that very much. i adore elizabeth, but i do think that she's stoopid.  the main mechanic lends itself to some pretty interesting puzzles. and the sound design is very very nice. and the red herrings are pretty brutal lol.

Developer

She is doing her best :'(

Thank you for the feedback ! Level design could be better I agree.

"Elizabeth is not stupid. She will not fall into holes." I LOVE Elizabeth.

Played thru all 20 levels and had a blast!! And I did NOT cut the music! You made a perfect game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much !! I see a lot of love for Elizabeth in the comments, so happy that everyone likes her.

Congrats on playing through all the levels especially the last one, I tried to make it a real challenge.

This is probably the best game I've played so far, and that includes the game I worked on haha! Tonnes of levels for a jam game, all of the necessary elements were there and functioned without issue. There were some nice QoL touches, like the variable speed buttons and the programming bar re-ordering instructions when dragging-and-dropping into another slot.

I see a lot of people talking about level 17, but I actually found that one fairly easy; I definitely took longer on a previous level (maybe 9, can't remember now) and I stopped playing on 19 (only because I'd seen enough to comment and there's a lot of games to get through!).

Something I think a lot of games miss, particularly game jam games, is levels that introduce new concepts in an easy but interactive way (ours definitely did because the levels were rushed...). I thought you did an excellent job with this and it's subtle and often goes unnoticed, so I'd thought I'd point it out.

If I was to be picky, my only suggestions would be to sort the spelling/grammar (totally appreciate the time constraints and the fact English may not be your native language), add some more tracks and make it possible to click on an instruction to add it to the next available slot in the programming bar. Other than that and some more content, you've pretty much got a production-ready game imo.

Awesome work, and I hope this gets the ratings it deserves!!

Personal preference, I think I'd prefer a cleaner / non-pixelated font for the UI, just to make it easier on the eyes. I think a good choice of font will still work with the pixelated visuals, but it's totally subjective - maybe the option to change the UI font could be a nice feature and could please both crowds perhaps?

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for this detailed feedback.

Level 17 is a good example of how people think differently. Some find it easy, while others find it hard. That's all the difficulty of game design in puzzle games.

I’ll be more careful with my spelling/grammar next time. I just wrote the text as I was thinking and didn’t really review it. Thanks for noticing that.

And about the font, I totally agree with you, I like this font but it's not the best one for reading. I thought about that while making the game and with all the things to do I forgot ahah.

Thanks again for the kind words !

100% agree on the differences in thinking and how puzzles can utilise that. I thought I'd mention it just so it didn't seem like some kind of game-ender, given the numbers of people commenting that they are struggling to figure it out.

Totally cool on the other points, I definitely know what's it like to have a massive to-do list and simply run out of time haha! I tend to write comments in a way that the developer can pick them up post-jam, as I like to pretend that every idea will become a released game eventually.

Awesome work again, and I wish you every success!

Yo this game is awesome! lol I got to level 17 and couldn't figure it out. I'm sure with some more time id get it. I gotta be honest, while I did enjoy the song being played very much, by the time I got to lvl 17, I was over it. lol I'm quite sure that was simply due to not enough time for more songs, which is 100% understandable. Either way, great game! Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much ! I'm actually impressed you didn't cut the music before ahah. I'm very far from being a good at making music so it's time consuming.

I've seen other puzzle games posting hints or even the solution to help people, maybe I should've done that.

Submitted(+1)

I considered turning it off, but once i had it off, it took me out of it, so the music for me was very much a necessary component. lol As for hints, I'm not convinced i would have liked a hint there, but maybe an option just in case someone else feels differently. the hints may just give you the direction in order from left to right, depending on how many hints you have. just a thought!

seems pretty good. The level design us very good, the art work also seems fine. Would've loved to have a much more attractive or engaging ui, the current one actually is good but yeah it could be definitely made more better.

Developer

Thank you for the feeback ! What bother you in the UI, the drag'n'drop or more the design ?

I don’t have anything to complain about, the level design, the cute artstyle (especially the rolling one), the presentation, the clear introductory tutorial, everything is great! This almost feels like a finished game (perhaps you’ll continue working on it a bit more?). Hats off to you!

Developer(+2)

Thank you so much ! I will think about it but the code is a mess and it's a miracle that it's actually working. I will have to rework almost everything if I want to make a better version.

Submitted(+1)

I’m in the same situation with my submission lol. Goodluck with the rest of the jam!

Developer(+1)

Having a clean code in jam is sooo hard ahah. Thanks, you too !

I was having a great time with the game, but didn't think it was anything special.
And then I got to level 17. That got me to stand up and go "THAT WAS GENIUS!" out loud. I think that one level alone bumped the game up by a lot for me, hahaha.

Very very solid game overall! The only thing I really had an issue with was that there's no destruction effect for when you hit stuff with the fireball, but otherwise? it's great!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much ! Level 17 is my favorite too ahah. I wish I had time to think more about the game design and do other levels like this one.

Yes, about the fireball, I was short in time and implemented it in a hurry, so it's missing some feedback. I should have been more careful about the scope of the game and the time limit.

Thanks again for the feedback !

Very cute artsyle and a fun game!

Solid game. Animations and visuals are charming. Gameplay and level design are done very very nicely!

Submitted(+1)

The animation of the little chicken is way to cute, the puzzles were very fun as well! Good job!

Extremely charming game that had me hooked all the way through. Very similar to the one my friend and I had created for the jam, but with key differences.

I loved seeing all the new elements added every few rounds. Level 20 was by far the hardest, and I took probably about 20 minutes alone on that level. I personally liked level 17 the most, as I felt it had the most clever solution.

I loved all the sound effects and the music; it reminded me of the music in Webbed (BTW, I never turned off the music). The little roll animation Elizabeth had was also very amusing.

Excellent job with the game, highly recommended. I’ve sent it to my friend to give it a play, as I think we could learn a lot from your game.

Developer

Thank you very much for the detailed feedback ! I'm impressed you have solved all the levels, especially the last one, I didn't think anyone would have the patience to do it.

Level 17 is my favorite too, I wish I had time to make more levels like this one.

I'm gonna try your game later today.

Submitted(+1)

The puzzle element in the game is excellent. It's fun to try to figure it out.  Music is relaxing and the whole world feels fun and chill. Nice work including the loop theme in the game!

Submitted(+1)

Love it! The rolling animation is so cute lol

Developer(+1)

Ahah thank you I was quite happy with this one

Submitted(+1)

exactly the game idea i had the first hour in the jam before i gave up on it. executed very well!

Developer(+1)

Thank you ! I would love to see your version of this idea

Am I Playing a 2D version of Portal where I'm GLaDOS? Is Elisabeth in danger? Love It, the puzzles are so clever!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much ! I should have added more lore about Elizabeth.

Submitted(+1)

It would be fun, but the lore is great, I love Elizabeth already!
