fun roguelike
Lots of fun. When I first shot an enemy, I laughed at the sound and amount of blood. The juice in this game is very satisfying, and the explosion when the player dies is awesome. I love the guitar tracks and I think they would fit greatly during the gameplay. Would make those 30 seconds feel like the intense spree they are meant to be! Great job!
if I had had more time (and more game dev knowledge) I would have implemeted something that actually indicated a 30 second time limit haha
Cheers for playing mate :)
It was an excellent call to make player death feel so juicy with the way the screen gets cleared, that really ties this game together brilliantly. The pacing never lets up, even beyond death the hedgehog slaying continues, and it feels great to do so! There's some really fun balancing here with the lack of ceiling on stat upgrades, and the fact that the end goal is visible from the every start, it immediately gave me a full sense of the game's scale and what I had to work towards. Had a lot of fun with this one!
I like the fact that I could push my stats to unplayable levels, at some point I was going so fast and I was jumping all over that got pretty hectic, but still quite fun. The "blood explosions" are pretty fun, you should add some "vocals" like on some FPS, like "Overkill!" or something like that. :D
Anyway simple but pretty fun and satisfying.
yeah, I totally forgot to put caps on how you could upgrade yourself haha
Cheers for playing mate :)
I can't believe you didn't use either of the SICK guitar tracks in the main game!
I actually really liked this. Some bugs, kinda weird movement, and the balancing wasn't great but man it was fun. You should you expand on the concept!
I'll be honest, I was coding frantically to get the gameplay done and completely screwed it so that it was really difficult to get a music track when the game was happeneing weirdly enough haha
Can you let me know what you would change balancing wise as I may expand on this game post jam :)
Cheers for playing pal!
Understandable, what's a jam without frantic coding?
I think adding variety in the groundhog types would go far, like changing speed and how they move as you progress. Maybe some of them are slow but have more health, etc. Also fixing the ones that just phase through platforms!
I like the art :>
a cool 2 hours spent on it haha cheers for playing mate! did you beat it??
How.....You SPENT TWO HOURS WHILE I COULD BEARLY FINISH IT IN 2 DAYS!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
nah the art took two hours, the rest of the game took 3 days and my left leg! btw, salary man was awesome!!
Thank you <3
Funny concept for the loop theme!
them pesky groundhogs gotta learn they cant just be looping time without people getting upset haha
cheers for playing mate!
Hey, it's a pretty fun game! (like a bloody groundhog day for the insects..)
The level structure reminds me of 'That Level Again' from long back for some reason, even though it's not that similar (maybe due to the theme?)
Since you seem to be maintaining a buglist so here's one more (sry for increasing it :))
- The menu and endscreen music do not loop (they seem to be loop friendly though)
Thanks for that! I haven't tried "That Level Again", but now i will defiantly be giving it a go to see how i could have made my game better haha
Honestly, I think i may have just left the "loop" button unchecked for all the menu music except for the upgrade menu, but i havent actually had a chance to replay and test since i submitted (been a little busy, but will be playing more games and submitting feedback when i get home from work)!
Thanks for your kind words mate, i appreciate your feedback and letting me know about the bug!
All the best <3
Oops, i meant the upgrade screen, not the endscreen (btw all the best to you too :))
oh haha, that's another one to add to the list then!
Stick it on the bill!!
Honestly, a really fun game. I see that you talked about bugs being an issue, but I didn't notice any luckily. It's sad that there isn't more levels because I finished the game quite quickly and I definitely would've spent time playing them. Whenever you got a kill, it was so satisfying. You felt so powerful when the enemies would spill out blood like a volcanic eruption was happening. I also thought the sound played into this just as well. I like that the concept of the game revolves around dying to upgrade, because it allows the game to be fun for a less skilled player. I loved getting upgrades so much so that I ended up not ending the game when I had the chance, but seeing how far I could go with the upgrades. Let's just say that I wasn't shooting bullets anymore, but laser beams. Anyway, great game and good use of the loop theme. Haven't seen anyone use it like this. Well done! If you get a chance, you can Rate My Game Here.
cheers for the kind words mate! Melting the enemies with a lazer beam or a massive ground pound explosion is super fun :)
if i had had more time to work on it (had to submit the game a day early) i could have done a few more levels where the difficulty gets ramped up.
in my initial idea for the game i thought that i would reset the players score to 0 if they died in a level. had my partner test it and they thought it was too punishing so i toned down the difficulty a little bit.
im glad you enjoyed it mate! once i get off work i will give your game a go!
much love mate <3
Well made game, one guy often gets stuck at the left bottom of the screen. Only thing that I think needs change is when I press ESC it resets the game into mainmenu. Soemtimes I just wanted to change the music, or pause the game for a sec. And poof all my progress disappeared. Love the minimalist style, The shots feel responsive and powerful. Great job
Thanks for playing mate. Did you beat the game?
I didnt notice the guy getting stuck in the bottom left :/ put it on the ever growing list of bugs i guess haha
Yeah, it got to the end of the gamejam time (as i missed a good chunk of the last day) and couldn't implement a pause button or game volume sliders. I hope it didnt diminish your enjoyment of the game too much.
Yeah I did finish it. Good game man.
Great game!
Thanks for playing mate! There's quite a few issues, bugs and things i would want to change if i could, but I missed out on working on the game on sunday as i had work haha
