Really fun to go from "nah, I got this" to "oh shi, i really am an apprentice" cause things got out of hand fast, but seeing all the chaos and learning the unintended consequences was really fun! Sick concept!
Really liked the art, especially the font choice! Super creative idea too, great game 👏
Had a blast! Trying to pick the correct runes to achieve the requested effect was fun, but I ended up most looking forward to what bizarre side effects I'd generate each round (and slowly degenerated from trying to do no harm to becoming a chaos goblin). Did you write a custom effect for every possible combination? That's wild!
Love the artstyle and fun news bits after each day
Here's a video of my playthrough, which contains my feedback. I play your game at 1:05:52
Great Game! I was really confused at first, but I eventually figured out the mechanics. The art is amazing, and so is the music. Very impressive work.
This is a masterful game! I love how you designed the UI and how the list is peeking through the side of the screen and is then dragged into the screen. I love how many combinations there are and how many result texts you thought of, quite impressive. Though I would have liked if the symbols on the wheel were always shown upright to the player and maybe some color distinctions (?), because sometimes I found it hard to get what symbol I'm looking at, getting me to tilt my head in confusion.
Also I think the greyed out symbols should be your base color for the symbols because it is way more readable on the orange-y background of the wheel. Right now the color of the base symbols is too close to the color of the right side of the wheel, for my taste at least. If you changed the color of the base runes to have more contrast on the wheel, then it would be way more readable. Then if a symbol was used you could then have the whole circle where the symbol is in be greyed out. Everything else is perfect! Well done!
Was confused at the beginning and failed quite a number of the tasks, but it's pretty intuitive once you know what you're doing. The loop mechanic was a little annoying when I needed to use the same rune multiple times in a row and had to reset many times. You can tell there's a lot of effort put in simply from the vast number of unique texts with the different combinations. Very enjoyable!
The game is really pretty! It does require quite a lot of back and forth with the rune tab to get where you want, maybe the some symbols could be a bit more explicit. But the spell mechanic is quite enjoyable in general. A lot of content for a jam, good work!
The instructions confused me. It took me a while to figure out that I had to press the space bar to stop the rotation. The 'how to play' said press space to create spell combinations, so I assumed that meant at the end of all 3 runes I would then create a spell combination.
After I did the first spell (the luck one), I didn't realize that it had changed to a new spell request and so I just hit 'finish' and failed it. It then said I had got the luck rune back, but I don't know how I did it, so I couldn't unlock other runes I used for further spells. After a couple minutes, I did figure out how to unlock them. I failed the 2nd and 3rd part of the tutorial, and then it let me pass.
Making a tutorial is hard (my game doesn't even have one), and I think there is definitely room for improvement.
Once I got past the tutorial, a woman had a very sick dog. Health + Animal + Powerful. Pretty easy, I thought. But a bunch of my runes were locked from my fumbling in the tutorial, so I had to unlock the health and animal ones. Since I had to use the death rune to unlock the health one, I then accidentally killed the dog. The customer never came back, as you might expect. 😁 It wasn't clicking for me, so I gave up at that point.
I like how you get a news report about what things happened from your failed spells, that was always funny. The art is good (nice cat), and it seems well-programmed. I think overall it's a cool idea.
Require a bit of symbol re-read, but overall a great game!
Great all around concept and execution! A lot of combinations to work with. I hope smart-animal-corrupt does nothing to the kitty in the back :D
Wow, that was a great concept! I loved the art style and gameplay, and the music matched well! Overall, a fantastic game 😁
cool concept! A lot of reading was required. Maybe highlighting important keywords would reduce the need to re-read instructions.
Really good artwork and cool concept for a game, took a bit for me to get it but didn't read description and realize i can lock spells lol but after i figured that out it was really fun to play.
This is a very unique and neat concept.
I actually opened the game yesterday but I had so little time and this game required so much readin that I put asaide to try it later. It has a harder learning curve and requires a lot of reading but when you finally get the concept it is big brain time! I actually totally got into it so much that I did not realise how much time I spent on it.
Nice job on the game!
Impressive amount of work! I loved it!
I can't imagine how tedious it would have been for you to write and come up with all 900 consequences! Very fun game.
My smooth brain struggled with this but the artstyle and mechanics were great! 10/10
This is great! unique art, fun mechanic, loved reading the effects of spells :D Definitely will come back and try different combinations :)
