You are trapped in a 15 seconds loop, and everything you touch will also be trapped with you, so if you open a gate it'll be open forever

Really enjoyed it. A mini-metroidvania where the player is under intense pressure to find exactly the right pathing. Very hard, I wonder if the default time should have been 20 for a game jam. I would have liked to spend slightly less time re-running the same very easy first 7 seconds only to be punished by missing exactly one jump.  But the controls felt super solid, and I always appreciate when player instructions are designed into a game environment.

Agree with others, I was looking for some polish to push it over the edge (particle effects, more diverse lighting) but that's asking so much in 96 hours and it's only because what's here is so solid. I think it's a great use of the theme, and one of the better implementations of this idea that I'd seen. Nice job.

Developer

Thanks for playing and your comment!
I understand your point on 20 seconds as a default time, but the game is all designed to reach every "checkpoint" in a little less than 15 seconds, if the time was 20 seconds maybe someone who is really good at this kind of games could skip some parts because that little time difference, and that would feel bad for that player, it's hard to set a time that fits every player, I tried setting different times and I think 15 is the best because it feels doable but also hard and demanding.
Thanks for appreciating the tutorials on the game environment, I don't really like to use some kind of UI to explain the controls, I love when other games do the same, it feels so immersive, and as this game's background is practically a solid color is like the perfect scenario to do it.
Yeah, I wanted to add some more visual effects that would make the game look better, but as you said there was only 96 hours and I rathered to spend the time on make the game feel better than look better, would have love to implement some dash or jump effect or particles when walking or sliding on a wall :(.
Thank you again for playing and the feedback!

Very nice, I like how polished and whole the game feels (took me 11m 14s  for the record). You managed to set the perfect atmosphere with the music. I do agree with some of the feedback regarding platforming in general and the brutality of the time constraint.

I also managed to skip the ending trigger when reaching it the first time by jumping and dashing.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I think the music fits very well for what I wanted, could have been better tho.
Oh god, I knew someone would notice at some point. I knew that could happen but I just said "Nah, I dont' think someone will jump and dash at the end, right?" HAHAHA. Honestly, I don't know why I didn't fixed it, I mean, I only had to make the trigger a bit larger, it takes no time to do, so I can't explain myself why I left it in that way knowing that dodging it could happen, maybe I'm just dumb? idk hahaha. I'm sorry for that. Nice time for a first run tho!

I liked how this game encouraged memorization and exploration of the map. Good use of the theme!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I wanted the players to remember some early parts even when they are almost at the end of the game, earning new skills and remembering that wall that you couldn't climb in the past but now you can is so satisfying hahaha

It's not bad of an interpretation of the theme.

As a platformer it feels pretty nice to control. I wish there was more juice to it, like more visual and sound effects on the main character. The level design is pretty good if you can actually finish the game within the given limit (I haven't finished it).

As a game itself, I thought it's too unforgiving. It's a very precise platformer, and I suppose there's a set of players that enjoy them a lot. I mean, I enjoyed playing Celeste too, but this gave me a bad feeling when you miss a jump, and see the timer counting down, you already know you've failed, yet you have to wait a few more seconds before the levels loop back. I discovered that you can press R to reset the game manually, but it's not the same as the game acknowledging your failures and reset for you. Resetting the game feels like admitting defeat, it's not the same as missing a jump and it's a mistake. I also know that you included a time cheat, but I wanted to give feedback on how the game was meant to be played as the name suggested.

First of all, thanks for playing and leaving your opinion!
Yeah, more visual effects like some jump or dash effects, some particles as well and better sound effects would have been nice, but I spent almost all the time with the movement, the level design and the basic sprites, so I couldn't afford to do more juicy things, but yeah, that would definitely make the game better.
And I agree that it's unforgiving, but I made it on purpose, I think that's the fun of the game, having to play almost perfect and trying not to make any mistake, like if you were a speedrunner; that's why I implemented the time cheat as you said, knowing that the game is pretty hard and to give the chance for "non-tryhard" players to complete the game without having to hone their skills.
About the manual reset, as I said, you can't afford to make almost any mistake, so if you know you won't reach your objective you can use it to avoid wasting time, I think having to wait until the automatic reset knowing that you have nothing to do is annoying and frustrating. For me, admitting my defeat just encourages me more and makes me want to get better and do it better the next time, concentrate more (I'm not saying that you're wrong and I'm right, just giving my vision).
Anyway, even if we don't completely agree on our visions thank you so much for the feedback and for giving your opinion and vision, is always nice to know someone else's opinion that doesn't think as you.

Pretty cool! Reminded me of Minit, but as a platformer. Good job! :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I haven't played Minit yet but someone else said this game is like a mix between Minit and other game, so maybe I should play it? Glad you liked it :D

Very cool idea to make players remember the map and be quick and precise with controls. Has the feeling of a puzzle/"rage" game. Great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing and the comment! :D

I feel like there was some outer wilds inspiration and I like that feeling!

Developer(+1)

I don't want to disappoint you and pls don't hate me, but I haven't played Outer Wilds yet :(, some day I'll do for sure. PLZ don't downvote my game now that you know this!
Thanks for playing anyway hahaha!

Very fun game! I love the looping concept as well as the overall vibe. The art is very nice and the player feels very good to control. Checks all the boxes in my book :). Great job!

Developer

Oooh, so it's the best game you've ever played, right? Thank you so much!
Nah jk, thanks for playing and your comment HAHAHA!

the concept is rlly cool! i liked only having 15 seconds to explore then get 'looped' back to the starting point and trying to get farther each time. nice job

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you liked the game! :D

really cool game! i like the idea of the loop unlocking new parts of the puzzle! really crazy to think how much of the level can be reached in 15sec

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! "If you use your time correctly you can go anywhere" *motivational phrase* HAHAHA!

I like your level design, it so amazing!
If possible, can you please vote my game and leave a comment too?

Developer

Thanks for playing!
If I'm able I'll try to take a look later! :)

Yoooo this slaps! Fun to see a microvania in here, and the time loop mechanic has *just* the right amount of leeway for each of the paths! Everything's super tight here, and I finished my run in just barely under 9 minutes (like 8:54). Awesome stuff! :D

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm currently playing Hollow Knight and wanted to try to make some little metroidvania.
I've had to rebuild several times some paths to make them so tight hahaha!
Happy you enjoyed the game! And really nice time for a first run!! :D

Very smart level design. I loved when I unlocked the zap. Ending where he crumbled on itself was supreme. Not too original but very very well executed, nice!

Developer

Thanks for playing! It's my first platformer game and I'm very proud of the level design tbh, obviously it's not perfect but I think it feels well to play on.
The end was immovable since the moment I had the idea of the game and the little story it has hahaha!

Very fun game! Like a mix between Minit and Leap Year. 15 seconds is a very tight challenge but everything felt doable (just). One criticism was having the new mechanisms on the wall behind meant I missed reading the first one because I reset right after.

Great work! My time was 11:58!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Yeah, it's challenging but reaching a "checkpoint" when only reamains 1 second feels so good hahaha!
Thanks for the feedback! Maybe I should have put the text on a more visible zone but I liked the way it looked.
Nice time for a first run! :D

Really fun idea, very tight timeloop though, really makes it tricky to make progress

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yeah, everything is very well measured to reach every "checkpoint" in a little less than 15 seconds, so if you fail on some jump or something you won't reach it. The game forces you to become a speedrunner hahaha!

A roguelite metroidvania parcour game? In this economy??? Honestly, this is the first game inside my rating list and it’s absolutely amazing, I played through the whole thing by pure enjoyment. That’s how good this is.

Very nice work !image.png

Aww, thank you so much for playing and your kind words :), means a lot to me! I'm glad you enjoyed the game that much so you completed the game!
Good job and thank you again!! :D
