i clicked this solely bc of the art, and wasnt disappointed. the graphics are really cute. i especially love the big snail and its lil mouth. i liked the lil minigames at the end too (although the chess one, as a pretty skilled chess player, confused me lol)

i must live my life by the snail rules........ and join the feast........

This was a very nice game loved how there was a horror section, loved the final challenge, and loved the snails!

Wow you made a hole game in 9 days! and you want to tell me this is your first game, shut up!

I love the gameboy look and the theme. The game constantly gives you new things in such a short playtime.
The thinks I like the most are the big snail that only appears for a short time on the side of the screen and the level mechanic. I think this mechanic can carry a complete puzzle game!

Good job!:)

Really liked the art and palette used, and you actually did a game where you need to defeat lower level things to then be able to get the higher level ones, unlike some pesky ads there are everywhere.... Very good game and congrats on completing your first jam! Keep it up!

a really fun little game. The game play is fun and the puzzle at the end is also really fun. A really good first game (:

Very nice. I'm a sucker for gameboy green palettes, and the spritework is really adorable! I appreciate that you kept the scope manageable. It's a short experience, but solid and enjoyable all the way through. My only gripe is that it's difficult to know what the game wants from you sometimes, particularly during the cup and chess sections. That said, this would be exceptional work for an experienced jammer, much less a first-timer. My hat's off to you, fellow newbie.

Great and fun experience. The idea is GREAT! The implementation is also good, it was kinda sad, that there wasnt really any horror, but it did make me feel nervous. Love the game, certainly the best game I have played so far!

Fun little cute game! Glad I came back to it…

I tried this game a few times before, I think it might’ve been bugged? I was eating the first radish(?) and I wasn’t picking it up, and even though I was already Lv.50+ I could not get past the first thorns.

This is a good 1st game!

I had fun playing through the game, it starts simple and knows when to change to another mechanic, from just eating to minigames, I think that’s good or not just base the whole game on eating haha. Also slowly building the little story of the game is nice, learning about the rules and then in the last part applying those is good because it gives more meaning to them.

I think the only thing could be better is, the music starts quiet and 2 levels later, it sounds more high, so trying to level the volume to be the same in the game would be a nice touch. Outside that, I can’t think of something to give feedback, or maybe have a secret path just for the sake of it and give the player something special. Some areas felt like they were hiding something for how big they were. :)

Also I like the last part because it gives you snail facts and if you lose, you can try again which is good, and the tension can feel a little bit for how it was slowly built from the start, like finally seeing the big snail in front of you challenging you was fun.

The sprites are good and the songs were a nice pick, it really fit the mood, the last part it feels a bit like Ace Attorney or it gives me a similar feeling hahaha. Everything feels nice together and makes the game nice to play. And the chess part was good, I like that, great that the hint was there haha.

Keep doing games, you did a great 1st game ^_^

Nice little gameboy game. The teasing the big snail was good. The instant restart of the cup game instead of losing a life and trying again was a little harsh. Also the interface bugged a bit.

Thank you so much! And thank you for the specific feedback, I put it on my list to fix (after the rating period) the interface bug and make the cup and chess puzzle slightly less hard by indeed losing a life instead of immediate game over :) And again I enjoyed your game too!

A very solid game! I loved the Game Boy vibe — the music is adorable and so is the pixel art. I spent like 10 minutes trying to figure out the cup puzzle, but I was a bit sleepy and they just wouldn’t cooperate. Excellent work!

I only made it to level 10 not sure if there's more after that. THe grapphics are so good and the sound effects worky really well. I really liked how simple but nice it felt to play, I enjoyed it a lot, simple but fun and really insane for a first game.

This was such a good game, and your first? That's just insane. Loved every single bit about it except for the fact that I'll never know what was behind the vines that need you to be level 99. :<

Great job at making the game! Enjoyed the music selection and simple level up mechanics. I gave up at the chess part because I couldn't figure it out. Where did you get the asset for the snail? Its cute! I didn't always like getting game over from the pop quizzes though, felt like it wasn't entirely earned. But I do like being able to restart right from the room and can try again and learning about snail rules!

Thank you so very much for your comment! And that is fair, it's quite a hard part, but after that is basically the end screen so you haven't missed much! Also, all the art next to only the chess pieces I made myself, the snail is modeled after my own pet snail! :) I will definitely take your feedback into account about the quiz and chess puzzle, I am planning to make it so that you simply lose a life instead. I have added your game to the list of games I should play too, so I will do so later!

This game subverted my expectations so many times! At first I thought, oh, the bigger eat the small (agar.io style) then I found the snail rules!! I genuinely thought the game was gonna go a completely different route after the big guy showed up then Snail Rule #1 made me smile :))) really great first jam entry!!

oooh super interesting story and gameplay. Apparently I really like snails because I got the questions right lol. Is the chess segment inspired from 'King of the Bridge'? Art, music and sfx all work really well together,  great job!

This was a great time! The cup game and the quiz both took me a few tries, but it wasn't an unwelcomed challenge. I really enjoyed the snail rules and the respect to your audience shown in the "do you like scary games" part.

Fantastic job!

I have newfound respect for snails. Well done on a great first entry!

this game took a turn.... multiple times.... it is very creative... each section on their own might be simple, but together.... oof.... what a game

Love the duration of the game-session. Really like the retro gb-art style and learnd some rules about snails.

Can't wait to play Snail Quest 2 - Revenge of the cup wizard
