Music was so nice and goofy, and graphics were spot on. Didn't quite get to grips with the controls but still had lots of fun chowing fish.

Best music in the jam for sure. Love the concept and execution of the idea. Very simple yet very addictive and fun.

Immediately in love with the presentation

- Favorite song in the jam
- Favorite character design in the jam
- Love the intro screen and found it a clever way to set the picture without needing an entire dialog system
- Reminded me of old flash games I used to play in a good way (Dolphin Olympics 2 specifically)

Wishlist/Random improvement ideas as tribute:

- Took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure out I needed to HOLD space not tap it in bursts to gain speed. Wish it was under Controls instead of Tips section of the page, I thought Tips was spoilery but it was essential knowledge.
- Wish going to 0 calorie didn't double whammy you so hard. Not being able to boost anymore is already punishment enough in my opinion or at least it shouldn't break your speed as fast and completely as it does. It might make more sense if the idle animation played a tail wag that got slowed when you hit 0, but losing momentum speed from fatigue feels confusing and frustrating.
- Noticed hitting space right as I reach waves while going up would make me jump while at low speed. Tried holding space as soon as possible on reentry or going out at high speed but often just lost all speed instead of getting a boost. Didn't understand/notice if it was because I was at 0 calories each time or something else.

All very good feedback, glad you enjoyed many different parts of the game! The jump was just intended for when you have low calories to get a little oomph going down without having to spend calories, not as an extra boost on exit. We hadn't encountered anyone who had done that but we can see how you came to the conclusion. I'll also have to check out Dolphin Olympics 2, never heard of it but does remind me of the game we made lol

Great graphics and music! Agree with the other comments about difficulty keeping momentum but love the concept of movement being limited by calories

Such a fun game! Once I understood the controls better, I was having a lot of fun trying to get higher and higher. The graphics and music are both really great and give this game so much charm!

Very nice work!

Great art and music. The controls are quite hard to use. Couldnt get most things done besides eating some fish and going a little bit up from the water. Love the atmospgere though. Good job!

Couldn't get Quinoa home :( The art is amazing and the music is quite catchy. Unfortunately didn't have the skill to get the guy home.

This has been a common issue. I'll try updating the game description's "Tips" section to hopefully offer a better explanation for how boosting should be used to win. I think a proper tutorial is sorely needed. Also I think the amount of food to collect ended up being a little too sparse.

It's ok, we called him a taxi and had them stop for some McNuggets on the way home 🚕 He said thanks for playing

I had a few good jumps but just couldn't get the timing right to really be successful. I think the overall vibes were great and the art was fantastic.

The visuals are so nice, love also the design of the alien dog. Wish the controls were a little more intuitive because I couldn't figure out how to get momentum. Good job on the entry

Some addictive game play. A lot of fun trying to build up momentum while maxing out your calorie intake and not blow it all just to reset yourself back to baby leaps.

Took some getting used to but made getting the end more satisfying, great little game you made here.

Also standout artwork and music design.

Developer

Glad you stuck with it! And thanks for playing!

I really like the alien dog's design, I'm not sure what the name for the genre is but I love the music like Pizza Tower that throws in random audio samples. It's a little hard to maintain momentum, maybe the dog could keep more even without using calories? Cute game!

Games got me Caloriemaxxing.

I'm ascending, literally.

This is my favorite VCCCFMJ game to date (Verdant Cosmic Canine Consumes For Moonward Journey)

Keep it up fellas!

Developer

Thanks! Glad we could at least make it in the Top 5 VCCCFMJ (Verdant Cosmic Canine Consumes For Moonward Journey) game for someone!

I love the visual style and music.  The concept felt perfect and I was vibing eating fish for a while.
I wish you didn't burn calories as fast, mainly due to lack of fish but overall VERY fun

Everyone in life has a different metabolism rate, sometimes its a blessing and sometimes it a curse. We will see what we can do to our little specimen to fine-tune the fishy eating experience 🐟

Super stylish - love the visuals and the music! The controls are pretty fiddly though and it was tricky for me to get or keep the sense of momentum (my skill issue, maybe?). I think a good next update would be to remove the invisible walls and really let the intergalactic dog-thing fly. Really cool game!
