I like the line art style of this game. The mechanics are well thought out and executed well. It was really refreshing to have a retro-esque platformer without spike spam all the time. I actualIy really liked that you can't die. I think you could take this game further, maybe add a checkpoint system and make some longer levels.
nice game, the characters feels a bit fast for the level design and the size of the window. the music works well, there were some points where sound effects would have been nice but not a big issue by any means
Nice first iteration. The dash being f made it very difficult to move from D to F without stalling midair. A different control scheme may help. The level design was pretty good.
Thanks for letting me know, I have had 3 people say now that they didn't like F to dash, even though you can use shift to dash. Is shift just not working or did the game not tell you that dash could also be used with shift?
But I'm glad you liked the game either way.
Maybe you could map one of the mouse buttons to dash as well?
This was awesome the first iritation of just pressing start and then the cursor becoming the player was very well done also the levels really ramped up from start to finish also the use of abilitys were very intuitive only the wall jump was somewhat hard to handle as turning the movment around the same moment felt a bit off as it didnt react to my inputs fast enought yet very fun and nice put together game!
Thanks for the feedback and I'm happy you liked it! Also good to hear that you liked the start where you had to press the startbutton 3 times, I wasn't sure if that was anoying or confusing to people so thanks for clearing that up.
I have heard a different complaint about the wall jump, but what is it exactly that you don't like? Does it have to do something with the dash afterwards or just the whole 'turn around when you walljump' thing?
I absolutely loved this gem here, brilliant way to play to the theme as well as just being a good experience that eases you in just right by introducing mechanics and then giving you opportunities to immediately put what you learn to practice. And the animations just felt incredible, well done!
Thank you so much, I'm glad that you liked it!
Fits the theme very well, very creative
Thank you!
Super fluid gameplay and animation for the cursor and all the mechanics were really fleshed out! Good stuff man
Thank you!
Super smooth gameplay and animations. Like others said, music is a bit repetitive, but I tried to make up for it by freestyling the entirety of the game to add variation 😭. Amazing job though for your first game jam, Keep it up!
Thanks for the nice words, I laughed a bit while reading your comment XD
Great game, but the dash is a bit too long which makes it hard for me reach other platforms using it, but i guess that's just my skill issue, Great game!
Glad you liked it!
The movement was pretty smooth. Liked your art style. Great game!
Glad that you liked it!
This was a fun little platformer with simple, yet neat mechanics. I really love the animations, especially when entering or finishing a level. The music got repetitive fast and didn’t loop that smoothly and having some other sound effects as feedback for actions would have made it a little more enjoyable, but it also doesn’t take from the experience either and the quick, responsive controls make up for it.
One thing I would suggest is to not make the camera follow behind the player, but instead to try and make it move ahead of it, something like how it’s done in super mario world or other platformers. Since this is a platformer game with some pretty fast movement and a small screen size, it would be nice to see more of what is ahead of you. It was very easy to get lost since you couldn’t really see where you were going and coming to a complete halt and holding s to look down just didn’t feel so great.
That aside, this is a fun game!
Thanks for the feedback! Glad that you liked the game and animations.
This was my first time making music and I also found it repetitive so I will work on that!
Your suggestion to make the camera be ahead of the player is a really good idea, that didn't even cross my mind. Thank you for that! And the S to look down was also not the greatest idea, I totally agree with that, I should've at least placed the camera a bit more downwards.
fluid jumping animation got me, art style and character movement is really good. this fast paced levels and short tutorials is really good. fun game and level design
Thank you so much! Art and animations aren't really my thing so I'm glad that you like it
Especially jump animation is really good in way of stretching
The movement felt pretty nice, until the dashing. I would allow shift to be used for dashing. And i would remix the music a bit, and maybe zoom in from a full map view so the player knows where to go, though might need bigger map that way.
Thanks for the feedback. I agree that the music wasn't the best, it was my first time making music on my computer but I will work on that.
The zoom to see the whole map is a cool idea, I really like it and I might implement it!
And for the dashing, you actually can use shift for dashing. Maybe you misread the text in the third level but that doesn't matter.
Movement is very fluid! I struggled a bit at first to get used to the movement. I’m not sure if it was intentionally designed to be challenging or not; however, it became fun once I got used to it.
The art was perfect and smart! It’s simple and really helped making the game feel polished and cohesive.
I am unable to use my speakers, so I can’t comment on sounds.
I am impressed that you were able to complete 10 levels in such a short time, especially since you did this solo.
Keep it up!
I am happy you liked it! I wanted the character to be fast but still responsive so that is probably why you struggled a bit in the beginning.
Art isn't really my thing so I'm glad you liked it.
For the music, it might have been good that you couldn't hear it. It was okay but became repetative quite fast XD
real solid lil game. the simplistic artstyle worked well imo. i liked the mechanics you added throughout, just the walljumping was a lil annoying lol
Glad that you liked it! But could you tell me what was wrong with the walljump, I might be able to adjust some code to make it better.
it might just be a skill issue! but i felt some of the times i missed the walljump i shouldve been able to hit it bc i thought i was close enough. especially since the animations of the area are so wide
Dude... fun, love the art and the animation, the music could be a bit repetitive, and there's a small gap when the loop restarts. The real challenge is to press the dash button while jumping left lol
I really like this one!! Great job!
Thank you! This was the first time I made music on my computer and I also found it a bit repetative, will change that if I continue with this game. But why did you find it hard to dash while going left? I might be able to fix it later.
I guess it was the keys I played with the wasd position and then had to use my right hand to just press the F. Probably is just me, but it would be easier to have the dash key to be something like left shift or left ctrl. Is not that it brake the experience, It only took me a while to adjust to the hands position.
You actually can use shift to dash. I have heard someone else say that they would like to be able to dash with shift which is strange because I believe it does say that you can do that in-game. But thanks for pointing out the issue you had!
oh, Then I probably missed the instruction... my bad.
I loved the game, so no biggie
like the art style
Thank you! Art isn't really my thing so I am glad you like it.
Solid platformer, however would like to have a better view on where I'm jumping, and it was a bit punishing. The lack of sounds and the repetitive music was a bit tiring too.
Thanks for the feedback, it was my first time making game music so I expected it being a bit repetitive. And I also understand the view problem, you can try holding S or down arrow to look down but I agree that the camera should be a bit lower.
Super nice! The art is good, but I'd like to see some more detail on the tiles.
Glad that you like it and thanks for the feedback! Art isn't really my thing and I kinda just rushed the tiles, but if I continue this game, I'm planning on adding some more detail.
