Great concept! The sound effects were a bit confusing at times, but overall it was really enjoyable. A short tutorial would’ve definitely helped me get into the game’s mechanics!

Pretty cool! It was confusing at first, but after I got it it was pretty fun! It could use better art and some visual/audio feedback (like animations, sound effects and particles). I managed to beat the game. Good work!!

Developer

glad you enjoyed the puzzle!

The concept is cool, but I had a hard time understanding the controls, and what I was supposed to do. I didn't manage to go very far, maybe because of bugs, or just because I'm bad, I'm not sure. But I think it has potential, and with a little bit of polishing, this could turn really great!

Bonus point for using Bevy, it's a really cool engine. Still a bit rough around the edges, sometimes, but still really cool.

This seems to be a reoccurring issue with everything i develop that, since i’m the one that created everything, i believe it’s self explanatory 😂 I most definitely need to stop skipping the tutorials for my projects

Bevy was great, i really liked its ECS, rust has always had a place in my heart (although not my most proficient language) It was really annoying however how many breaking changes they make. I’d be looking at recourses online and nothing works because they decided instead of component.function it’s now function(component) for example 🤦‍♂️

Thanks for the feedback!

I wish there was a tutorial. great game nevertheless

Fun game! A ton of bugs, and some more instructions would have been nice. With some more time this game could have been a lot better!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! can you specify what bugs you found?

Submitted

I like the concept, but the execution could be improved on. I could not for the life of me beat the first level

Developer

😂 yeah everyone seemed to struggle a bit, i even added a hint in game and another hint in the description of the game

Thanks for playing!

I could see this game as being a little more complete, but I was also a little confused about what exactly was going on. I was able to double jump at some points, and the character would often glitch through the floor and walls. I think there should be more levels and some more debugging and the game would feel better.

Developer

I suspect these bugs are web-build related since i never ran into them during development,  double jumping was intended but it doesn't seem so since i never really had any sort of mini tutorial or guide at any point in the game so it does appear like a weird mechanic definitely

Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah no problem, thanks for submitting the game I enjoyed trying it!

Developer

your game was by far the best use of limitation i've seen ;) you took it literally but in a way that didn't feel forced, I like it

I think I don't understand the concept. I get the puzzle-ish platformer using the orb, but don't really understand the usefulness of both states. I believe the blue one slides a little bit, and the red one seems to jump higher, but sometimes it barely jumped, and the blue one jumped higher.  Still a nice concept and it was fun to play it!

Developer

absolutely, i only had 2 days to both learn my engine and physics engine separately (whilst making a complete-ish game). I had to choose between super refined physics and states but no proper level, or 2 somewhat decent levels and at the very least (somewhat) satisfying gameplay.

Thank you for the feedback, for the next game jam i’ll scope down and use this as a learning opportunity; If you have any advice for how i could have made the states more useful i’m happy to hear it!

Submitted

I figured, that makes sense. The jams are a great place to learn, so I'm happy to hear it was useful for you! For the states, the gimick of each one could be more impactfull and have "puzzles" that require them or preven them for crossing, forcing you to switch. Something like you already have, but on a bigger scale and more tied to what those states represent, cold and hot, and maybe having only 1 good level with 1 clever way of using the mechanics rather than 3 rushed ones.

Developer

yeah, finding a balance in between would of been nicer. I guess i tried in level 2 with the tiles that burn if you go into fire mode but it wasn't impactful in the least i suspect you could pass that entire level in fire mode

Submitted

Not sure if I played it the right way, but I got to the goal by going through the walls without needing to switch states.

Developer

can you give me some more info? it automatically switches states after a short period of time not sure how u managed that 😂 unless my web build is broken

ah that’s definitely not meant to happen… until i fix it, can you do me a favour and delete the comment with the screenshot? I don’t want people cheating their way out of levels 😉
