Welcome to the Maple Jam! I'm very excited to see folks showing interest so early!

Feel free to introduce yourself here; I'll start first!
My name is Mint, and I'm a game designer and curator living in St. John's, Newfoundland. I'm a big fan of Forged-in-the-Dark and Powered-by-the-Apocalypse, and I LOVE games that include imperfect characters making terrible decisions and growing closer together as a result. One of my favorite pieces of Canadian arts & culture is the comedy quintet Kids in the Hall, and their absurdist form of humour <3

Hi Mint! What a cute jam. I'll think over if anything with particular Canadiana roots wants to spring from my imagination the next couple months.

For anyone else -- my name is Kurt, and I make storytelling games. I'm based in Ottawa, Ontario (and my printer for physical copies is just north of Toronto). :) Nice to meet everyone.

Hello Kurt, it's such a lovely treat to see you here!

Hello!

My name is Cheyenne! I am a TTRPG lover and writer. I live in St. Thomas Ontario currently. I also love, love Powered by the Apocalypse Games. I've made several mysteries for Monster of the Week and I always set my games in Canada.

I have an old mystery for MotW that's based on the ogopogo legend that I'm wondering if I can polish off and make an actual product with, if that's something that would fit the brief.

HostSubmitted

An Ogopogo mystery sounds SO cool! I'd love to see what you do with it. <3

Hi Everyone! I'm Amanda aka iamatrex. I'm in Edmonton, and I love games! I am the editor-in-chief of an ongoing anthology of creative TTRPG works called Sprigs & Kindling, a freelance TTRPG writer, and (in my regular life) a statistician :)

I'm excited to see what everyone comes up with!

I ADORE your Itch.io icon

Hi! I'm Paulina aka Magicalflyingart. I'm from Toronto, Ontario, but am residing in Taiwan right now. I am more of an artist than a writer, but I'm excited to try something for this jam! If anyone wants to team up, hit me up! :)

Welcome! I'm so stoked to see Canadian artists here.

Hello! I'm Morgan. I'm a Canadian game designer, writer, and artist living in Windsor. I like writing for games like Spire and Heart, MotW, and Apocalypse Keys. I've written an Apocalypse Keys mystery set at the Athabasca glacier and a Wretched & Alone game inspired by Barrett's Privateers and I'm excited to try to come up with something else aggressively Canadian to turn into a game.

HostSubmitted

Oh this is so exciting! Love aggressively Canadian works <3

Thanks for organizing this! It's great to see Canadian artists, designers, and gamers coming together to support each other. I was already starting to work on a game with stronger Canadian themes when I saw your link on Bluesky. I'm really pleased to see other like minded creators here.

I'm a Canadian artist and RPG designer from Guelph, Ontario. I'm a contributing author for Knock! magazine by The Merry Mushmen (Kickstarter for issue #5 is on right now), have written material for Old School Essentials, and contributed art and writing to some other indie and old school gaming projects.

Shout out to Guelph! So happy to have you here, and I'm excited to see your new project!

Yes!! Guelph is such a darling city.

Hi! I'm Jake (RollForThings), a Canadian from the Muskoka region living abroad in Taiwan. I enjoy designing and writing games, especially one-pagers and ttrpgs in the "story game" sphere. I'm Magicalflyingart's partner and we've collaborated on a few projects as co-designers and as a designer-artist team. Excited to get into some specifically Canadian inspirations for game-making!

HostSubmitted

Welcome Jake! Love to see a fun collaboration.

Hey y'all! I'm Kim and I'm from Alberta. I've been an analogue game designer for many, many years (my joke is that I was forced to learn game design in self defense after I started playing Rifts in my youth). I haven't been as creative since 2020 and I'm pushing myself to engage more in the hobbies I let slide. This jam seems like a great opportunity for that!

I pinged one of my friends and we had a lovely brainstorming session over dinner. I think we've got the framework for a game about the unusually high concentration of giant object roadside attractions through Alberta. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes of it.

HostSubmitted

Hello Kim! Oh gosh a Roadside Attraction sounds SO COOL!!!

This is very cool. I am in Montreal area and am working on osr-ish ttrpgs. I’ll have to think up a plan for this jam but I am looking forward to adding to my Maple Flavoured ttrpg collection https://itch.io/c/3585510/maple-flavour

Update: I think I am going for a Carved by Brindlewood hack/mystery around the disappearance of Ambrose Small in 1919 that features small town Southern Ontario (partially inspired by In the Skin of Lions by Canadian author Michael Ondaatje and from childhood summers along highway 2)

I have most of the bones worked out, and I spent too much time on a map, not sure if I’ll have a chance to playtest it before release

This looks amazing!
