You manage to create such a strong atmosphere with your writing, it’s increadibly impressive. The visuals complimented this atmosphere perfectly and made the whole experience feel whole. The story left me with such a surreal feeling, I’ll be going over it in my mind for a while. Just a stunning piece. I’m very glad I got to play it!
Thank you so much for playing! I'm very glad you enjoyed :)
Twisty, surreal, fantastic. I loved this!
Thank you!
your writing style continues to be one of my faves. love it!
thank you so much!! :)
My god we cannot keep letting you get away with all these bangers, I am sick of losing the narrative category to you my god. I love the way you give a voice to your protagonists, every time you set up such a frame it absolutely locks me in for the whole damn thing. I have every intention to commission you for these kinds of portraits, also we should discuss Disco Elysium sometime : )
Ahh thank you so much!! I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed the story. Please do message me if you ever want to collaborate (or talk about disco elysium lol) :)
I really enjoyed the sprites and thought the colorless ui worked well to highlight the writing as the focus. The music and sound effects were perfect in the way they didn't call attention to themselves but were still present, still affecting things.
What an intriguing collection of memories and non-memories. Every bit felt important even as their connections to each other weren't immediately obvious. The scenes leave a lasting impression. Thank you for this not-a-ghost story!
Thank you so much for playing! I'm happy to hear you liked it :)
OH WOW! honestly, i really really enjoyed this !!! it was so interesting and i replayed it like three times to really get all the details in order and just cause i didn't want to end it :sob: it was really good, i liked the writing a lot!!! this was very cool !!!!!!!!!11
Thank you so much for playing!!! Glad you enjoyed :)
Skyshard, skyshard, skyshard, my friend you have done it YET AGAIN! It's not a ghost story but damn has it been haunting me since I've played it, and just like our dear MC, Red will never leave me. Make a fountain, my chest? No, no, make a fountain, my EYES as I blubbered through this work of absolute museum-worthy art.( ´Д`)
AA thank you so much!!!! So glad to hear you liked it <3
Honestly I can't deny that at this point you've curated a particular vibe that's present in every single one of your works - that kind of dream-like hazy atmosphere that I really enjoy. Loved seeing it here, too <3
Thank you so much! So glad you liked it <3
every time i sit down for a skyshard game i know the writing is going to blow me away…and each time, it really does! first person, self-aware, and almost self-deprecating protagonists always have my heart – the tone of yours was just such a treat to read. and the way the protagonist is speaking right to the player in that vague sort of, sort of not way that toes the edge of the fourth wall… you also have such a good sense for pacing too, and i always felt like the cut-off for scenes ended at the perfect place. my favorite was the “can i kiss you?”/“my heart was a shotgun” segment that was so brief and to the point but perfectly gives you just enough to leave you wondering.
it’s meaningful to me that you make sure to emphasize this isn’t a ghost story, because it’s not, but it is a story about ghosts and i think the vague approach you have could cultivate any number of interpretations – i like to think of it as a memory being kept so carefully alive it becomes real. and anyways, isn’t all of our life a memory? you’re only in the present for less than a second or a milisecond; by the time you reflect on it, the present has already passed anyways. but i digress.
also every one of your games has the most carefully cultivated minimalism in the programming and art that makes it such a clean experience that elevates the writing. the sprites were an interesting new edition, i wonder if you’ll keep doing them? also the switch to narrat is really cool too, the text is just so snappy and the sound effects really make it click too. anyways, i loved your entry!! skyshard you never ever fail to deliver!
Omg thank you so much for playing and for taking the time to write your thoughts!! It really is appreciated. I really love getting to read your interpretation. So glad you enjoyed it :)
(Also, for the sprites: I'll probably keep doing them! I've had so much fun working on them in this game and in other projects, so expect more sprite work from me in the future, I think.)
the flow is impeccable, the way you write just scratches my brain in all the right places!! good read!!! :-}
aahh thank you!! :)
Oh I loved how disorientating the flashbacks were, especially paired with the surreal backgrounds and avant garde character portraits. The whole thing was such a vibe.
Thank you so much!!! :)
