Really good job on this one. I love the atmosphere, the music fits very well. The game was a bit hard to grasp at the beginning, like others already stated. Other than that a fun card game with lots of depth in the strategy. The meta reference to xanderwood is really funny, and the dialogue was nice. Great work!
Pretty interesting strategy game! I wish the game was explained a bit better, I had to dive into the description to figure out what each color meant on each card. Once I understood how that worked, it was pretty fun to play against the AI for a couple of games. I'm curious to see how the scrapped content would've worked :D
I think the visual clarity could've been improved a little. It would be nice to see at a glance which cards can be conquered, and how strong the claim is on each tile. Stuff like that would make it easier to identify the current situation on the board. On the other hand, not showing that information makes it more challenging for players, as it becomes more skill-based this way.
Also, there's a bug that if you rightclick on a card, the game freezes for a few seconds and then completely breaks :D
These are all great points. I’ll take note to try to implement those visual aids. I want the game to be about strategy and the visuals should not get in the way of that. Someone else reported the right click bug. I used it to debug the AI and I forgot to disable it before submitting last minute. I’ll try to disable the as soon as I get back home tonight 😅
I really loved the idea behind this game, and the overall theme you went for including everybody's game in the mechanics. I was waiting to see my game pop up and see what kinda buffs you gave Iron Dawn!
The visuals, and Ui were nicely polished, and the mechanics worked smoothly, I didn't encounter any major bugs. I had a little jittering with the audio at certain points in the game but nothing major.
It's not the typical kinda game I would play, I'm too simple for strategy and thinking haha. It seemed like if you were into that, you could really lose a lot of time figuring out the perfect placement of the cards for an optimal strategy. The pack opening animations were sweet, and visually it looked fantastic.
I can tell alot of work must have gone into this game, thinking about how to make this gives me a headache!
Overall, fantastic job. Well done.
It is there and it would come up eventually. It was always a regular unit with a 3x reach. It plays exactly as the kitty if you got that. Not all the cards are unique :)
Really neat game! I think the mouse only controls work great and the theming led to all of the objects working cohesively, although I do think the objects seemed kind of arbitrary in relation to the game, although maybe the buffs system would make that make more sense. I really like the skull's animations and the animations when you open a pack, and I think the audio was nice. The stats weren't really explained in the tutorial which was pretty confusing, it takes a lot of messing around until you get any grasp on them. Overall though, nicely done!
I really like the overall game concept and gameplay. The card pack animation feels satisfying, and the shared card pool design is great. I think the card values could be explained more clearly—right now, it still requires some assumptions and experimentation to fully understand how each value works.
Overall, it’s a great game, and I really enjoyed playing it
Good point. I can add that explanation to the itch.io page. I had planned a much longer tutorial explaining everything, alas…
Good times:)
Love the concept for this game haha! I lovee that all the different games are included here too. Tho poor xanderwood's been skeletonized
Unfortunately because of my red-green colorblindness, the color choice for the tiles made it almost impossible for me to follow the game progression. The stats also weren't super clear to me, but after a few tries I was more or less able to start moving the board in my favor. Never won once tho haha.
I also really liked the animation for the skull and the effects when the cards were being shown. Nice polish touches
Oh, I didn’t take color blindness into consideration, I’m so sorry about that. That is great feedback that I should incorporate into any project going forward.
The AI is pretty basic and there are a couple flaws you can exploit. When there were buffs it was even easier.
Spoiler
The AI ALWAYS maximizes claiming tiles but you can let it and take over their cards with something that is stronger.
