Description
A soundtrack of very loosely chiptune-based tracks meant for a relaxing puzzle game. Each track represents a step forward in the player's journey.

I used FL Studio to compose all of the tracks. Some of the tracks include the use of royalty free loops from Looperman.

Message from the artist
The biggest problem I had when I wrote these songs is that most of them only vaguely resembled the "freedom" theme in the end, but it was fun writing them regardless! If not the rest of the soundtrack then let "title.mp3" be the main focus of the whole project as I feel like that one fits the freedom theme the most. Originally I tried to aim for 7 tracks but due to some complications I ended up only doing 6

Theme

Freedom
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
The idea behind this soundtrack is that the game revolves around a seed sprouting out of the ground, hence, the theme of "freedom"! The whole soundtrack is meant to convey the sprout's journey in becoming a full-grown plant and escaping out of its earthy birthplace!

Wah! I love it when people make great publications. It can be enjoyed for a long time :3

Overall - I enjoyed your soundtrack quite a bit! It's both wybish, while also containing a lot of good tunes, sounding... it's nice!

I liked area2 and threat1 and weird1.... the most they're DYNAMIC COOL DRUMS Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Spacious, grounded, small, and adventurous are all words that come to mind listening to these. Even without the description, over the course of this OST I felt like there was a really interesting story about growth. It starts quiet and innocent, discovers new whimsical things in areas 1 and 2, learns about danger in threat1, reflects on that danger in area3, and ends up in a much more mature and free vibe with weird1. It feels like the music gets a much stronger sense of what it wants to be as it goes on which I find absolutely fascinating and fitting for a game. Overall love the vibes, nice work!

Title - Really nice patches throughout this and with some creative and textural post-processing. Having the piece crescendo into full instrumentation later was great. Nice melodies being shared between the piano and synthesizer.

Area1 - really nice pan usage here. All of the voicings here go together so well and complement one another so well; be it as a harmony or counter melody. Big fan of how the piece opens out as the beginning had some tension but it seemed to release the further along the track went.

Area2 - once again, the voicings here are killer. You've really locked into the core sound you want to represent this album as a whole. This piece gets far busier than the other two thus far, with some really nice bit-crushing to add some texture.

Threat1 - a cool take on handling deliberate tension. I was curious to see what direction you'd take this in. A lot of melodies going on here with some nice articulation on the main line in particular.  The filtered percussion is an interesting choice, really fills out the middle of the mix. The lead work in this on the latter half is especially good.

Area3 - a distinct change in genre here. Nice little bouncy feel to it with some cool almost sound-design elements to accentuate some notes and beats. Hearing the piano and strings in this was like a breath of fresh air; so clean in the mix and expansive. These too are filtered - a comfort/signature post-processing trick?

Finally, Weird1 sticks to the status quo with some really nice patches. This piece feels very developed and has some nice harmonic progression going on. I kept wondering what type of element would be layered in next, and it kept me engaged right through to the end. Nice use of different string articulations in this one in particular.

All in all, I love your choice of synth patches and the direction you take them. The thematic execution on this was tight and a really cool take on freedom as a whole. Well done, this was great.

i love the variety of melodies provided throughout your soundtrack; the chiptune vibes are strong with a more modern electronic take, very nicely created!! "area2" stood out to me the most with the strings that come in after the punchy drums, but i also appreciated the lengthy verse in "weird1" with the electronic drums and augmented piano arpeggiations. :3c

overall, amazing job putting together so many tracks for the jam! i'd love to know more about the story, e.g. what kind of threats the sprout would experience, so i can imagine "threat1" better in context.

I loved this. Area 2 is the standout for me, even though its FREAKING LOUD AS HELL at parts lol. Good stuff. Proper "soundtrack".

The narrative around the sprout growing out from earth is quite an original approach, love it ! Area 1 is clearly my favorite. I was surprised by the sudden punchy drums in area 2 that break the "puzzle game" vibe a bit I'd say, a bit stressful after the wholesome feeling ahah. In area 3, I think the percussion are a tiny bit loud maybe too. Otherwise nice floating chiptune atmosphere :)

I love a good funky slap bass, Area 1 had me vibing. Really enjoyed all the tracks! Your melodies and chord progressions are really interesting too, you've got a really unique bouncy style, love it!

Great vibes! I like the sounds, and I like the choices you made!

Love the chip tune vibes! My only thought is that when you have a lot of layers happening concurrently things get a little muddy, so I'm not sure what you want me to be really latching on to in that moment. So maybe in the big moments pull some of the background stuff back a little to let the new stuff shine.

Bravo!

Seven tracks is insane in such a shord period of time (In a good way). And they all sound good too, I could imagine them being used in an actual game already as they are. "Threat 1" is my personal favourite: different from all the others, yet still reminiscent of the general style.

I vibe with these songs a lot, the first one reminds me of the OneShot OST and my partner says it gives Stardew Valley vibes which i see too.

Also I LOVE the eclectic little experimental sounds in the OST too. the hand pan, steel drum, the lil experimental noises, i just really love all of those sounds, theres one in area3 that i dont even know what it is, like a choir piano? I love it!

area2 has some nice Minecraft and Deltarune ost feels imo too

you should be very proud of this its so sick overall!

The basslines were funky and fantastic! And some of the percussive noises were super rad!

I liked your approach to the theme in your story of the game! I'm not sure if you had this in mind, but having the songs go from more earthy in tone to brighter and more natural would have been a really cool way to make the OST sort of evolve over time and even fit the theme better!

The tracks themselves were a lot of fun and well made! Good job!

Hey homie! You're cover art/photo of the 'sprout' reminded me of an enemy from earthbound and I took that as a tugging sign to give your submission a rating. I listed to 'title' and 'threat1'. You've got great material, and though the title track might have felt not as strong as  it could have been, your threat track was phenomenal. Your syncopations and note slides really kept the groove going, and I was so happy to gotten to listen to that track. Congrats on your project! 6.8/10 keep on composing! ^^
